Bit late but yeah just to echo everyone has very different binds, use what is comfortable. But try to keep things as similar between characters, your taunt and interrupt can always be the same button, your main spam ability, your main aoe spam etc, will make it a lot easier playing multiple character or specs

I've done AD, UR, KR, FH with the spider lady/tank buster and they've all been easy. I tried pulling the spider obolisk with the last boss of SoB and my party melted. I'm only aiming for around +15, usually with pug groups

I wouldn't do any obelisks with Siege last boss; there's enough going on there as it is. Spider would be the best candidate but I imagine it doesn't move to the other platforms very well, which is gonna be awkward especially if (like most comps) you're melee-heavy.

Prot warrior at its core is about generating as much rage as you can
You want to press shield slam and thunderclap whenever possible to generate rage
And devastate as little as possible

Devastate is a filler spell, only used when there’s literally nothing else to press.
For example, during Avatar with Unstoppable Force talented, every other GCD is Thunder Clap. Too often I’ve seen people just spamming Devastate for 5-6 GCDs in a row even during that.

In higher keys you need avatar to survive some pulls, but until you know which pulls require avatar and which pulls you need to hold it for just use it off cd

Just re rolled warrior from blood dk, I feel like I’m taking massive amounts of damage. My shield block up time is pretty good . I guess my question is , I got 440 and through all the 8.2 and 8.3 QL in 2 days . I feel like I should be able to atleast get some 10s done but the amount of incoming damage is way to much . It’s like my DK but with no healing to account for it . Is Prot really gear dependent or what could I be doing wrong ? Everything I read just says shield block up time and keep your rage up and don’t waste rage on ignore pain. Sorry for rant . Advice/tips much appreciated for a new to spec player

Hi @gentle glen - welcome to Prot. It’s hard to judge if you’re doing anything wrong / right without logs. However shield Ilvl is a large factor in our survivability
I’d advise following Icy Veins guide (not sure which one you’re following) as its up to date and a great starting place for defensive play

@exotic spoke I use the nark app elitismhelper and I take the least amount of damage every run. I’m a 2-3k io on my dk across this expac. Definitely a skill gap with Prot here . Just gonna keep gearing and practice . I got the google doc that shows all the blockable and reflects me spells for the trash , never really had to know that on the dk. Hopefully things will get better .

Prot war is the complete opposite of bdk. Bdk gets hit for a fuckton then heals part of it back up
Warri needs to use his shit before getting hit in the first place to not take dmg at all.

Hi Guys....I'm trying to get to grips with Prot at max level....I've read the icy Veins and wowhead guides and played Prot a bit. I just can't get my head around juggling shield block, I always end up out of charges and no block up....what's the trick? Fill the gaps with last stand or IP?
