Here are some things you can try if your PC has sound but the volume slider isn't working and the output devices are missing from the taskbar:
Turn on the volume icon: In the Taskbar menu, click Turn system icon on or off. Make sure the Volume control toggle is set to On.
Restore the volume icon: Right-click on the taskbar, select Taskbar settings, and scroll down to Select which icons appear on the taskbar. Locate the Volume icon setting and switch it on.
Restart Windows Explorer
Restart the Windows Audio service
Run the Playing Audio Troubleshooter
Scan and repair system files
Update the audio device driver
Reinstall the audio device driver
Enable Legacy Volume Control Slider

Right-click on the speaker icon
Select Open sound settings
Select Manage sound devices
Enable and disable devices listed
