Defensively, you're getting more stats from the higher ilevel weapon (more total stats > a certain combination of stats defensively). Offensively, there's no comparable stat to weapon DPS, so an ilevel increase will always be more DPS.

Am i right to assume that prot warrior is one of the harder tanks to play well in m+ as you have to be reactive with blocks and spell reflect while most other tanks "just" keep defensives running all of the time

We are actually a proactive tank, not a reactive one. We are harder to play well in M+ because making a mistake (dropping Shield Block while still being attacked, failing to use your CDs properly, etc.) will have a greater impact than, say, a DK who can take a large hit and just hit Death Strike and heal a large amount back. We have no way to recover after a mistake has been made.

To be fair, the only tank that is mostly reactive is a Death Knight. Most others are largely proactive. The difference between those classes and us is that all of the others have a way to catch themselves back up if they screw up. Druids have Frenzied Regen, Paladins have Light/Hand of the Protector and their immunities, Monks can do extra Purifying Brews. We don't talk about the poor Vengeance DHs.

I'm saying that dwarf is better than a nelf for tanking. For example dark iron has 1% pdmg reduction, remove any bleed effect which is amazing for necrotic and KR and Kimbul and whenever your healer misses a dispell on a huge reaping wave or whatever. You also gain strength from it so more clap dmg and you can use the racial whenever you won't need to remove anything like on a boss fight for more dps because it will still give you 600 strength? The logic that nelf is bis because MDI has them for a very specific reason is just retarded.
And you can look at highest m+ alliance prot warriors and tell me what majority of race are they? Prove me wrong
