I was an Officer in a guild and did it with @sand condor.
It's likely what happened with @honest canopy.
It happens constantly. It's very easy to be poached and easily climb the ranks as a Tank as long as you log in for every raid and show up.
So if you are a good Tank, you will be headhunted and recruited near constantly.
And as a result, many guilds below 2k does not have dedicated Tanks.
They have an Officer who decided to Tank to make ends meet (As I did) together with a really poor tank noone would want to poach, ever.

If having some more defensive traits allows you to pull more, even if their benefit is purely psychological, it's a DPS increase over using a DPS trait and pulling small.

atm I'm using:
A head with : Brace for impact and Iron fortress
Shoulders with BoM and Iron Fortress
Chest: DC and Blood sport
I can choose between a other head with: BoM and Callous (wich is a good option for M+ but not for raiding imo)

With idol sorta just the mini lay on hands but can definitely save you should you yourself fuck up
