I think just from log comparison, I've done a lot more revenge cuz im Used to playing colossus, and then I should be prioing shield slam and thunderblast harder with thane, thne i should probably be hitting ignore pain in the same gcd as shield slam more

I'm on mobile atm, so my analysis at the immediate moment isn't going be so thorough, but:

You got a pretty good gist of the rotational issues. That's an absolute shit ton of revenges you're pumping out, and there's also an uncomfortable amount of rage loss. Shield Slam casts are a bit low, and that's an issue since shield slams have a chance to proc Thunder Blast, giving you access to the iconic ability of the Mountain Thane tree. That's also less chances at ionizing strikes, which also means less empowered thunder blasts.

#

It also looks like you might be undersending some DPS CDs; it looks like you only have 30 casts of Roar over the span of 27 minutes; with full talents, roar only has a 45s CD, so that's a few casts we're missing

#

If I'm doing my kneejerk mind math right, that should be 36 potential casts. If we say we lost even 3 as a result of downtime, that's still 3 more casts of T Roar there could have been.

#

To also clarify a bit in the Revenge versus base Thunder Clap section, even, you sent almost five times as many revenges as thunder claps, and yet it only dealt about 2.7 times more damage than Thunder Clap did.

Don't be afraid to send Thunder Clap as thane; it has a non-zero amount of modifiers in its corner

#

Another thing to keep an eye on is hits you're taking to the back; about 10% of all hits you took while shield block is active were unblocked, meaning that you were getting hit in the back or stunned or something similar when those attacks happened.

#

You are, however, doing a very good job maintaining and utilizing your defensive CDs as a whole, which is definitely the most important and liable to brick keys part of your job, so you at least shouldn't have too much concern for your future success. You're definitely set up to fix these issues with relatively minimal stress.

Ty for the help, will all be noted going forward

3677 rage wasted. 36.7 bars

glass raft

Your rage waste is looking tons better, and your damage is looking tons better with barely any gear changes. Definitely a major improvement; as a clear example of what your efforts have done, you went from getting 81 outbursts in 27 minutes, 14s to getting 92 in 27 minutes and 6 seconds; so almost the same time, but a whole 11 more outbursts out.

You did waste about the same amount of rage, but generated a bit more than 2000 more rage, so you're doing better at spending your rage, but there's still more casts of ignore pain you can get out.

The other thing to keep an eye on is your casts of Shield Charge; some of them are starting to slip a bit, with them not being casted on CD. There's more than a few in this key that happened 58 seconds apart, or a minute and 10 seconds apart. These were happening while you were fighting mobs, as well, so it wouldn't have been a waste to send since packs were alive and the shield block duration could have been useful. Your blocked hits metric is getting better, but it could get a bit higher still. A lot of your unblocked hits are coming from shield block being down instead of being hit in the back, so it's at least a rotation/stats combo to focus on rather than positioning or anything.

#

So, basically, you'll need to cast even more ignore pain than you are now (it's gonna be a loooootta slamming that button), and you'll want to be careful about shield charge; your block uptime, honestly, is fine for living even in high keys, but it is damage you lose

worn pendant
#

Did another key, wasting less rage with every key

probably need more ignore pains and to react rto more thunder blast

violent outburst stonks going up

ran super defensive stats for this key though but idt i really need it

Some questions Ive accumulated:

A: vioolent outburst, i know its a dps gain to sent on thunderclap (mt version) but is it worth dleaying gcds for, how many?

wind crow
#

Its a DPS gain (in aoe) to send on thunder BLAST, not clap. Never send on clap. You can't really delay to send it, because the only way to proc a thunderblast (outside of hitting Avatar) is to shield slam, which would consume your outburst

Storm is incorrect, you can delay outbursts; revenge doesn't consume Outburst, so you can delay sending it by spending a few GCDs. You can send outburst on Clap only if your only intention is damage and you're in real big pull hours. I wouldn't personally think of intentionally doing it unless there's at least like 10, 12 mobs. It only even starts to get close to the raw damage of an outbursted Shield Slam at about 8 targets, and it gives drastically less rage.

In ST or 2 targets, you'd want to send Outburst on Shield Slam; 2 targets have the damage close enough between Blast and Shield Slam that the rage will generally win out. If Shield Slam isn't available, you can gamble some time on resets by pressing Revenge for a few globals. This is fairly uncommon with current Thane with how many Shield Slam and Thunder Blast resets we get, but it does still sometimes happen.

In 3+ Targets, you want to send Outburst on Thunder Blast if it's available, otherwise Shield Slam. You can also delay here if Blast is on CD outside of Avatar or if Avatar is almost off CD to give you more charges of Thunder Blast by pressing Revenge for a few globals again.

And if you have an ionizing strike proc, ignore the above and just send that Thunder Blast; if it procs and you have ionizing, it's generally close to shield slam levels of damage if not higher, so if an outburst happens to exist you can just send it.

wind crow
#

I'm not incorrect, he asked if he should delay Outburst specifically to be used on TB. You cannot do that

glass raft
#

You are, in fact, incorrect; Avatar gives charges of TB

#

so you can sometimes delay it to send on blast

#

If you're outside of Avatar, Thunder Clap and Blast also have a longer CD, so can be delayed for

Thanks for the hlep guys

#

I've been using yorur advice more and more, and im really focused on it during my keys

#

Heres the log that landed me resil 15

#

Im trying my best to improve as fast as I can but idk, I can't parse above a grey on healing

#

^ for the record i know this isn't a super relevant number, but I'd expect that maybe im missing out on a massive amount of survivability that could be obtained

#

and making my keys as i push higher easier

wind crow
#

Not that HPS is the biggest concern, but if you want to improve you need to waste less rage by hitting IP more. You overcapped 2.3k rage in this key, which is 23 full bars. Thats a lot of IP stacks lost.

In addition, your SB uptime can still be improved.

You sent 19 Violent Outburst procs on TClap. Sending on TB in AoE and SS in ST for those 19 procs would have significantly increased DPS and rage generation. There are vanishingly few situations where it is okay to send Outburst on TClap. To the point where you should just never do it.

Unrelated to DPS, but I'd swap hero talents off of Stormbolts. Its better to take the intervene hero talent (even without Intervene talented), because Stormbolts is a net negative

All of that said, this is a massive improvement from previous runs! Good job man

#

when ur tanking like 20 mobs, u can't really be picky about where ur sending ur violent outburst if thats what u have right

#

U need to generate rage, so obviously u try and try as u can to hold it, but holding it for anything longer than a single gcd has been problematic

#

either in terms of aggro at the beginning of a pack or getting an ignore pain up

#

Or generating for shield block

#

Theres just so much in the way of sending violent outburst properly

wind crow
# worn pendant when ur tanking like 20 mobs, u can't really be picky about where ur sending ur ...

I mean, this is factually incorrect. It doesnt matter how many mobs youre tanking, or how high the key is, it is better to send it on TB if that's available. If it's not, you revenge a bit to reset SS and send it there. The difference in damage and rage generation is massive compared to just sending it on TC.

Obviously, you're not a robot and you're going to make mistakes. 3 times in a key is fine. 19 is way too many.

When you are "waiting to send VO" you shouldn't just be sitting there doing nothing. You can:

Avatar if available to get TB procs.
Use Demo Shout/Roar/Shield Charge.
Revenge spam to reset SS.
Shockwave.

It's incredibly rare for me to have to wait more than 2 GCDs to get either TB or SS prepped to consume the Outburst, and it IS worth it to do so.

If this is something you actively choose not to do, it's obviously your life and you're free to do so. But you came here to improve and this is a huge improvement you can make, so I'm letting you know about it

worn pendant
#

Yeah I'd like to do it more often, its honestly probably that my weakaura shows me VO like 50 rage in advance

wind crow
worn pendant
#

Its probably more of a planning problem in how far away from a proc I have if I really think about it

wind crow
#

Absolutely a good idea. I tend to start planning a little around 80 stacks

worn pendant
#

Alright, I'll change the trigger to be a bit lower and see about it

wind crow
#

Sometimes its as easy as making sure you send an IP right before your next SS to ensure it procs

worn pendant
#

Ngl I get nervous in these higher keys, I'm playing with people that start 2 gcds in and do like 12m and 😭 its rough out here sometimes

wind crow
#

I get that, and I know it SEEMS like this will end up with you losing threat. But what you're going to find is that your overall damage goes up and you'll hold threat easier

worn pendant
#

Yeah its probably one of those things that feels bad at first

#

But honestly I have a feeling its probably the seeing VO in advance mor eoften that'll solve my problem

#

SO much of warrior has felt terrible at first and gotten better as I play more

wind crow
#

Honestly, a charge > TC > Avatar > TB opener will basically let you sit on your hands for 10s before anyone rips threat from you

worn pendant
#

Like IP, shield block, being a lot more careful to not get hit in the back

#

Yea, I have a bad habit of hitting avatar at the end of pulls too often and shield block

wind crow
#

But, if you manage to hold even 5-6mil on an AoE pull you won't lose threat against a 30mil burst

worn pendant
#

Yeah I've noticed that the big issue is I'll see shield slam procs and be like ok I can walk into next pull

#

I heroic leap into next pull, shield slam

#

no tb proc

#

ggs my team has to shadowmeld

wind crow
#

First global into a pack should almost always be TC

worn pendant
#

Yea

#

bleh, its hard to play warrior and pull things with only one thunderclap

#

Tohse long pulls on vdh and prot pal are like w/e

#

on warrior it needs to be so much more planned

wind crow
#

The key to warr is to do it in stages around your TC cooldown. You can do it very quick.

Charge first pack, TC.
Leap to second pack, hit Avatar in air, TB on the ground.
Heroic Throw 3rd pack, Charge, and then hit your second TB proc from Avatar.

Basically 4s and you have 3 packs together with a good amount of threat on all

#

If they're big caster packs, dont be afraid to Disrupting Shout when they get loosely clumped to interrupt casters and get some additional threat. You generate additional threat against any mobs hit by your taunt or disrupting shout for like 3s after

worn pendant
#

Yeah, I think the place this is the most problematic is gambit

#

That first pull where you jump to like 4 different places is rough

#

Question, does TB instantly reset when u hit avatar

#

I feel like it does

#

but i havent checked

wind crow
#

It sure does

worn pendant
#

ALso do you try to empty tb before u hit avatar

#

I've been tryign to do that a bit more often

wind crow
#

You can TC, Avatar, TB and get a ton of aoe burst in your first 2 global on a pack

wind crow
#

Your goal, at the end of the day, is to press TB as many times as you can over the course of the key

worn pendant
#

Hmmm okay, this is all noteworthy

#

Ive noticed I can survive most keys pretty fine though, I've only fell over like twice

#

even on 18

#

I should try to optimize damage a bit more now that my survivability feels a bit more comfortable

But yeah, all my suggestions (minus the shield block up time) are focused on doing more damage. Outside of maintaining shield block, there's not a ton of effort needed to live keys this season

worn pendant
#

Yeah I think generally speaking living the keys has become a lot less of a priority now that I have done more keys and gotten practice cuz I only just picked up prot warrior

#

ALso I've been going through keys without proccing cheat and that made me realize I probably don't need it

#

Still take it for the sake of a comfort tool, but realizing I should probably actually use it as a CD more often instead of protecting it

from a key that briccked

but i am def getting there

How did you guys check what Im spending violent outburst on
