It's like this, if you shoot from right wall a lot use right directional, if left wall is your go to then use left. Where you have it binded don't matter as long as it works for you(example some ppl play claw others don't so we don't all get the same benefit from a certain spot)
It takes way more time to relearn mechs after changing a binding than just practicing it where you will keep it

Keep free roll if it works for you and you won't have to spend 100 hours relearning how to recover your car

But definitely start adding a directional because it has its own benefits
