at a specific point you reach a situation where you don't need to use wall to cover for SB gaps
and SB/last stand (and shockwave) will do
so you can use block for smoothing
Shockwave to fill gaps is hard to rely ok some times - trying to save stun DR for when we need it
But I’m considering the swap to undying for push keys as a major
At least, giving it a test
also the thing with shieldwall is
it's a worse shieldblock if you are up against only blockable damage
Yes
so I you would rather use it for smoothing and other damage
It’s best used in conjunction with others if you can afford it
on top of shieldblock
Much like when I call for externals I don’t use that in lieu of its in addition to
Yup
SB with avatar is effectively shieldwall with shieldblock
so that's also a thing
against blockable damage
Better probably because otherwise they are multiplicative
45 and 40 versus just 85%
that's not the correct way to look at it
you can still crit block while SB+SW
and you don't crit block 100% of the damage with avatar+sb
True, but I meant that on a given hit you’d be more likely to reduce more damage
you're overastimating the one and underestimating the other
Thatsbfair - and the numbers will vary person to person
for example I have little haste and okay crit but a bunch of mastery vers
And the fact that there almost always some non blockable damage
even though I enchant rings and gem haste
marok in his calculations does 75% blockable damage
I think that’s a good blend.
Sometimes higher (ML) sometimes lower but that feels like a good middle point
And it will vary pack to pack obv
Finding out dwarf stops the energy beam in anal is a life saver
wait what
I’m 444-446 depending on content
yeah
Yeah - if you dwarf energy lash it stops the cast
Yes
Yeah but didn’t know dwarf did it too at first
So dwarf works on it
It didn't before; only since they made it dispellable I'm pretty sure
Yup
When did it become duspelable
Smth like that
It's been relatively recent
Yeah it does - but still I’m new to dwarf
RnD trash is not that hard tbh
and I would reflect the last one
Did it last week with 19
and the guy would just die from 30%
Only hard pack was double masterminds
We did it, but we know it wasn’t optimal at he time
Yeah that’s the pack. Having dwarf for that too is nice
I don't know how time efficient it is though
tbh last week I think death skipping was harder than just clearing the trash would have been 😂 😭
It’s a dangerous pack so probably not worth
For us
Its pretty fast
The pack or the skip late?
Oh, I think kaege was asking about the last pack specifically
Yeah, I see no issue killing rnd
No deathskip strat is better on fort atleast
BoM avatar + SB is so strong vs orgo its not even funny
To jump in on an earlier part of the convo
It is so nice
Ye, I had the direct comparison of 0 BoM vs 2 BoM ( and now 3)
And it makes a hell of a difference
Imagine
Just crit blocking everything for the first few hits
Boss tanking Orgozoa :rufl:
Kaege I hate you
I had 1-2 this tier until this last Tuesday.
Now I have three at least
Well im the MT and Tanking officer 🙃 ain't I ever gonna get the easy job
High five Nome me too
I try to play towards class strengths
@sick sentinel I so want to do it - and post geti
When you said you’re a weapon....
Why must you tempt me
It's boot funny anymore
👏
Hey guys, I’m thinking of rejoining the game. I quit during Uldir when prot warrior was a pain to play and we were dead last on every tank chart iirc. Is it still the case?
nah warriors are strong now
would I have time to catch up to current/gear if I started this week or is the expansion almost over? I think I stopped right before 8.1
Sounds good, looks like I’m diving back in. Thanks guys
Warri wasn't dead last on tank charts in 8.0 but sure.
All I remember is that compared to other tanks we had to work way more for barely getting the same result, and they had nerfed a ton of our skills. Also, everyone kept avoiding warrior tanks in dungeon speedruns
Cuz it was a sleeper spec
Warri plays exactly the same now except ip is off gcd
Everybody thought it was shit, when in reality it was almost just as strong in comparison to bod when we were top tank
Well, blocking projectiles was huge
Yeah I remember IP being on gcd, dark days
It wasn't that bad
The IP change was more of an offensive, than defensive gain
The ranged block is huge for m+, yes but extremely needed
And getting 2 class traits instead of 1
Cuz we have amazing traits, opposed to other tanks
Another question, unrelated to warrior specifically: is there still the case of “I got an item 30 ilvl higher than my current one but the thing it gives me is bad so I lose out if i equip the new item”?
Always ilvl > stats for tanks
Not for prot warrior typically
Trinkets and socketed rings are somewhat of an exception, but not a 30 ilevel exception
Thank god i hated that, my inventory ilvl was like 20ilvl higher than my actual equipment
I might be misremembering, I know I would sim every time
I don't think prot war has ever been like that in BfA?
We haven't even had working sims until like...2 or 3 months ago
I might be exaggerating, again this was months ago
early on, we had some azerite pieces that were worth a shitton of ilvl
"Cuz we have amazing traits, opposed to other tanks" > Except BRM who have the same trait than our BoM, but don't have to be under a CD for it 😄
like prenerf DC
I'm not exaggerating. I just have a bad memory for time.
was worth 100ilvls
I would use the robot thing, I do remember it working
My point was that we didn't have working sims at the start of the expansion
Sims came into play around November/December
One min I’m gonna check when I stopped playing
Pre-nerf DC was ignoring any ilvl restrictions yes
I mean, Mwahi started talking about whether or not we had a good APL at the end of February and he's responsible for our current APL
But that's only on 1 piece
So we may have been able to sim but until that APL existed, most people weren't simming unless they made their own
And even then there were trinkets and shit that weren't properly implemented on the back end for a while
But theu were there
@strong forum only takes one piece to create a strong memory of having weird gearing
I guess
Yeah, especially that drastic of an ilevel difference
I stopped playing early December, my last month was paid on oct 18
So yeah, if you were simming at that point in time, you weren't getting even close to accurate results
Well I guess that’s good to know
If you get to the point where you're trying to parse and such, it's possible that there is some ilevel loss that will be worth it. e.g. benthic gear if you go that route
You're a bis dps secondary
gottem
technically yes, but only because i had interest in classic when it launched
but never touched it
don't even have retail installed
🤣
Hi catfriend
Pepehands, people trying to steal my slot in a mobile game
You're the reason blizzard thinks everyone has mobile phones
But nobody admitted to playing mobile games. Now it's on record in a public forum. Expect blizz to show a screen shot of this at the next con
I find more enjoyment out of this mobile game than wow atm
📱 👉 🚪
now i got more homework, visual basic stuff
gotta write a program to calculate gas mileage or some shit
Enjoy 😂
i love my visual basic class tbh
it comes naturally to me, moreso than html and css
i dunno why i struggle with those
i gotta look up every line i write, with VB i can d oit by memory
front end web and algorithm stuff are very different
i find html/css to be suuuper tedious
and not "fun"
theres no problem solving
its just tedious typing
VB is fun cause its like hmm how can i make it do this
Yeah I see your point. But there are some rly fun stuff in web too
It'll come later 🙂
I learned JS in order to play Screeps... Face smashed several times since I am coming from Python...
Is battlefield precision good for tanks, or is it garbage?
prot has so many better traits
that you don't even consider that
unless the competitor is bloodsport
Is bloodsport our 2nd best trait?

far from it
@outer dew is my best trait
what gems should i be putting in my sockets as prot? haste?
Haste is what I would generally put unless you don’t have strength already socketed
You could also just socket what sims highest if you want the extra DPS
thats pretty much what i was looking for icy veins says both strength then fill the rest with haste but simming shows strength as lowest stat for dps and haste as highest
@terse dragon there is a trait tierlist
Strength has more implications than DPS
Strength is an armor increase and an IP increase for example
i didnt know that about ip, thats interesting.. thanks for the advice
Strength is an attack power increase and IP has an AP modifier
its not super clear when looking at it but i get it now "increases the magnitude of your attacks and abilities"
should have picked that up on my own lol
Doesn't matter if haste is higher on stat weights. You get way more stats from a str gem than a haste gem, and haste isn't worth twice what str is.
^that as well
@terse dragon are you trolling?
once again, thank you
dont you remember past conversations with msv
I had this discussion with someone in raid last night when I was going through traits for my off spec windwalker
oh true
They’re like “nah man vers is better always” cuz it was between a flat vers increase and OP (haste is literally my worst stat for windwalker) but because there’s so much more haste that comes from OP it outweighs the vers
So just because your stat weight says x is better it’s a per point weight
So let’s say strength is 0.6 and haste is 1.1, the strength gem is still worth more because you get double what the haste gem is
hi, I have an ilvl 400 Ashvane's Razor Coral, ilvl 430 Phial of the Arcane Tempest, and 430 Razdunk's Big Red Button. I'm running mostly M+. So according to bloodmallet, I should be ditching the big red button. I've been macroing my razor coral on my BT/RB/Rampage and not thinking about it.
Is there a resource the definitively says how to properly use the razor coral for fury? I've read elsewhere to wait for X number of stacks, or Y number of minutes to get the most out of the crit buff.
Sim it
This is the prot channel
And why are you asking about fury in prot
rampage 🤔
oh sorry! I accidentally switched channels.
I haven't tanked since AQ40... so my friends told me to stick to dps
speaking of dpsing... is there a guide to prot dps for dungeon phases where you won't really die? Blow all rage on revenge, or stick to shield block + shield slam?
Nothing really changes
Shield block always
Since it’s a DPS buff to shield slam to begin with
Only difference is don’t IP as much and use some rage on revenge
But obviously IP if you’re gonna cap
been building a prot set tryna figure out what ess i need to be using for mythic + gunna prob do 10
10's to 12's just to get the hang of things
Essences should be talked about in the IcyVeins guide
tty
sup nerds
Yo
If ya’ll aint pushing this week then you cray
@sand egret no u
I'll push you @sand egret
You guys like edict or bloodthirsty urchin more in m+? equal ilvl
Doing a 17 KR and the damage in that place still scares me a bit
Edicts personally
and i guess swap it to magic for zul?
I'd use it for magic most of the time. We don't typically have a lot of trouble with physical damage.
I didn't like edict
but now I do
@warm plinth no
you have it on physical
or it resets way too easily
Doesn't it reset if you swap it anyway?
you don't swap it
except zul
even then idk
you get 2 shields in
I would keep it on physical
since that guy melees as well
keep in mind, zul will not live enough to get 3 shields in
But either way you only get 2 shields, so wouldn't it still make sense to use it against the magic damage since that's the dangerous part of the fight?
that matters is the amount of damage you prevent
not the type of damage
if preventing physical damage means you will prevent twice as much
and also twice as much on the last boss as well
who fucking hurts btw
in the end of the day, it's just damage
idk imo the overall dmg you prevent isn't as important as deaths avoided
if you absorb a bunch of physical dmg over the dungeon that was never going to kill you, vs barely saving your life on some lethal magic dmg
i think the latter is better no?
No
Less damage means less your healer has to heal which means more damage they can deal
If you’re increasing their damage uptime over the course of the dungeon it’s probably going to outweigh the one place where you could possibly die
Also, consider, that less damage you take means you can potentially do bigger pulls more safely. This increases the dps of the group as they can cleave more mobs.
what would you guys use out of the options I have trinket wise in M+: socketed 430 urchin, 440 butcher's block, 418 mechagon trinket with the haste proc card in it, 440 sporepods.
urchin and block
so right now my trinkets are 440 rezan eye and jes howler for m+ is that the best two?
Edicts for m+ is amazing
vision of demize is pretty good too from zaqul
really? it lowkey good in keys on only a 1min cd - esp on tyran bosses
and the worldquest trinket is pretty bad itselfs
the one good thing about the wq trinket
is that it doesn't put other on use trinkets on shared cd
unless they already fixed that
i had a 385 socket one last season that i messed around with a bit
Fury war in my group just got this 😭
@warm plinth i did a boost run couple of days ago buyer got 450 rezan with socket and 455 gloves with socket 😀
Should probably just roll a new character buy it a boost to 120 and couple of m+ boosts and it would probably get more gear than my main has
Good grief
Well, my new horde war is actually getting shit like crazy
Already has 440 weapon and 445 shield
And like 1800 haste at 423 ilevel
Damn man
Im like 440 equip 430 weapons
Had a 415 weapon until last week
🤔
Zaqul weapon with devastator
monk 🤔
^
Monks do both, right?
vast majority is dodge
But they still like to 🎉
Aren't bears literally unable to parry though
that appears to be true
was going to check logs but the wiki states All melee classes except druids have this ability:
When is it worth to pop a potion for a dungeon? Is it worth it? I'm at iLvl 440, io 1130. I used only one or two times.
Since I'm a blacksmith, I don't get 2hrs.
does it make a significant difference*
Using the strenght potion btw, undertow (360)
That's a flask
Potions have short effects with cooldowns
With my team, we run full flasks when we do "relevant" content
once you do higher keys than 15s its gonna be as mandatory as in raids
for M+ which trinkets would you use
445 socket edict, 430 urchin, 430 socket block, 430 rezans, 430 briny barnacle, 445 razdunk's button
440 vial
i've been doing edict + urchin
I like those too so can do bigger pulls
hey guys, regarding the punchcard trinket, would you rather use the 1.200 haste proc card, or the cyclotronic blast?
the haste procs are so unreliable in my opinion
If your goal is damage, then you can sim but probably cyclo. If your goal is damage and you only do M+ and those are your only options, then use the haste card.
Cyclo will just get you killed
@limpid pawn i would use the edict and then probably the button just for ilvl. u can just bind it to demo shout to shoot at your location for when ur opening burst is starting
and also so then u can run one dmg trink
Hey all, first of all, sorry for my english. It's not perfect ..
Can someone whisp me and talk a bit with me about the min/max stats of War Prot ? I'm a bit lost with versatility, haste etc ..
Just get haste mate.
Is Kraken's Eye gem better than a secondary stat gem?
Question, as a gearing tank I don't understand the logic of my stat prio's. Where as on here it sais do whatever gives you the highest Ilvl. on other sites such as Icy-veins etc it tells me to go for haste. However haste will give me more damage but not more mitigation/health or anything like it. Versatility and mastery however....
Isn't it better if I'm more tankey, make bigger pulls and let the dps do the dps ?
Haste makes you attack faster which increases rage regen right
So I guess you should always go for haste instead of strength/crit/mastery. Versatility increases healing and dps. Haste increases attack speed. Though mastery is the strongest stat compared to crit and strength?
Item level > Haste > Versatility > Mastery > Crit > Strength
mastery loses value because of bom
haste scales infinetely lowering SB CD, increasing rage gen and thus gaining more value for AM to reduce CDs
crit is best for dps and m+ cuz parries
vers is just vers
haste does give you more mitigation @elfin pendant
Thank you, this actually clarifies a lot. Haste and vers it is
Aim for the 250% mastery dream
Deswind understand
@potent anvil but you'll still press shield block for the 30% damage in slam
True, but at least you don't have to worry about running out of SB to block
I'd rather aim for the 175% haste where SB is 6 seconds
(I think it is 175% not exactly sure)
That's over, if you wanted to be exact it's 167%
I was close
what about 100% party
(8
What
Its cheats that only stormforged people get 8)
With avatar @sick sentinel 8)
obviously

@potent anvil hows azshara going
you gonna move to main tank soon?
Depends on the tank situation for next tier. We're trialing a new fury warr
Once you start tanking you can never get out of it

But tanking is pretty chill for most parts you dont have to worry about same things as dps
If you want to parse you do :(
Not really
It's probably even harder to parse as a tank as people don't give you dps gear usually
and you have to grind for benthic
with essences
i find dps'ing 100x easier than tank
^
Tanking is aids
Dpsing and getting 99/100s is 100% harder than tanking and doing the same
nobody is denying that
but playing dps is so much easier
in the grand scheme of things
Eh depends alot in what class you are playing
If youre playing smth like fury warrior you dont really have any huge responsibilities
http://prntscr.com/pc8yb6
my fury warriors traits are actually aids
huge for parsing as prot
i find it aids that your bis fury trait does 10k hps
and even more in aoe cuz you can spread it
Newb here, do most people who go portection warrior still stay in the balanced combat mode while leveling? I feel like protection doesn't do much 1v1 against mobs to get them down quickly and level as efficiently as possible.
The thing about prot is pulling entire rooms
Literally everything in a 60 yard radius
lol
Are you asking a classic question? What do you mean by "balanced combat mode"?
Wait yeah true is that classic
I forget what you call it, I'm level 14 right now, super early so I forget the stance you normally have first
Yeah okay
Yeah you're looking for #vanilla-discussion
ahhh, okay
You're lost bud
sorry guys
@PHPGator#8506 off topic but your first mistake is trying to level as prot level as arms
he gone
He died
What essences is bis for m+ in general? Currently using Vision ,Memory ,Aegis
Are there any affixes or keys you would swap for something else?
Confilct and strife rank 3
Sphere of suppression rank 2
whats the stat priority for m+
im running haste/crit like i do in raids
i ran a couple of 18s and survivability wasn't an issue at all, so what should i be running for most damage output?
Assuming highest ilvl, crit/haste. Otherwise, just put on highest ilvl pieces.
i go all haste with sockets enchants
with decent amount of crit i have in gear its good damage also had no issues with survival
except times i went pepega and get oneshotted
Hey guys, so I have never tanked on BrM but when i check logs of my co tank
who is a BrM out of 42 melee cast of orgozoa
he got hit only 18 but avg hit was 636k
whereas for me, i got hit 43 out of 53 cast with avg hit 123k
however my DTPS is higher than his (11 vs 5k)
why is that
monks have lots of dodge, making the number of hits lower but their mitigation is about spreading big hits over a long period so on paper they'll have those bigger hits because almost every other tank is about mitigating outright the hits to reduce as much of the damage
I see! thank you for the clear explanation
I'm finally freee
from?
Raid
you cleared it or quit?\
I forced them to bench me from azshara
grats i guess haha
Why prot isnt that bad for her, only time I feel at risk so far is when I fuck up or we have a shitty healer in that dies to p1 a lot
what are the bis pieces for each slot, i have 200k essence cant choose what to get ~.~
Me I am going for Helm of Abyssal Malevolence, Ashvane Wardens Curiass, and either Kraken Shell Pauldrons or Skyschorcher Pauldrons, but there are differences depending on what you might want based off of Raid Azerite or Vendor Azerite
You're forgetting soul head
Such as raid if your guild is getting there and killing it the Dark Messengers Breastplate is great, and the Pauldrons of the Fanatical from The Queens Court
Yeah true I did forget that one
What is the crit block filtration cap? 80%?
ah ok 85%...I seem to recall knowing that number in legion and now forgetting it LOL.
@fringe marten Yes it's 85%, but just FYI that doesn't put a "cap" on block reduction, since you still do regular blocks way more than critical blocks.
Unless u 51% mastery
Oh god dammit tusks
The majority of your damage taken will be non-critical blocks though
I want a meme mastery set like I had in Legion that could always crit block
Probably possible with 3x BoM
Bdks are different
All of their traits are complete dogshit
So general traits become a lot more appealing
But prot warrior has amazing spec specific traits so there is no space for general traits save some special exceptions
yeh even dk doesn't want arcane lol
Yeah because healing from deathstrike doesn't count for it got some reason
is there anything that can be SR on queens?
Queens court or on queen azhara?
On queens court the caster bosses fervant bolt can be reflected on queen azhara both arcane jolt and missiles can be reflected @spice ferry
court. cheers
I'm not free
WE DIDN'T KILL ZAQUL
People fucking int so hard
700k wipe
Just kill the boss man
I just want to be free
so I can be benched for 2 months on azshara
Whats the optimal trait setup for m+?
And the best alternative for MS?
bfi/if
is teleporting saurids worth it for this week
so you can just get one bursting set
and be done with ti
I always snap
snap mid?
too
I pull mid in extremely rare cases
But yeah I snap those as well
so small packs first
then mid snap
It hard depends on the route you take
for KR, should I use azeroths undying
@sick sentinel
and is null good for it
or is there no magic damgae
Don't use null
I used gift for fort
Not for tyrr
so regular essences
I guess so
On hard packs
all the time
when the champions might hit you while enraged if the healer can't soothe in time
if a cast goes through by accident
when I get hit by tornadoes
Is there any advantages of bigwigs/littlewigs over DBM? I started playing like 4 months ago and I chose DBM because it was the most downloaded. But I saw some streams and littlewigs seems more clean
It's cleaner, has more audible cues for dungeons (which I like), and it also gives you the information but doesn't really scream at you what to do like DBM does
RUN AWAY LITTLE GIRL, RUN AWAY
Yeah it doesn't do that shit
i remember back in uldir when DBM literally lagged the game for our entire roster
If there's something dangerous, it'll do like a ding or something noticeable but subtle
so we all swapped to Bignigs and the lag was gone
Thank you guys, I'll try it on some low level keys to see the difference
You'll want to move the bars before you go in
The default position is basically center screen
👌
DBM also doesnt have all the timers for all the abilities in m+ iirc 3rd boss ml chemical burn isnt on it
Fo sho
dbm is just a bag of shit<_<
it isnt good but after a while you get used to timers
would you rather use bigwigs?
100%
heard it was kind of a pain to setup
DBM isnt good by any strech but its more plug and play
there's basically zero setup
Hm, guess it depends on how deep you want to dig. All I had to do to make it suit my purposes was install it and move the bars to where I wanted them.
so i popped in here to ask a stupid question. what makes a warrior do so much healing in keys?
at most it's from ignore pain, some traits can offer some very minor healing but warrior isn't a healing centered tank
Ignore Pain (our absorb) counts as healing.
and with that if a warrior is lower on healing is it indicitive of lower IP uptime or being rage starved from casting to much revenge or does the IP dmg absorb only really shine with high incoming dmg
kinda like DK self healing
The absorb damage shows up on the meters as soon as you cast it I believe. But it's not a metric you should really be looking at to see if someone is playing properly.
healing meters aren't really a good indication on performance for warrior
Shield Block effective uptime is far more important than Ignore Pain uptime.
so one of my warrior tanks in guild is getting pretty well dunked on in keys and mythic prog and im trying to fine tooth comb whats going on ive tanked with him this whole expansion i play monk hes gone back and forth between DK and Warr and in mythic we're 3/8 but hes died on every boss and in 15s he'll have moments where hes just GCD'd in fairly small pulls
The latter example definitely sounds like he's not managing Shield Block properly, though there are mobs that need their casts interrupted that will chunk us fast if not properly handled. e.g. Water Blasts from attendants in Shrine
posting logs would yield the best results
GCD'd?
Meaning he was killed very very quickly
single GCD from full to dead
Like within 1 GCD
But yeah as Thyme said, it's hard to say for sure without logs
pretty normal expression, mostly used as globaled
I mean, it depends on the pull. I've seen it happen in my groups before (I main havoc)
Shield Block is very important in general, and on some pulls not using it when needed, you will die very quickly.
so this is from sivarra prog before we downed her on mythic first few pulls he consistently died at around the 1:30 mark there was tons of raid dmg on top of it but if you can see any glaring problems with the warrior play any tips would be great https://www.warcraftlogs.com/reports/Z1GdhnbQkKjLa4g7/
i dont have any M+ logs saddly hes kinda pulled back from playing the warrior since it was dying so much during prog and saves it for heroic stuff at this point
Well, when you see a % of blocked hits like this, it's never a good sign.
so thats terrible shield block uptime
Yeah, abysmal even
do you use anything to help with uptime WAs or something that might be able to help
There's one in the prot section of the #268491842637660160 channel
thats kind of a big sad 😦
he gets super defensive about rage spending and stuff im gonna try and chat with him about that obviously thats huge
rage spending?
wtf
is he like
gone?
lmao
that amount of shield block means he doesnt even get rage
ye
lmao
because thats kinda sad to see
kinda sad
tell him to read guides and stuff if he still keeps going like this well nothing you can do
maybe he will get better :)(:
Sounds like he's just making a very common new warrior mistake; he thinks Ignore Pain is the more important button to press
yea i think thats probably gonna be our next step hes a good guy just has been wanting to get back to his warrior but if hes putting up 12% block then its not going to be worth us carrying him through mythic
That, or he's spending all hsi excess rage on Revenge, which doesn't look like it's outside the realm of probability.
alright screenshoted these msgs im gonna chat and use you guys as some expert ammo ❤ much thanks
I dont mean to sound like a complete ass
but someone who is THAT bad
does not deserve to be in any mythic guild imo
simply because they have put zero effort into learning their class
prolly does like 12k dps too
not like they're a high progressing guild so standards can be quite lower
What's considered a high progressing guild
:4head:
Which helmet would be better for an m+ focused prot warrior; Helm of tempered jade (420), Greathelm of the purtrid path (450), or Overseer's Riot Helmet (450)?
i think overseers is best of those
Well the 420 is out; idk what the other two have
Overseers has Bloodsport/Iron fort; Callous/Tradewinds; blood siphon/heed my call
Putrid has Bloodsport/bastion; Iron fort; Azerite globs/heed my call
Okay, thanks!
thats a very solid helmet
for raiding you could swap out IF for the siphon thingy, that is decent ST dmg
Currently rocking VoP major, C&S and Null as minors, so hopefully this all works well together
for m+?
i'd suggest lucid/aegis instead of null for m+
null is only decent in magic heavy dungeons like waycrest or shrine
motherload
Which loa prot ussualy use if u playing Zandalari ?
Crit
Gonk ❤️
Good evening guys, can you recommend any high prot warrior myth+ youtube content? Perhaps with some explaining
i mean, everyone learns differently
The only video guide I know of is the one done by Llarold (the wowhead guide writer) but the last I saw it was not updated. That's the downside of video guides; they aren't as easily updated as a written guide is so they're generally only made around major patch times.
Watch me, I'm best warrior
+1
yikes msv
Lol I'm just fucking around
When I'm looking at prot logs how do I pull up a view of how much damage was blocked?
Click the prot war, go to damage taken, hover over the melee (or other blockable damage) bar
It'll show a breakdown of hit/blocked hit
Gotcha gotcha
What's a good % of blocked melee to aim for? As close to 100, I assume?
Yeah but you won't get 100% unless it's a fight that has a pretty standard tank swap; I don't know enough about the current raid to say what a good % would be.
80% mitigation is about where I averagely do
Okay gotcha
Also, when looking at upgrades are secondaries or ilevel the end all be all? Like is there a point where a higher ilevel piece with inferior secondaries is better than one with bis ones? I'd imagine at some point the extra str / stam is valuable
For damage, you can sim it. For general purposes, ilevel is best.
Gotcha gotcha
Thanks guys! I've got some 440 legs that are haste / crit but 420s with haste / vers so I wasn't sure
Yeah there's no way the 440s aren't better, even if you were just going for damage
stupid question, i thought ashvane dropped the coral wherever you were standing and not in proximity of her is that not true? we just started mythic progress so we are moving her to the middle but she's still dropping the coral there.
if you're too far away from her the coral will go to her feet instead of your feet
not sure what the range is
gotcha, thx
hey boys. what do u think is better. 3BoM +3DC OR 3BoM 2DC and one Meticulus Scheming?
Yeah, you only want 1 DC right now.
Preferably you'd go 3BoM,1xDC,2xMS
What's the other option for you instead the 2nd DC?
Hey guys quick question I'm tanking orgozoa as 2nd tank what essences/trinket is good to use? I'm using edicts and bandage atm as trinkets and vision + lucid (neck lvl 64 it's my alt that why have shity trink as well) we doing 3 tank tactic BTW
What essences/trinkets do you have available? In general as a warrior you don't need anything special on that fight since it's all blockable damage - just be sure you have Shield Block or Last Stand (with Bolster) running as you start tanking.
VoP/Lucid are both solid. If you want more ST damage opt for CoF major instead.
For dungeon pushing what trinkets are opting for?
I have coral, pocket with haste on block, Joe's those the one that can think without log in from essences I have those rank 3 and the Anima gonna get the one from raid as well on Wednesday
What do you have available?
Rezans/Gore/Urchin/Edict etc are all decent choices @cloud hound
Urching 430 edict 415 socket rezan 450
That rezan..
Computetional device with haste proc ocerclocking cyclo
I'm running cof major + VoP minor on orgo cuz I rather have the boss dmg to push it a bit quicker
Up until now i was playinv until 16-17 with edict urchin but we aim for higher so i am looking more into the prot spec
Always open with last stand when you start tanking
And i use vop aegis and c&s
@strong forum why not just open with demo + sb?
If i use ocerclocking should i use hm mecha helm or abyssal?
Cuz 1st hits are way harder
Than latter ones
So the bonus hp is gonna do you good
And demo you use on CD anyway
You will be fine with Demo+SB as well. You can start either and be happy and survive.
be happy
@sick sentinel come re-roll Alliance already so i can be enhance shaman m+ main.
@cloud hound what ilvl is the abyssal
You'll be fine yes, but I don't see the point of saving last stand for when you already have 40% reduction from it, might aswell use LS early to not need any healing for 2 attacks
450
Use abyssal
😂
Enha sham is surprisingly blasting
Ty a lot guys
did you know?
Ofc.
damn
You're going to hate the setup so far tho.
😂
Monk/Fury/Enhance/disc priest.
Big boy m+ team
fair, I have a clip of you failing already
Oh damn
YES THAT ONE
Jeah.
Oh my
I also have one clip of MoS where i get one shot by the big dudes since we AoE stunned them all at the same time so their swing timers were synced.
😂
Can't find it atm tho
You should have seen me when i forgot its bolstering week, pulled whole first corridor in MoS on top of boss and suddenly he got 15+ buffs and slashed me into oblivion
If I have BoM and Bloodsport and go arms and use avatar, I know I get an ignore pain. Do I also get the leech?
I'd have to trait Bloodsport first
Delete the shame
On a bit more serious note, does anyone use CoF major on high tyrannical keys?
Nobody is that stupid I presume
whats wrong with cof major on high tyrannical?
I suppose I would have to run the same key level/location with the same group in normal essence vs single target essence. But i cannot imagine the total dmg difference to be "that" different. AND the benefit would be smoother boss kills, which in some cases will make the difference in timing or not.
19 shrine so the bosses kinda piss me off
I ran single target for shrine and KR
Shrine also has windspeaker, storm ele, water ele, which are big single target dumps
CoF, c&s, and visions?
my cs is only rank 2 so i use ageis
Is what I'm thinking
We're doing windspeaker, runecarver, and storm ele I believe
KR also has a lot of big health low amount of add pulls
which is why i think that place is okay to use it too
yeah exsactly, now if you should run single target on places like motherlode, freehold, idk about that.
idk if it would be worth it there, i suppose it really comes down to what areas your group needs help in
my ST builds are like 30k dps on boss
while my normal key builds are like 18k on boss
then again i'm only doing 18 and 19s so idk about 20s this season yet
Nah, i have had bad luck with trinkets. I run a 445 urchin and 435 Rezzan's eye
I suppose I would still keep my Urchin to help greese the healer, but if I could get a 445 butchers block or coral that would be nice.
Coral actually does seem like a decent pick
I like coral :(
you might also like to wear sandals to a wedding, that doesn't mean it's the correct option
^
Speaking of experience? 🤔
Greek traditions
Then why is it not the correct option if it's a greek tradition
Cuz Greeks are well known to keep their shit together. 🙃
I'm joking
So am i
Swear to god maelkenar
there is another autistic joke to be made based on your statement
Sigh
@ionic fern Why isn't Avatar tracked under "Buffs" you have on pull if you cast it pre-pull? 🤔 😦 https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/448862929564205078/628115948867551232/unknown.png
@wooden radish 🤔
🤔
@ionic fern ok thanks. 🤓
cause they don't wanna see noggenfogger and stuff
should you be using shield block at all on the last two bosses of ML?
yes, to buff SS damage
Hi
How do the war in MDI trial survive does big pulls with bosses? Some cool trinkets or do the trash just die so fast 👀
Cant check the gear on them
Nr. 1 great players
Nr. 2 great coordination
Nr. 3 great damage
Nr. 4 great healing
I guess
Using cooldowns and dps doing lots of damage
Hi catfriend
And likely, I don’t usually watch MDI that much, is because of chaining Cooldowns instead of overlapping them
Proper usage of cooldowns, dps, and kicks.
Throw in a lot of practice running and fine tuning the pulls with keys they can repeat again and again
Still they are on a autism lvl of play🤴🏻
If you could rinse and repeats the same exact pull 10, 20, 30, 50 times you’d get the timing down that you need too 🙂
Cool to watch do😀
isn't mdi like 18s
yep
Yeah that too.
It’s like lower end of higher keys
Does anybody know why I do such less damage using booming voice in aoe than dev?
I just spam revenge and thunderclap in keys
and I cap rage so much
Where I dump it into IP and I cap IP while still capping rage
For example, on org
I mean - we’d need logs of both under similar settings to really know.
I do way more on average on org with dev
my world 3 was with dev and I do like 6k less with booming voice
on average
Are demos not hitting the adds at good times maybe?
Are you add tank?
I'm the main add tank ye
remember when you said that you are forgetting to press demo shout
and this is on keys also
Nah I don't do that anymore
like
that was a long time ago
lmao
Have logs?
for booming
for dev
that was a long time ago
LITERALLY 9 DAYS AGO
that was 9 days ago?
yeah
That's 9 days to not forget to push a button
You have to be mental to not learn how to do it
well still applies
9 days
is well enough time
okay then
also even in aoe , SS have prio over revenge
ye but that7:30 is killing the first set
on the 6:43
That too
that's with me asking the raid lead to let me tank teh adds
the entire time without people touching them
I had way more adds on the shorter kill
than on the longer kill
The shorter fight was BV fight not devestate right?
ye
But that's in raids too
In keys it's worse
I use it on CD
I cap a fuck ton on rage
then do overall way less damage
don't cap rage?
^
I spam into IP
still cap
you should never ever cap rage
I know
lmao
that's literally not possible
I'm not retarded
I'm saying It's just wasted rage
Because I just spam into ip
when I'm IP capped
How often do the zoatroids spawn again?
thats more rage for am to do its thing tho
it's not because of AM
You’re not hitting all the zoatroids with demo shout
sorry for caps
I thought I clicked that off
Just did two avatar sets with booming/vs devo
on 4 target dummy
did less damge with booming
doing just Revenge spam
But could be procs changing that
with Lucid/and trinket
devastator build gets better if you are parrying a lot
since you have less empty gcds
So higher crit and strength is better for dev build?
as you parry way more often
str doens't give that much
Well it's still a bonus I guess
booming voice scales better with haste
and the devastator better with crit
and less with haste
I have 1500 haste and 1200 crit
but I feel like that wouldn't change that outcome of what's happening that much
on dummies no
dev still winning on dummys tho
It looks like two or three times you missed multiple zoatroids with demo shout which is part of it
Parries matter, especially towards the end.
Small sample size?
For what I'm giving yeah
But in keys
this is every key I do
I do less with booming
and I don't know if holding booming for when I have all the zoatroids stack is worth or not
as using it on CD lets me have avatar faster
try not being ragecapped next time
When you’re only hitting one mob with it though....
Did I rage cap?
on keys
well I meant like I get close to 100 and have to dump into IP a lot
is what I meant
I don't actually rage cap
Then I have capped IP
In your devastator log you had 33 more shield slams in the first 6:43 of a fight, 5 more thunder claps,5 fewer revenges,
Buff wise you had one more avatar
well that's because of BFI and dev in general
giving me more Shield slams
BFI with shield slam with multiple stacks beats using revenge on -3 targets
...
What
Are you even on about
Ss beats revenge without even bfi
Because it generates rage
I'm talking purely damage wise
Even at 5 targets you still slam
Yes?
More avatar
More shout
I was told that's not the case
Which also feed on itself
Did you have the same essence set up?
by whom
nom I think
...
maybe that's why
I even asked
*Is using ss on proc better than using revenge since ss gives rage
then he said no
Have you tried asking a good player?
I tried asking all players
Ooof
Shots fired
Also that counts me out
I think the rage gen is better
