#Trying to understand what exactly is wrong

Hey I'm trying to better understand why my damage is so low and how I can improve.

I have one log where I tried the compare function so I can see differences. Here is the log: https://www.warcraftlogs.com/reports/compare/hj6Ab4nJzKtyTV3v/Jg4YpLCmadHPNqRv?fight=32%2C44&source=3%2CChuckles&type=auras

  • So as I can see I don't press enough Shield Slam. In my Head it feels like I always press when its off cd but thats probably not true then if the other guy has 27 more slams. Is there a way to understand this better? To see if some of my shield slams are waiting too long?
  • When I looking at auras I see that I have 17 shield block with 64% uptime and the other warrior has 10 with 95% uptime. I don't quite understand why. Shield block only has 8 sec and we both played with ITF
  • I also don't seem to use that many ignore pain. I read and often got told only when I have over 60/70 rage to use ignore pain or when I need it to survive. Maybe that info is just stupid and I always should spend everything even if I overcap ignore pain?
  • Why I missing so much damage? Is it truely just because of the missing shield slams and not enough ignore pain which then result into missing Violent Outbursts
  • Are there other things I basically do extremly wrong?

Right off the bat you may have the same ilvl but there are some big differences in your gear. He has almost 200 more strength than you do, same with haste. So he hits harder per cast and he can do it more often. ITF is also more effective the more haste you have.

Quick fix here is swap your epic gem for a pure strength one, enchant your chest (50 str you're missing out on here!) and swap your defensive trinket for an offensive one, alnseer, heart of ancient hunger, umbral plume, crucible, take your pick.

Talents unless you need FTtF go Armor Spec instead, it gives a bit of strength AttT.

Rotation you there are a couple gaps where you don't use Shield Charge for ~90 secs. Remember it gives Shield Block, use it basically on cd! Shield Block at ~64% uptime is a big part of why your damage is suffering, keep it at up least 90%, ideally 100%

Overall he does nearly 20 more casts per minute than you do. Part is haste, but there is some downtime in your rotation. Past the 3 minute mark you stop damage (see screenshot) - I guess you got adds fixating on you, but you can still hit them.

For Vorasius, you're not tanking him for 2 min at a time, be in battle stance when you don't have to tank him.

Your opener after demo is popped and SC sent you go TB -> Revenge?? -> Shield Slam -> 2nd Revenge?? For ST your prio is 2nd TB charge > SS > TB > Revenge. Never use revenge if you have SS/TB/TC.

Yeah I'm trying to get a second trinket here. I only have ancient hunger on 6/6 hero. I could use Solarflare

20 more casts sounds a lot... dead

I try to sync shield charge with Avatar and DS which probably not always happen. Should I just use it off cd? Or only hold if Avatar comes up ~10 sec?

For Vorasius, you're not tanking him for 2 min at a time, be in battle stance when you don't have to tank him.

But I still have to claim the small soaks. But I will try to see how much damage they would do on battle stance. Never thought about that switch actually.

Never use revenge if you have SS/TB/TC.
Okay!

And what about when to use Ignore Pain? Just always to dump rage, or when above a certain point or really only when needed. I feel like only wheen needed is not enough because of Violent Outbursts and Anger Management.

Thank you!

For Shield Charge, it's good to sync when able, but don't hold it more than 5 secs unless you have a good reason, and if holding it means you lose shield block / cast unempowered shield slams it's generally advised to just send it right away.

If you're doing small soaks that means you have aggro and are tanking. I mean after you do first two big soaks and your cotank takes aggro, then you can go battle stance.

Ignore Pain always use it if you would otherwise cap on rage or you have a full IP that you want to refresh before it drops off. You want to keep some rage in case you have SS/TC on cooldown and are forced to cast revenge until SS comes back.

What amount of rage you should be at precisely depends on what you are comfortable with. I like to be at least no less than 40 rage and above 70-ish I'm actively using IP. In execute range I go a bit higher so I can afford juicy executes back to back when SS/TB are on cd (assuming I don't need the rage for survival).
