Good morning, warriors! Quick question. I’m a relatively new prot warrior and I’m finally geared enough to start mythics. All the guides I’ve read have had shield block > ignore pain. Why is this?! I seem to do much better prioritizing ignore pain over the other to the point that I’m out healing the healer on heroics. Could someone give me some insight. Thanks in advance!

shield block is like 300x stronger than ignore pain
cuz ignore pain only reduces 50% of your actual dmg taken by 50% for a small amount

After that you use Last stand to fill the CD downtime of Shield Block which should allow you to get 2 charges of SB again
So it's SB-SB-SB-LS-SB-SB
For general defensive rotation assuming pure blockable dmg
You use Avatar and Demo shout on CD
priority is SS>TC>Revenge>devastate for dmg
Never cap rage, pump excess rage into IP, not into revenge.
Don't empty your Rage bar before needing to use SB
If you know you will take heavy dmg use SW beforehand.
If you can't keep up SB or LS fill the gap with shockwave / kiting ( if needed) / shieldwall

In general all tanks struggle vs constant magic damage.
Self healing ones like BDK/VDH have a better time with it tho.
People usually bring BDK's in for the utility (grips mainly) and there are some fights that you can use it.
That being said - protection warrior will be fine in both m+ and raids for the majority of people.

@bright silo I wouldn't really use Aegis too much I would say that for the most part CnS is more consistently valuable unless you're able to keep the mob amount high. Lucid dreams I don't think is the move either and I would definitely put Null in that spot for several dungeons
@clever folio brother, shield block doesn't have a damage cap unlike IP as an absorb, I can mitigate infinite amounts of blockable damage inside the 6 seconds of shield block that it's up bit I can only ever mitigate 70k on my ignore pain

Vial is decent if you can use it properly - without wasting any of the juicy couple few GCD's after popping it so you gotta play around that a bit.
Rezans is just a passive fairly high uptime haste proc (roughly 20+%).

In general for AoE(m+):
VoP/Aegis/CnS/Sphere are all good options.
For raids DPS:
CoF/Null barrier (r3)/CnS are your default go-to's.
For m+ you rarely want to use null barrier due to most(usually 90%+ of overall) still being physical.

In all honesty i would keep on using Rezan's/Gore.
That's a very solid trinket combination.
While RNG proc trinkets crit/haste have a lot of value in m+ specifically. Crit/haste are the stats you want to go for in m+ due to the offensive AND defensive value of both of them and these are the 2 top trinkets obtainable at reasonable ilvl that provide them.
Plus they are both passive procs so you don't have to do anything to get the benefit out of them.

Well for starters...Zerker's Bleed is basically the anti-christ for tanks
Best way to deal with it is to not take multi-stacks, esp if you're not overgearing the place. I'd recommend a few options:
- Offload it on a pet
- Offload it on a melee dps (pick one you dislike the most)
- Stun it with Storm Bolt after Bloodied Leap to prevent it stacking up. They will always cast it shortly after (doesn't apply to the initial Bleed, which they'll do off the jump).

but the TLDR is
don't take more than 1 stack at your ilvl for that key level
if you do, pop SW
or a CD (demo shout on them works) and get to pumping that IP

The other option, which I enjoy, is to go dwarf.
Dwarf / Dark Iron Dwarf isn’t better per se but it’s better for dealing with bleeds. Situationally it’s very strong
Otherwise, Bladesong is correct. Those bleeds hurt. They hurt a lot.
Saving CDs for them may be necessary, having durable dps soak a stack is very helpful, calling for externals from your healers, have potions / hearthstones ready (and this is one of the reasons I have a stack of Stamina Pots. They don’t do much but something is better than nothing), kite them - in the area of your DPS with stuns / slows - until your stacks falls off
