How's the 'scaling' of mastery though, in itself i mean. is it overtuned, undertuned or are all the stats somewhat equal in both giving defensive & offensive value in say a 5 man or raid setting?

Not entirely sure if my way of thinking is correct in the matter, new to warrior: but in that case I'd stack up on secondary stats, flat % & procs rather than going TD corrupts

The thing is, warriors go "the extra mile" on defense by being warriors

Considering how tanks are designed you will always go for ilvl first on pieces with primary stat(STR).
By design warriors are solid against physical damage and with current levels of haste + Bolster/AM/BV we have a very solid (80%+) effective block uptime in dungeons.
What we (and other tanks) are weak against is magical damage - we have SR/IP/DS/SW/LS(Hp part) for it but stat wise Versatility will be good for it.
In general you will be just fine by going for ilvl first and not focusing on any "one stat" to boost until you get to 22+ keys (or maybe even higher) where you can look more seriously towards versatility stacking (enchants/corruption/gems) because of the sheer amount of raw damage coming in.
Remember that the most important part to your survival is playing your class correctly.

99% of your survivability is coming from your gameplay.

You will be just fine if you lower your haste for some other stats as well.
Most people sit at 20-30% unbuffed haste.

@little hatch it depends on what you’re doing. If you’re pushing keys, 50% haste is fine. It makes for a much smoother gameplay and you do more dmg generally. If you’re pushing 24+, then you kinda reach a point where you have to stack vers and play around the low haste

times done damage might be misleading if the thing dies before it pops

which could happen if hes actually using it on cd

for instance my overall (hasn't been reset in a few days) has 79 casts but only 73 'hits'
