P1 the timer is ok but unreliable because he will interrupt himself with casts of other abilities. I would highly suggest pants for learning and progression but they are not required if you're MT on the boss. But they will prevent a lot of headache due to getting one pumped. In P2, scythe timer is pretty spot on but there's also dmg coming from bomb detonations (especially if you're avatar soaking) so you'll need to plan out your cooldowns depending on what your strat is

In P3 the timers are solid and you should have a CD useage plan for each stack. Should also find a reliable way to die in P3 on the 5th scythe (usually involves facing back to boss) which can at times be harder than it may seem cuz rent crit blocks
