Week 1 get rank 1 essense, week 2 get rank 2 and week 3 and 4 do hardmode and get rank 4 (2 pieces per run), correct? Or is there a faster way?

it really doesn't matter, secondary stats won't make or break. Offensively you can sim it but it'll be different for everyone.

by looking at something like icyveins (i know its a dumb site to reference) and the top dps prot wars on warcraftlogs, there is a huge discrepancy in which stats should be prioritized
icy says mastery haste and vers and logs says crit>haste>mastery. what is the benefit other than dps that stacking crit will offer

You can't target them via macro.

Best bet is to use a WA that makes them pop up more or modify your UI settings so for example that Explosive orb bars are different colors so you have easier time clicking them.

no hero on M+ essences, I think null r3 isn't up there in terms of viability for prot warr essences
for raid (single target), it's about a 2 to 3k dps increase on almost every boss

It's still a 20% proc regardless of haste. The extra rage you'd gain from having higher haste is in effect whether we're talking about BV or Deva.
