#How do I hide the taskbar while not in an app?

I've searched for tutorials saying to click "automatically hide taskbar while on desktop". I've checked in settings and can only see "automatically hide the taskbar", which doesn't hide it while on the desktop.
Sorry if this is the wrong place to put this.
