I am in need of some advice and I hope this is the right place to ask. I currently main a prot pally in EP and my group is currently working on aotc before the next raid drops. I have also leveled a prot warrior and have been running him in my guilds alt normal EP. Looking at the logs between the characters and comparing them, it appears that i am parsing better on the warrior vs the pally.
There are aspects of the warrior that I do enjoy but I think the biggest concern that I have between the two classes is the lack of a "safety net" compared to the pally. Granted I may be leaning on the sustainability of the pally a little too much but not sure. I am considering swapping mains when the next raid comes out but I am just unsure. Any thoughts or recommendations?

He co-tanks with me on the alt run on his prot pally and he really did like the logs that came out of the 2 runs that we have done so far from me on my warrior

best advice I can give you is you should ultimately play what you enjoy the most. Nothing worse than playing WoW as a spec/class you actually dont enjoy but you're doing it cuz it's "better" or what not.

in raids there's really no tangible difference between prot war and prot pally with the exception of orogozoa and maybe zaqul MTing /azshara p1 (mythic)
adding on to that, on heroic it the difference is nullified even further
prot war has a shit ton of mobility, and it often gets overlooked how good that is in EP
pally has a lot of cheese that comes in handy on stuff like orogozoa or queen's court
and like blade said, play what you enjoy

You could always try it yourself. Any major works in keys, it's not like something changed inherently from s2 to s3 other than seasonal affix and base line damage increase. Azerite essences just introduced power creep is all.
I've timed 22s and attempted 23s in the past using Undying major 🤷
Also, thinking that Lucid's rage refund is less RNG than vision makes you think. A proc on rage refund (RNG) vs something that is consistently there (CDR %). 🤔

The thing with lucid major is, if you literally spam ignore pain off gcd during it, and given you have enough targets , you can almost reduce the CD of avatar to 0 after the time Avatar runs out
So you could essentially cast avatar back to back on those big pulls
But then again, major essences aren't all that game breaking for warrior in m+.
VoP major is just consistent without having to play around it
Also, I don't see any key where he's been using lucid major, so idk how you got that info

the dps gain from switching trinkets is extremely small as most of your damage comes from your avatar window, not trinket stuff
You can still easily do 40/50k without dps trinkets

Prots azerites actually benefit the class, while BDK doesn't. BDK doesn't do as much damage as Prot. Prots surv is much higher than BDK vs Physical damage.
I think the only pro is that bdk has mass grip and it mitigates magic better
but everything else about it is kinda bad
