You just need to start watching for subtle tells

Every monster shows what move they're gonna do before they do it

im having trouble becuase half the tells have barely any time to react because you need to basically always be attacking with longsword to even start up your counter

so like he's getting ready for a side swipe and i have to be ready for it by the time he even gestures for it

otherwise i cant counter

it'd be one thing if its just "get better at reacting", its another to require having a third eye to predict the future

either they have a slew of constant attacks since, yeah you parried ONE of their attacks but then a fireball right after will knock you down

or they let you parry shit but you wasted your time waiting to parry instead of getting some quick hits in

after a while you'll be able to make it more fluid, especially with quick sheath 3, because for example you can do the big jump on monster and do the big slash straight into sheathe, which at that point you can see if the monster is doing something to parry or do the charge bar move so you can do it again

unless they changed that
