How does one backup files to a local backup drive?

It would be preferrable if the method is Universal (Can be done on "Windows", "MacOS", "Linux")

I'm looking for the best way to do it. And for it to be universally the same.

(Disclaimer: This question and similar questions were Googled before asking here, and I did not find the answers I was looking for, or found many different answers.)

This question is more complicated than copy and pasta. The drive has to have a good universal file format, and the way of backing up should not have the backup left failing later, whether it be the way the backup is stored, or etc.

2 exact copies of the backup is already known in this backup method.

And I also want to know if encrypting backed up files in the backup drive is good or not.

encrypting is good if u lose the drive and someone get a hold of it.

#

u can also do the copy/paste using a cli t copy multiple files in mac os using the terminal. No idea what the command is so u might have to figure that one by urself

#

that or aomei backupper and macrium as mentioned above for windows

Do they offer encrypted backup?
