#no scan button in windows defender

There is no program called Windows defender on your computer. You must be talking about Windows security. And no, it's not normal to have the scan button missing there. Unless of course you have another antivirus that has taken over (windows security disables itself if it ever sees you install other antivirus programs )
Or it could even be malware that has broken it to stop you from removing the virus
Also remember SFC doesn't work alone, use all the steps at https://go.cmdrkeene.com/dismsfc
Learn how to run System File Checker in Windows to check if your computer has problems with files.
Maybe you just didn't find this button because it is a lite bit hidden. Here is a description how to trigger a full scan https://pureinfotech.com/run-full-virus-scan-microsoft-defender-antivirus-windows-10/
But corrupted files do not necessarily have to come from maleware. You can also try the repair your windows installation if you have problems https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/manufacture/desktop/repair-a-windows-image?view=windows-11
Windows Defender scan is horrific
