Is there any way i can recover my microsoft account? when i try to log in it says "account does not exist" but when i make a new one with the same email it says its taken, so i assume its not deleted yet? if so is there any way i can recover it?

you can recover accounts - but with how long it has been, i extremely doubt you'd be successful

the main alias can be changed twice a week, multiply that by 4 weeks times however many months ago this happened - it is extremely unlikely you'll be able to get ahold of the current alias allowing you to fill out the account recovery form

It is normal for an email provider to prevent re-registering previously used addresses for the safety of the previous owner and the services they used

without the current main alias - you have no chance of getting that account back

Most people receive the security notification via their recovery email, use the new alias to fill out the recovery form and are able to recover their account but as i said, with how long it's been you account very well could have been sold, abused and then deleted

whos to say they've been using your account for minecraft / other games and not just sending malicious emails - hosting illegal files etc

accounts get sold, used and abused for many reasons

cause theres nothing in that account

i made the account for the sole reason of migrating

there doesn't need to be anything in that account - it still has a few GBs of free onedrive storage and an active email address
that has no link to the malicious actor so they buy it for a few cents to a dollar, abuse it and throw it away when it gets banned

The account recovery form is typically the only way to recover an account and given you cannot fill that out id say the account is lost unfortunately, yes

I'd suggest following best practices in the future - use different passwords across every site and service, use a reputable password manager, use MFA etc
