as the tank it is your job to take charge of the group. especially in a pug. do not expect people to know where to stand or what to do. I often bind macros that say "stack on me" and such because it helps to essentially program dps. reaping is something that is incredibly easily handled in every dungeon if you LOS casters

Jeah, 15-16 is questionable..17 and above is almost decent.
Most solid advice i can give you is add the couple of decent people from your pug runs to your friends list and start doing keys with them - eventually you'll have enough people for a constant premade group which makes the whole dungeon experience a lot smoother and fun.

1 DC should be considered "mandatory" for m+ due to the extra dmg and the extra mitigation it provides. Stacking BoM for m+ pretty much makes Avatar also a semi-defensive CD since all the extra mastery you get is converted into (critical)block chance.

warrior is in fact the last class ive ever played in WoW as for alts, it is THE LAST class i made until 2 weeks ago with my free boost to 110. in vanilla or with the honor system in general warriors were my arch enemies. so much armor, so much hp. hamstring and bleeds i was running like scared baby on my rogue. i fell to so many executions
when i snagged my thunderfury, warriors werent so tough anymore due to it eating through the armor class, but thats for another story
im looking at basically dungeon tanking atm, low level M+ keys like under 5

If a hit is blocked, there is then a chance for it to be a critblock (50%) in your example
so without any abilities, assuming the probability you stated above

The main issue: the german prot warrior that I'm looking at takes way less dmg from melee hits. I obviously need to mitigate it more efficiently, but he's also taking way fewer melee casts than me. As far as I can tell he doesn't really kite, his Pa'ku has up to 40 stacks at some points. Mine never gets that high.
How is he taking so much fewer melee casts?

Vdh was workin in legion coz of artifact. They ignored too much trais from it and made baseline from ones that were not so meaningful.
So basically pruning killed Vdh spec. Few tweaks would make it up tho . Like making Fiery brand self buff instead of enemy debuff (like some1 mentioned) and/or bringing back Painbringer and Charred Warblades as passive.
Played Vdh whole Legion. Persisted through whole Uldir and finally ditched it in favour of Prot Warr coz that Vengeance was literally unplayable. Sadly

Yeah, Deafening Crash (1st trait) is the only one that's really mandatory. The rest are kind of just what you want. But BoM's benefit in M+ is really hard to ignore. It's a pretty massive damage increase.
