- IP and SB are not exclusive defensive tools. They compliment, not supplement each other.
- Be Proactve Not Reactive. Your healer is hating you because you had one job and you failed. Deal with the damage before it comes, not after.
- Stay calm. Prot has a few plates to manage that will punish you if you drop them.
- Make sure you read the guides posted as well, a lot of good info there.

In AD you try to avoid as many packs with Honor Guards as possible (the big guys that have a totem attached to them)

You can skip them as follows:
Shroud past it.
Invis pot past it.
Get someone with either vanish/shadowmeld/feign death to pull them all to left side while everyone else runs to the boss room from the right side and the person who pulled them to the left will just either Vanish/Shadowmeld/feign death to get out of combat and reset the pack.
As a tank just charge in and pull them all to the left side and let them kill you while everyone else runs past on the right side. The pack resets since you died and the healer can mas-res you.
There were some schenanigans with lock gates as well but afaik most of them are patched now.
