For example if you play DPS or Heals you cant easily see a curve in your DPS or HPS as you get more geared/become better at your given role. Is there a way to see something similar to this as a tank? That's the only thing I haven't really liked about tanking so far is that I really don't know how to see my progression.

There's no real tank statistic though, no rankings you can quickly look at, etc. HPS is incredibly inflated with Insp and IP it doesn't really show anything

That also depends on the tank, we're a proactive tank where we try to prevent as much damage as possible with Shield block, and Ignore pain where bears and DKs are very reactive

So I'm new to Warrior, and out of the three specs I'm really enjoying Prot.
I also really enjoy pvp, and my guild recommends me to just play Arms or Fury, which is understandable.
My question is if Prot Warrior is viable for any pvp, and if I'm just wasting my time playing as a Prot Warrior in pvp.

well I have seen some streams and those prot warriors avoid green bombs as much as possible on bridge. However, with my bear I can eat 3 with no issues.

@austere grove You can also make use of the 30% reduc damage you apply with charge. Just ask your weakest range (to make use of warbringer aswell) to come in melee range. In my case, it's mostly a elesham friend. It's obviously not 100% effective, depending on how much range dps you have, but it save me quite a few wypes

Its really strong on aggramar for example, and much less so on kin'garoth who barely melees

I also wouldn't really use it on PK or Imonar if it's any ilevel drop, most of the damage is when you're not actively tanking making it almost useless

So I just simmed myself and it's saying mannoroth's bracers > thundergod's vigor for dps. Like 12% better. I simmed my non-legendary bracers and non-legendary belt at the same ilvl just to make sure some weird ilvl fuckery wasnt afoot

why don't we always use 100% mastery set on any boss with majority of physical dmg? I mean with the legendary legs and HR it is a dream to keep shiedlblock all the time and not take any dmg

Not all physical damage is blockable, first of all
It's really just not necessary in any case. Even Argus doesn't require it, though it makes more sense there than on other bosses if you can do it reasonably. The 20% avoidance you have from that set is something people strive for though.

The mastery build is viable on argus just to make scythe easier but nowhere near necessary
