There's not really many times where you actually gotta use it.
Chances are that when you drop low and want to use it you're already getting healed by your healer so one of the heals is going to be overheal regardless.

@tender steppe we don't really need the heal since we're a proactive tank rather than a reactive. While Paladins do have a selfheal they also take more damage upfront and hence need something to recover with. Warriors don't really take that much damage unless you mess up your play or a cast goes through.
And in m+ you got a healer on your back anyways as i already mentioned so you'll be fine regardless.
But you can play with them both and see how you feel with them.
Maybe your healer is horrible and Idol is just better in your specific scenario. 🤷

But in general you'd still wanna stick with Diamond that brings you benefit in like 90% of the time over a on-use heal that you won't get full benefit out of in most cases due to healer panic healing when a tank's low.

What's the playstyle for warri in dungeons? For 395 ilvl I feel really squishy in a +12 dungeon, so I'm obviously doing something wrong. After 3 shield blocks, I use last stand, followed by 2 shield blocks, afterwards I have a downtime and take massiv damage or have to run. Is this normal or should I be a man and facetank till next shieldblock?

There's no point overlapping SB with anything else.
SB is a really REALLY strong defensive vs blockable damage.
So lets say you're out of SB charges & LS is on CD..you can then for example use Shield Wall while SB recharges and after Shield Wall falls off you can SB again etc.
Also you should have LS up pretty frequently in m+ with AM/BV

A good rule of thumb for overlapping is that if you're still taking a lot of damage and your healer can't keep up then use more
Obviously don't overlap LS and SB since they do the same thing

It's probably the thing that takes the longest to learn how to manage
There's no good rule for it, you have to play it by feel a lot of the time
Depends a lot on your healer and how much damage you're taking and if that damage is blockable or not
