i cant login to my microsoft account because i lost my phone and along with my phone my microsoft authenticator app. I dont have a backup code, and ive tried the other listed methods, if i had access to my old phone number i would be able to get access but i dont because i lost my phone and stopped using that old phone number so im wondering is there a way to change the phone number for a microsoft account without being logged in or is there anyway for me to get my account back? (i also sent an account recovery request, just thought i should post this aswell)

where do people even store their backup codes

I store mine in my password manager and in encrypted 7zip archives on cloud storage. some people print them or write them down (and ideally keep that piece of paper safe—where or how you do that might depend on how much you care about security, and you also want to make sure they aren't destroyed in case you need them)
