Hello, i recently swapped from arms/fury to prot to meet guild needs for myth. I saw they arent making any significant changes to prot in midnight and they are keeping general combat loop the same, and it feels weird to me that i dont see any1 complaining rly...

Prot is highest apm class in the game due to IP, imo. I top the cpm meters, hovering around 70-71 cpm every pull on average and its not even close. The IP spam is unreal to me, and the fact that im "wasting" it just by pressing it to not cap on rage feels even worse. Sometimes i manage to throw in a bit of revenge casts in but mostly rage swings are so big that i have to IP instead or im gonna rage cap hard.

My dmg is so heavily impacted by procs. I find myself randomly losing aggro to second tank 20 pulls in, on the spot i never ever lost aggro before, simply because i didnt get enough procs/rage to do dmg. My defensives also take toll due to this as i sometimes cant keep IP up 100% due to insufficient rage generation.

Button bloat, that isnt rly fixed in midnight...
On pull, i have to taunt, pot, avatar, charge, SB during charge, DS, IP with SC usualy, SS, IP, clap SB etc.. and this all happens in like 3 seconds. 12 abilities in like 3 seconds. All non macroable due to different timings later in fights. I get lost and confused on pulls even now after 2 months of playing exclusively prot.

So yeah idk... I like the class fantasy, always loved warr in general and prot, but i rly hoped they would move away from IP spam and make it more like arms IP in midnight.

How do others feel about stuff i mentioned, are there perhaps some tips and tricks that would solve my issues, or do ppl just get used to it and roll with it as is? I feel like prot is by far the most mechanically complex tank (which i necessarily dont mind, just in a bad way) and also highest intensity one in terms of sheer apm.

Sounds like you’re focusing too much on ip. You just put it on comfortable button to press and use it to not overcap rage with VERY niche situations where you want to have it fully stacked to eat a heavy tank buster. You only care to maintain SB especially while active tanking.
More spent rage = more cdr = more avatars and shield walls. Happy loop of pwar cycle. Is it spammy? Yes, but it’s always been. Thought bears and ppals had high apm too? Haven’t checked in a while.

Well SB also increases SS dmg, so idealy you maintain it while not being an active tank as well, as its possible to have almost 100% uptime on it.

as far as IP pressing goes, yeah i guess its gonna go to scroll wheel or smth, as it eats around 20% of my total casts.

unsure what you mean by Sounds like you’re focusing too much on ip.
during avatar windows, which are often enough with TB procs and AM, my rage swings are like +-30 each global or two so pressing anything other than IP when > 80 rage puts me in danger of capping rage. i can revenge safely only outside avatar to insure i dont overcap rage, everything else is either IP or ragecap.

overall my cpm and rage usage (and waste) seems on par with top logs, so afaik im doing most things right (apart from violent outbursts going into TC instead of SS but thats not the topic of this discussion 😃 )

anyhow, yeah as you stated... it just feels spammy, but the problem is that spamming doesnt feel satisfing, as it just goes into overcapping IP and delayed satiscaftion with AM.

Feels like im pressing a button every second just for the sake of pressing a button. Might as well bake it into a passive like devastator or remake revenge into a spender that interracts with IP
