So I just got an idea for a character that slides right against what can and can't be canon, but I'unno what side it's on.
I was thinking like, maybe some mad Korvax scientist who spent their entire life trying to learn about the Atlas, but couldn't because the thing's literally racist on who can know about it.
Like, in the younger years, it meets a Traveler who tells it odd stories of the Atlas, but because the Korvax is a creation of it and is unable to truly see it, they go borderline insane, like a paradox, almost.
Now that I think about it, how long are each individual species' life span?

There are multiple crashed ship interactions involving Korvax entities breaking away from the convergence before getting shot down.
As far as I know there's nothing saying that some wouldn't have made it, and iirc one of the crashed ship dialogues actually has the entity still alive when you get there, and he just picks himself up and wanders off.

Because I was thinking of giving this character an obsession with Travelers, like, to the point where they takes things that Travelers left behind and fusing it with themself.
Like, a Korvax met and learned from a Traveler, then escaped the Convergence, only to learn that because they are not of Traveler origin, they cannot truly discover the universe. This drives the explorer mad, so, they begin to take remnants of old Travelers and fuse the pieces (from ships to fallen multi-tools) to themself, just as a desperate attempt to have the Atlas recognize their existence and to let them truly enjoy the secrets and wonders of the universe.
Very rough and on the spot, but I feel like there's a core concept.

So, this speedpaint wasn't inspired by NMS when I painted it, but looking back at it, this raises my curiosity for what HG can do with a future fauna update. I painted these weird creatures that have their own little homes they've built from the land. they live in these holes and maybe only peak out every so often to feed on any approaching prey. NMS has a TON of potential for much more interesting creatures and possible habitats and feeding patterns. They could be unpredictable, hiding most of the time and only coming out very rarely. I'm hoping 1.6 will be a Fauna update.

They need about 80% more variation minimum. That should have been their main focus for the first update imo. Only when your core of the game, exploration, is set up, then you can start thinking about base building and vehicles and what not

First one I wanted to draw the atlas but it's a sharpie so shading was hard but I just drew a bunch of lines
Second one I wanted it to seem like some kind of weird diagram for something, but make it hard to understand as if it was alien, with weird glyphs and stuff
