Hi there! Currently, my gpu fans are unable to function. To give a bit of context, I had a four hour long VR session about two days ago, and it went normally, had set everything aside and was ready to head to bed. Then without any sort of prompting (GPU was cool enough), it decided to shoot itself into a permanent 100% RPM state. This persisted until I shut off the computer.
I figured I might aswell restart the pc to see if that fixed the issue of the fans going haywire and it did, so I decided to update from 25.10.2 to 25.12.1, everything had gone swimmingly so I continued using it as normal afterwards since the problem hadn't appeared again.
However, when using it today, I was about to hop into VR again when I noticed my temps were getting stupidly high. I opened up the AMD overlay to see that the fan speed was currently at 0%, so I rushed to close the VR overlay before it got any hotter and went to turn off the Zero RPM option as the very first thing. Nothing. After around 30 seconds only one of the three fans turned on and was fighting for its life to cool the gpu, while the Adrenalin overlay was still showing that dreaded 0 RPM reading. I went and restarted my pc to see if that would fix it, but no, now they just won't spin no matter what.
So I decided to remove the driver with the AMD Cleanup Utility and reinstall the driver to 25.9.2, and that led me to the very same situation as now, non-functional fans. I also tried the Fan Control software to see if anything would work, also a solid nope. Though at this point I was talking with Gemini to troubleshoot it, and I decided to follow its advice of switching the BIOS selector button on the GPU and to try a spin of the fans to see if they were getting stuck. The bios swap did not fix my issue, and the manual finger spin of the fans led me to discover something.
Whenever I spin the fans manually, I noticed they would keep doing a single little jitter back and forth in spans of every 3-4 seconds like they want to spool but they can't a short time after for about 30 seconds and then stop. Gemini told me it's most likely an issue with the PWM signal, as that 100% fan spike was the fan controller fail-safe mode after it lost the ability to read the RPM and defaulting to 100% to prevent melting down, and just being dead after I restarted the PC. So I figured I'd retry the driver reinstall, so I this time DDU'd the driver and installed 25.9.2 again (in safe mode and with ethernet cable pulled), restarted as many times as necessary, and went to the Adrenalin software once again to look at that dreaded Zero RPM button in the eye.
Moment of truth, now or never. So I brought out my phone to record what the fans would do when I turned off the zero RPM option, and lo and behold, they jiggled.
That's it. Nothing more, repeated a few more times and only the left two fans jiggled with the third just not moving every time I tried it. The video attached shows the exact phenomenon.
So in short, am I SOL and need to do a RMA on this 6 month old card, or is there a fix I am not figuring out right now?
