From the outside it's easy to blame project managers and producers but you're at the behest of creative people so sometimes you're in a situation where you have to react and are given very little room or time to plan better.

@austere lance this is something I feel very strongly about and I don't think it's fair to say they have shitty business practices compared to any other studio.
Maybe it's just not heard about but this has happened at most of the places I have been employed.
I can tell you from first hand experience I've been burnt out and it's affected my mental and physical health at points.
However there is a huge sense of comradery within the team because we've worked for years on something and you want to see people loving it and talking about it.

I got to the point where I had automated tool production too well, so the storage couldn't hold all the tools I was producing, so some were going to waste, and bots weren't wearing the tools out quickly enough to empty out the storage, lol
If I'd had pickaxe production going for the mining bots, I'd have had a stable supply of stone to practically have them making axes & spades forever
The other awkward thing I found is that due to growth times of trees, and time taken to reforest & such, you don't necessarily want that many lumberjackbots going or tree planters, 'cause one way or another they sorta stall out waiting on one another.

With proper workflow and less redundant work, you could finish the games in a similar timeframe and less hours. They dont really focus on that though. Most studios will work on a game in a sloppy manner early on and then try to make up for it later with overtime.
Frankly its wrong.
Not to say all studios have bad workflow.
