#RAM usage not showing on task manager/resource monitor
57 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
all of my processes do not sum to 8 gb, i think its ab 2gb
also games have been crashing for low memory recently so, somethings up
using only 57% of your RAM with those things open, sounds pretty normal
what does the memory section on the performance tab show
that looks really good, what application is currently telling you that you're low on RAM?
is your paging file perhaps just too tiny? We should investigate a bit
games
no idea what that is hah, ill hjave a look into it thanks
Also yeah 7gb being available is fine by me tbh. Though, i still dont think all the task manager processes sum to 9gb
oh it definitely does, it's impossible for it to be wrong
remember it only shows one decimal point so every row you have may have an extra .49 in it that you can't see and that rounding error over 200 rows may be significant also
oh okay thank you
Using 36% and on Windows 11
I also have 16GB of ram
I think your RAM usage is a bit high for what it should be
Check what background apps are running in system tray
percent means nothing lol
I'm using 46% but that also is meaningless if you don't know how much I have lol... 32 GB by the way
there you go
I precised I have 16GB of RAM like him
- if you see his discord and firefox is using far less RAM than mine
so?
So he definitely has some sort of process eating his RAM
what? Firefox using less ram means something is eating ram?
what are you smoking lol
Read again
"firefox is using less ram than mine, so something is eating his ram"
the above sentence makes no sense
His system is using 9GB of ram yet firefox and discord on his are only using 1GB
so? that doesn't indicate a problem, and it certainly doesn't indicate something is "eating" his ram
Whilst he is on Windows 10 which doesnt take more than 3GB of ram without background apps running
So there are some other processes taking up his RAM
He should investigate into that
Context
there's no context where this is indicative of anything
other than his firefox needs less ram right now. maybe he has fewer tabs open, fewer extensions, or a lower-content website open.
Still my apps use much more than his and I have a far more heavy operating system yet I'm using 4.5GB less
you don't even know what applications he has open
or even how many
or anything at all
you're making baseless unfounded assumptions
I find the "Users" page to display a more accurate representation of exactly how much of your ram is in active use by apps and services. Of course it dosent display what is using the ram tho, Just how much of it is being used.
Are you also 100% sure that its not Vram memory instead thats running out? Try turning down textures or quality features.
all of the usage is on me
yeah in game settings are low
Hm. perhaps you have a bad stick of memory? Have you tried window's memory diagnostic software and or memtest86 by any chance?
no i havent - thanks for the advice,w will do
Also keep in mind there's no right or wrong amount of RAM to be used either, it depends on what you want your system to do and what programs you want to run. My RAM usage will not be the same as someone else's unless we both clean-start with nothing else and do actual scientific controlled comparisons of the same situation. For example I have 4 copies of OneDrive syncing, skype, two copies of Teams, and way more. Phone Link itself is using 442 MB.
You mentioned you have received messages tell you that you're running out of memory, what program told you that?
games
like valorant/overwatch
Memory or video memory
i think the messages were system messages, not fromt he games
