If you change the Disk number of an OS drive by physically swapping where 2 drives are plugged in, is there a process after the fact you can do in command line, like diskpart or bcdedit or whatnot, to make sure Windows doesn't have little hiccups down the road because of the move?

I guess I'm not super sure what hiccups would exist because of this. I think the Disk manager service should handle that pretty much seamlessly

mmk. Hiccups like maybe something in the registry or, wherever, that .... oh wait, the OS drive is part of the move, I totally forgot. I was just thinking solely on the other drive. Does the involvement of it being an OS drive change your response any?

I don't think so honestly, I'm truly not aware of any issues that would be expected after changing the disk order (physically re-arranging). I can't say I've ever heard of anyone reporting issues after that, and that isn't too uncommon of a task as people upgrade to larger drives and make different ones their boot device and such. If moving it did cause an issue I'd like to research the case and learn about it.

yeah ur right..I wondered how common it was, but in my head, because it's 2 m.2 drives, it didn't register to me as common, as opposed to moving ide or sata drives to different cables

I do recall having leftover info at one point in bcdedit that I had to go in and delete or modify, but I think that was due to installing windows in multiple spots over a period of time
