Unable to gain access to Windows Defender/Scans folder

My windows defender constantly shows that my pc has threats and action is needed, and as advised by numerous online guides I am trying to delete the contents of the Windows Defender/Scans folder in order to fix this. My computer says access denied and I am unable to give myself ownership of the folder as other guides have shown. Was wondering if anyone could help

I would strongly advise you to reinstall windows instead

manually cleaning up and continuing to use the machine after a virus infection is not good practice
