Hi all - I'm still struggling with IP. When I pull 3-4 mobs, I dont seem to really take much damage and I dont generate a ton of rage. I dont use IP unless I have a ton of rage to burn.
The problem is, if I pull something big... 6+ mobs, I feel squishy af. If I pop SB right away, I feel like I dont have the rage gen to cast IP, but if I dont I am in "oh shit mode" within a few secs.
I'm like 456 ilvl, so I dont think its gear. Is there a different way I should be using IP besides a rage dump?

Most of your rage comes from using your abilities properly. The number of mobs only matters a tiny bit when it comes to rage generation, since it's capped.

Jump in at the deep end with friends/guild so you won't get verbally abused when you fuck up. Ideally with someone in the group that tanks that can help you out as you go along. The only way you'll get confident is by doing it.

The best tanks will be able to cope with mistakes, mis pulls, dps slacking etc. You might be amazing with your pre-planned route, but if it all goes to shit when a dps walks into something then you can improve.

To kind of add on to what Hitry said, learning optimal routes of high end players isn't bad, BUT a good tank will know what his group is capable of and adjust accordingly. For example if your group can't handle the triple pull at the beginning of Freehold, then doing that pull and failing is kind of on you

You get your block chance from shield block and last stand

So for the first death it seems you basically ate the damage to the face with only avatar up
