#M+ Arms logs help

I am struggling to keep up with other DPS in our group on arms by a pretty wide margin and looking for some insight into what I am doing wrong, it has to be something basic because it is a very wide margin with other dps.
I am very heavily underperfoming in output and I am unsure why, I instinctively think it is an uptime issue but not sure why or how and how that could be fixed...
Comparing to some logs of actually good players I seem to be missing 100s of GCDs somewhere but I am completely clueless as to why, and maybe sure my embellishments are not optimal but 400 GCDs worth of stuff needs to be fixed first I think.

Thanks in advance!

The very beginning of the dungeon had you troar as your first gcd in the entire key and the first gcd you pressed after casting ava+hoc was thunderclap

#

Clean up your opener and you should be fine

#

Then just remember that you need good uptime, and I mean PROPER uptime. You need to be in melee range while cleaving your main target for it to auto-cast a slam onto it, counting towards sweeping strikes and therefore counting towards collat

#

Also remember that anything even remotely behind you will not get hit by demolish even if its close to ur primary target

#

But the most important thing is for you to please practice your opener again. It's messy.

#

im happy to link the proper opener if you're unsure as to how it's supposed to look

as explained here, you want to apply deep wounds early on, the main deep wounds applying spell is cleave, unless collateral damage is stacked up, in which case you hold cleave and u apply deep wounds via warbreaker

#

you arent applying deep wounds early and you are clicking tclap very late in your opener

#

at least thats what i saw from this one log you posted

hazy fjord
#

I see, sweeping strikes before warbreaker, why is that good?

#

But I see so cleave clap then send cds

tranquil quail
#

warbreaker has more value than sweeping strikes so you want to ss first

hazy fjord
#

I see, so ots not worth wasting a gcd on ss during wb

tranquil quail
#

half a gcd, but yea

hazy fjord
#

And do you see any obvious places where I am missing a lot of casts?

tranquil quail
#

Ideally you want warbreaker > ravager to be the last 2 cds before going into cleave

The # of casts on the same time seem low compared to better players

hazy fjord
tranquil quail
#

I mean it depends on route

hazy fjord
#

But I just dont know where I am missing like literally hundreds of casts compared to good players

tranquil quail
#

?

#

in +14 motherlodes?

#

no

#

ur not missing hundreds

#

i think you compared yourself to people doing way higher key levels than you

#

Never do that

hazy fjord
#

I mean over the same time period, so in 25 mins the # of casts feels very low but maybe im tripping

#

I am trying to catch at least somewhat up to our dk but it feels next to impossible, but I will practice the opener a lot more and ask the tank to stack the mobs way more

tranquil quail
#

compare your +14 to other +14s

#

dont compare it to +20s

#

and u will find similar # of casts

#

i promise u

hazy fjord
#

I feel like I am missing a lot of dps I don’t think I should be so far behind the dk

#

I will find the log I was looking at yesterday

#

Yeah I was looking at this, because its a 14 and very similar time

#

And yes critcake is an insane player but I am hundreds of casts behind and I want to start closing the gap

#

You're looking at a log from 3 months ago. The average ilvl was way lower, they made up for it by simply being more efficient in their playstyle, yet they couldnt make up for it in boss damage since boss damage largely depends on ilvl with m+ specs.

#

that means they were busy doing ST while u did inefficient aoe pulls

#

they had way shorter aoe pulls, but more condensed

hazy fjord
#

Ah I see

#

Makes sense

#

Its just that its hard to find logs of good players on similar keys that are not very old ofc

#

I will try my best on the opener and pay more attention on the rotation too to get uptime see how that helps but the dk seems way ahead of me so I am not sure how much better it gets

#

Thank you very much for all the help and explanations so far, I may be back once I try a bot more

tranquil quail
#

My only last recommendation is that you should actively stand in actual melee range of your primary target while cleaving and especially while ravager is running, you never want to accidentally outrange the auto-casted slams and mortal strikes

hazy fjord
#

Noted! Sometimes I noticed that I was out of range while dodging stuff I didn’t realize how much it could hurt the dps

tranquil quail
#

I highly recommend checking farover-ravencrest's logs

#

he plays without comms on the highest level

#

and as such hes forced to be very methodical

#

dont directly compare ur logs to his but his cast-timelines are generally very good to look at

i mean uhdk is just dummy strong, dont forget that
