#Procedural names disappearing

Whenever the game updates, the names on procedurally generated objects revert back to their RS code, even if I check the "Real object" or add a name for the franchise. This is kind of annoying, because I name a lot of objects in this particular procedural galaxy. I would add the stars to the catalog "stars" folder, but it places them in the Milky Way, which does not add up to the lore of my creation. Is there any way to stop this, or maybe restore the lost names?

As far as I'm aware, there is no solution other than to locate where the names are, SpaceEngineLocation\data\locale\eng-db.cfg, and making frequent backups of it

When you check "Real object" your data are saved into the existing spaceengine\data\locale\eng-db.cfg if you use english localization.
The reason is that the distributed database of information regarding real objects, like existing Solar System objects, can be expanded with more data and eventually integrated in program updates.

If you don't select "Real object", the data you write are saved into the spaceengine\config\user-eng-db.cfg, which usually is not deleted or changed during program updates.

There are 2 ways to save your entries in the database:
one is making backups of the eng-db.cfg as Jac said, but by saving your copy over the distributed database whenever the program is updated, you could miss updates in said distributed database with new info regarding some discovery on Mars or something like that;
The other is using the "Import" and "Export" buttons you see when you open the Wiki Info window.
There you can save a file containing your additions, that you can import after a new update if needed.
Remember, if you are used to write lore for some procedural objects, don't tick "Real object" or they will be inserted in the database of real objects, which contains data for catalog objects.

Moreover, when you do that and let's say Spaceengine for some reason changes the numbering for procedural planets, and it can happen, those procedural planets could not exist anymore and you would not see your lore.

The thing is different when you write your lore for an addon that you intend to distribute. Your data would need to be saved in a different position.

Unfortunately when I try to export stars, and I play the game, the star gets moved to the Milky Way, and their planets become glitchy. If I do just the planets, everything is normal. I don't want the stars in the Milky Way, they should be in their own procedural galaxy.
