Computer Type: Desktop

GPU: SAPPHIRE PULSE AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT, 20GB GDDR6, 320bit

CPU: RYZEN 7 7800X3D

Motherboard: GIGABYTE B650 EAGLE AX, AMD B650

BIOS Version:

RAM: 32GB CORSAIR VENGEANCE

PSU: SEASONIC FOCUS GX ATX3 2024

Operating System & Version: WINDOWS 11

GPU Drivers: tried both 25.6.1 after a downgrade and latest 25.8.1

Background Applications: anything

Description of Original Problem: I seem to have a major artifacting issue out of a sudden, and this only happens on 165HZ - if I downgrade to 144hz, it works ok. Another issue that I have is that I have high lag from hardware acceleration, I think.

Troubleshooting: I've tried disabling mpo, undervolting, changing display port cable, reinstalling drivers, downgrading...

Not really sure how to call this, artifacting? screen tearing? is it a gpu problem, or a monitor problem? early this morning I also noticed that when I switched to 165gz i hear like a really really faint buzz from the back of the monitor....

i might be wrong but it could be the cable you are using cannot support that high refresh rate

#

try using a HDMI cable 2.1 if you have

pallid yacht
#

it's a DP 1.4

#

I started having this issue like 1 month ago, prior to this it was working fine (since nov last year)

frosty frigate
#

if you revert to the drivers you were using back then the problem dissapears?

pallid yacht
#

I've also disabled freesync premium - just adding info

#

nope, I've tried to revert to 25.6.1 which I assume was released in june and the issue persists

frosty frigate
#

did you try other ports from the gpu and monitor?

pallid yacht
#

from gpu, yes, sadly the monitor only has 2 hdmi and 1dp ๐Ÿ™

#

let me try again real quick with gpu, I remember trying it but it won't hurt

frosty frigate
#

try a hdmi cable if you can, prob you have one at the tv if you

#

have one

pallid yacht
#

hdmi goes max to 144hz iirc

#

yup, same issue with different DP gpu port

#

how could I describe this? is it artifacting? xD

frosty frigate
#

not sure, desync?

pallid yacht
#

this also happens on the windows desktop, but on a lower scale...
l.e. now it's exactly like in the 1st picture

frosty frigate
#

it is 4k?

pallid yacht
#

nah, 1920x1080

#

asus tuf gaming vg279q1a

frosty frigate
#

hdmi 2.1 can 240 at 1080p

#

i see it is DP 1.2 and hdmi 1.4

#

so hdmi wont help cause it is limited to 120

#

it could be that the monitor is going bad, but you need to test it with a different pc to make sure

pallid yacht
#

that's a good idea actually

#

same issue on a different pc!!! it's the monitor

#

great reason to buy a new one haha

#

any recommendations? ๐Ÿ˜„

frosty frigate
#

go to rtings website they do great reviews

#

indepth analysis and they most of the time provide calibrated profiles for the monitors

pallid yacht
#

oh and ahm, another issue that I have - a lot of laggign when alt tabbing out of a game, on apps that have hardware acceleration ๐Ÿ™

#

any ideas on this one?

frosty frigate
#

em that i dont know, try disabling hw acceleration on those apps? it might help

pallid yacht
#

sadly this happens on a lot of apps, chrome, discord, slack, terminal, etc ๐Ÿ™
