Well I was just curious to see what happens. I tried to run this https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35
And I got a error "failed to download" and some log files popped up in system32. I checked DxDiag and I already have DX12 but I'm told by others I should not have ever got the error it should have told me "latest version of directX is already installed"

Who told you you should go run that download? What are you trying to achieve

#

Whoever told you to run that, I would go back to them and tell them that it has an error.

#

You will not get support here for "what if" questions like this

#

If you have an actual problem, you can see what your problem really is

Microsoft has thousands of downloads you don't need and shouldn't download nor install or run. I won't reply again in this thread.

Well it was running the installer

#

But then failed and created those two error logs

#

NOT sure how to read them

From what I understand it looks like quite vague. It just seems to say that it installed two files it couldn't fine then next part of the installer failed with seemingly no reason given, then it deletes the two files it initially installed.

#

I've never had directx fail to install. You know what it's for right? It's code that allows games run.

#

What are your specs?

But when I run DxDiag it says I have DX12

#

On fortnite I can choose to play in dx12

Well if games run normally then I'd just not bother simply because it seems like it's installed and it's just a headache to find the mystery that won't help us with anything.
