the main issue in dia- champ is, that most players are rather offensive with their playstyle. And in these elos they dont rlly want to adapt and thats why they still double commit more often, which is also part of that "everyone chases behind ther ball" thing

how do u get good at soft touches? every time a ball comes flying to me near the goal, i always panic and send it away, and therefore lose possession.

if you're trying to soft catch i would try jumping for the ball a little earlier than if you were trying to just get it out of there, if you time it right itll land on your car in mid air and then land with you, you can also try and place it a little closer to a specific side of your car if you want it to roll in a given direction like foreward to get the ball on top easier, or to the side to keep it away from the center etc. when it comes to ball control in more general scenarios that just comes down to practice

i just stay away from 1s mostly, i dont have the mental fortitude to deal with how glaringly bad i am at anything i need to be competent at, but only when i need to be competent at it
