having watched the vod of ragnaros, i m already really suspicious of the numbers tuning compared to what i remember. Specifically I remember rag being able to 1shot dps that pulled aggro with "relevant gear level" (full epic, around 4500 life). So their tank shoulda been getting chunked bad.

Their healers are experienced enough with that tank that they already knew the ebb-and-flow to the damage intake enough to ready themselves for any given hit. This was just another Rag kill for that guild.
Anyway, it wouldn't be prudent to immediately doubt the accuracy of the numbers, given Blizz claims to have a running, working 1.12 client to original specs.
What's a lot more likely is a mixture of two things:
Everyone's computer can handle WoW this time around.
The Dark Souls problem. We've had 15 years of the game progressively getting harder and harder, but it's done this so slowly that we haven't noticed or felt it. Simply put, objectively speaking (aside from gearing concerns like some fights requiring resist) Mythic Grong would probably have been the single hardest fight in all of Vanilla, if it'd been in there somewhere. Nuking Ragnaros today isn't much at all different from the Race Guilds getting AOTC on day 1 of release of a tier. Mechanically, it's not that hard.

Here's a look at why trusting private servers or looking at their information isn't really worth bothering with. There's a lurking possibility that Blizzard might have fucked something up. But it's guaranteed that the private servers don't have it right. here's a just a glimpse into some of their tuning disagreements some major ones have come up with.

well, it is still not the patch where MC was relevant. It mighta been nerfed by 1.12, and thats assuming a lot about blizzard even gettin the numbers right for 1.12.
all i know is, i have a hard time seeing the ragnaros i saw in their vod, match with the one i remember, in terms of outgoing damage.
they had a lot less life across the board, and were dying a lot less, despite him managing 1shots back when I did it.

Pretty sure rend is only useful to keep stealthiest from restealthing. If you're managing your weapon upgrades right you should be killing things rather quickly.

and they keep using heroic strike, even for dps
on groups of 3/4 its excellent utility to use it as an opener, attack speed reduction
the mitigation value of just 1 tclap and 1 demo per pack is huge

once you get more abilities though - Sweeping Strikes, Whirlwind/Mortal Strike, BzR, and Pummel specifically though, the spec doesn't have nearly as many problems leveling and (aside from still having to stop and heal occasionally) starts zooming again as long as you keep up with gear
Well, still no hunter/mage/druid, so "zoom" is relative, but at least pulling 2-3 mobs is no longer a death sentence
and you end most combats at 75% hp instead of 30-40%

You'd rather just do that for a particular dungeon's gear than xp

it's important to time it with your swing timer though

Impale only affects crits from Abilities (yellow attacks). Around that level (25-35) only 10-20% of your overall damage are yellow attacks and your crit chance is 5-10% based on talents. Best case scenario 20%*10%*10% you're looking at a 0.2% overall damage increase per talent point which is laughable. At higher levels (45+) with Axe Spec, Cruelty, WW and MS your crit chance is up to 15% and now about 30% of your damage are yellow attacks. 30%*15%*10% now Impale is worth 0.45% overall damage per talent point, still way behind 2H spec and a lot of other talents in the Arms tree. TL;DR: Impale is bad for leveling and requires very high crit chance to be worth it.

TLDR:
- Asking simple questions will often get a "check the pins" answer, because that's where the answers are.
- If you want more detail/in depth info than that, frame the question that way, don't just ask the basic Q&A
- Classic isn't exactly a new game, or even a very complicated one; most of the knowledge and learning has been garnered over the last 15 years, and while it's possible that little things may change or optimizations may be made, the broad strokes are pretty well set in stone at this point.
- Most people here don't care about what other sites and streamers are doing. Just because someone is popular doesn't mean they know shit about shit (and frankly the correlation usually runs the opposite way). WH & IV advice generally lines up with what you'll see here/in Fight Club, but there are sometimes different priorities which may change recommendations (e.g. simplicity/not having to respec as often vs complete optimization).

hey guys.. so like i was saying earlier.. It's kinda mix reviews.. your PINS have 2 diff leveling specs.. The wowhead one says Impale is a MUST HAVE ability to have.. but the Leveling Link in the PINS to the talent tree does not have impale talented
from wowhead.. which is referened in the pins: Tier 4: 2 points into Impale is an absolute must as it has been set up for by the past three tiers, along with Impale, go ahead and take 3 points in Two-Handed Weapon Specialization for some added damage.

it's a must have at 60, that's what I meant when talking about priorities - for leveling it adds very little, but it's good at end game
So therein you have a choice - do you want to be assed to respec or not?
Some players just want to build one way, level up, put in their talents, done and never touch it again
other players like to respec frequently and optimize on the way, that's why Fight Club will tell you to start with 5 cruelty, then respec at 30 or 40 for SS/MS

The whole point of these trees is that there are a lot of ways to spec, and while there are "cookie cutter" setups, most aren't really any better than the others - they're just prioritized differently

I mean you can say the same thing about retail, it's just not as convoluted and easier to change
if you don't want to respec to get impale at max level, yeah you might go ahead and just take it while leveling, even if it isn't a very efficient use of points

otoh, if you don't want to invest in a weapon spec because you're changing weapon types often, you might take imp hamstring or points in imp HS, even if you're not really using either ability much
