winter yew
#

and them just giving away stuff isn't "taking risks"

#

it's just them giving away stuff

#

they don't have much to gain from that lol

shadow tartan
#

I didn't say this was

#

This is just something to support existing users

winter yew
#

what is

shadow tartan
#

It's great it if you have multiple TVs in a house or other properties

#

The streaming stick, the only thing that stood out in the article

#

I'm not so focused on the cost personally

winter yew
#

so..

#

what are you even saying

#

gamepass users don't need a streaming stick to convince them to stay lol

shadow tartan
#

The article I shared, I was taking to Mumbles about it and some other stuff yesterday

#

I didn't say game pass users need that

#

I said it was nice

winter yew
#

so

#

you think MS would just hand out this brand-new piece of technology just because it's "nice"

full pivot
#

who's the evil corporation rn?

shadow tartan
#

Google

#

Always will be

winter yew
#

google is always the evil corporation

shadow tartan
#

I didn't say anything of the sort though. I just like the idea of a streaming stick for games.

#

Plus it's not Stadia

full pivot
#

ok

winter yew
#

whatever

#

you agreed with the statement that the extra charge is a rip-off then tried to reinforce it with the claim that "MS doesn't care"

#

i guess you weren't arguing for that?

#

seemed like it to me

shadow tartan
#

I said it's a bit of dick move but I I'll wait to see pricing

winter yew
#

again

#

how is it a dick move?

#

the pricing will probably just be a extra small fee on top of the already existing gamepass pricing

#

otherwise it would be cheaper to just buy the hardware

full pivot
#

what a dumb interesting argument ๐Ÿ˜›

shadow tartan
#

Yeah

winter yew
#

i don't understand how you think giving gamepass users hardware with a price is a dick move but whatever

shadow tartan
#

Only if it's like mobile/cellular stuff

full pivot
#

i'd need a statement by both of you ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™€๏ธ

shadow tartan
#

Because people get ripped off

#

What did I do boss? @full pivot

#

Been a long time since I got in trouble with the police

full pivot
#

nah just to understand what the discussion is

shadow tartan
#

Nah nothing much here

#

Just chatting about game stuff

full pivot
#

yes but i came in late haha

winter yew
#

well

#

you know xcloud right?

shadow tartan
#

Just taking a look at MS new idea of a streaming stick

winter yew
#

ms apparently plans to put it on TVs with a streaming stick

full pivot
#

stick?

winter yew
#

yes

#

you plug it into a tv

#

and you get xcloud or something

full pivot
#

like a USB

shadow tartan
#

I've been using Remote Play a lot recently too

dry copper
#

It's stadia for consoles.

winter yew
#

probably i don't really know

#

we still have basically no clue

shadow tartan
#

Probably HDMI with USB power

dry copper
#

Or is it just for streaming?

shadow tartan
#

But just an assumption

winter yew
#

xcloud is game steaming

full pivot
#

well stadia already sucks for me cuz my internet doesn't allow for streaming things on that level

winter yew
#

remote play is just as the name suggests

#

remote play

dry copper
#

So you still need the xbox to use it

shadow tartan
#

Stadia just sucks

winter yew
#

yes

full pivot
#

i think creating an infrastructure for good internet would be a good first step yknow

winter yew
#

not xcloud though

#

xcloud is independent

#

well

#

not entirely

#

but close anyway

shadow tartan
#

I'm lucky I have good internet here

winter yew
#

anyways

shadow tartan
#

I paid through the nose abroad though

winter yew
#

the fellas over at MS are thinking of adding a new tier to the already existing xbox gamepass

full pivot
#

so they have this really good internet in what was it

winter yew
#

like a platinum tier

full pivot
#

Estonia/Croatia

shadow tartan
#

Croatia is beautiful

full pivot
#

i can't remember

winter yew
#

man are you even listening

full pivot
#

no cuz its text

shadow tartan
#

Scandinavia has really good internet but we all need to be on Korean level internets

winter yew
#

ok are you reading it

shadow tartan
#

I am

full pivot
#

no i was making my own point excuse me

shadow tartan
#

But also responding to Ms Claws

#

I don't fuck with her

#

I don't want to die

winter yew
#

well anyways

#

we are discussing if it's a dick move to have that tier or not

#

i don't think it is but nate does

full pivot
#

ok new tier to gamepass

winter yew
#

yes

shadow tartan
#

I don't feel that strongly about it

full pivot
#

to stream games?

shadow tartan
#

Just an FYI

winter yew
#

no

#

to get hardware

#

like the streaming stick

full pivot
#

so you get the hardware for free for signing up for a higher tier membership

dry copper
#

What do you get for the new tier...an xbox streaming stick that costs less than $30 to manufacture...?

winter yew
#

for subscribing to that higher tier, yes

full pivot
#

well what mumbles is alluding to

#

it better be worth the extra price

winter yew
#

@dry copper again it's promising future hardware as well

#

and it probably isn't going to be substantial

full pivot
#

that's a gamble that i wouldn't take

#

it could also be nothing if they change their minds

dry copper
#

Ultimately, the technology to do it without buying a new tier already exists.

winter yew
#

it is probably going to be nothing

#

sounds like something they wouldn't be able to upkeep very well

#

but if they were to somehow make it work then it would not be a dick move

shadow tartan
#

They mentioned that we may see lower hardware pricing which is great.

winter yew
#

@dry copper what do you mean

dry copper
#

Lots of people stream gaming from consoles.

winter yew
#

that is not xcloud

#

that is remote play

shadow tartan
#

You could use xCloud on mobile and cast it

#

But casting is doo doo

dry copper
#

Again, xcloud is its own thing

shadow tartan
#

That's just a solution if you don't want the higher tier

#

Just an idea

winter yew
#

the streaming stick is for xcloud

dry copper
#

You already have access to xcloud without a streaming stick.

winter yew
#

not on a tv, no

dry copper
#

Yes on tv. Use a google chrome stick.

shadow tartan
#

You beat me

dry copper
#

It's literally transmitting the signal from the xbox to the tv

shadow tartan
#

Damn you Mumbles

winter yew
#

what is a google chrome stick

shadow tartan
#

It runs Chrome OS

dry copper
#

It's a tool for casting from your devices to TV

#

It uses the same tech android uses

winter yew
#

well probably

#

it's google

#

so

dry copper
#

The point is, because it uses android, any device that can interface with the OS can be used with chromecast

winter yew
#

it just streams your device onto your tv?

dry copper
#

It can use HDMI or bluetooth to stream to your TV, to your computer, to anything connected to the hub

shadow tartan
#

I had the Asus Chrome thing too

dry copper
#

Technically you can use it to stream to other peoples tvs that don't have locks on them ๐Ÿ˜›

winter yew
#

the streaming stick isn't for streaming devices onto the tv

shadow tartan
#

Worked pretty well, need to dig it up and try Remote Play on it

winter yew
#

it just puts xcloud onto the tv

dry copper
#

That sounds like a gimmick...A deliberate middle man where it's not necessary. Are you trying to say you can not connect to xcloud right now?

winter yew
#

i can't

#

i don't have an android

shadow tartan
#

Ah

winter yew
#

unless i can do it from my pc with an emulator

shadow tartan
#

I have only tried on my phone and Shield TV

winter yew
#

also

#

you don't need a google chrome stick or whatever to display your device on your tv

#

that's something you could do far before that came out

dry copper
#

In any case, I think the streaming stick is a good idea IF and only if, they structure it around making streaming both easy and enjoyable for console gamers. The only opportunity I see for this technology is bringing people into streaming who are not otherwise tech savvy, but would be awesome content creators otherwise.

shadow tartan
#

Didn't they already add an xCloud solution for Windows 10?

winter yew
#

also the entire purpose of the platinum tier is to make xbox products cheaper

#

err

#

what are you talking about mumble

dry copper
#

It could lead to xbox partnering with twitch or some other streaming platform to plug their service as more mainstream

winter yew
#

it's

#

game streaming

#

what

dry copper
#

I see. I thought it was streaming gaming not just playing games via a stream.

wet warren
full pivot
dry copper
#

Steve!

winter yew
#

well that's awkward

#

@shadow tartan they didn't have a problem with win10?

#

it's ios they have issues with

dry copper
#

Who doesn't tho

shadow tartan
#

I remember some months ago they were testing xCloud on Windows 10 but I didn't look into it more

winter yew
#

maybe? i've never heard of that

#

there will be a win10 version but it's not available yet

#

really only for android still

#

i remember some years ago i played assassins creed odyssey on google's game streaming experiment

#

i played it in my browser

#

stream quality was shit but it was pretty cool

#

eventually it turned into stadia

#

didn't really know about stadia until a bit after whenever i looked up the experiment again

shadow tartan
#

Yeah nothing new on Win 10 xCloud, that's a shame

#

I knew about Stadia, they had jobs going for it here in London

winter yew
#

i'm sure they're focusing on their main target right now

#

ios

#

apparently they're going to do it via web browser

shadow tartan
#

And then they acquired people and you never see anyone using the hardware

winter yew
#

did stadia do that well

shadow tartan
#

Not in my opinion

#

I also remember it from the browser tests

#

Now it just seems a bit overhyped with not a lot to offer

#

Whilst Shield TV has been out since 2015 and can do what Stadia does and more

#

It's great to see big titles in their adverts but is that all it is?

winter yew
#

ah so the xcloud streaming stick is going to be like the google chromecast ultra

#

but probably not a failure

shadow tartan
#

Chromecast Ultra is cool if you don't have Android TV

#

I'm going to get one to mess around with because I use Android TV a lot now

winter yew
#

well that's the hardware you use for playing stadia on tvs

shadow tartan
#

Yup

winter yew
#

ah

#

smart mirrors

shadow tartan
#

Sorry my mistake I mean the new Chromecast with Android TV

winter yew
#

i forgot all about these things

shadow tartan
#

Yeeeeah

winter yew
#

yes that's essentially the chromecast ultra

#

but better?

#

not sure really

shadow tartan
#

I wanted to build one of those

#

It's different to Chromecast

winter yew
#

i remember quite a few people building them

shadow tartan
#

It runs the Android TV OS

winter yew
#

yes but it's like chromecast ultra in that regard

#

is it not?

#

i don't use either

#

i mean i just assumed that

#

ultra is not here

#

replaced with chromecast google tv

#

and at a similar price

#

but i don't really know

shadow tartan
#

Chromecast receives a stream from a device but the one with TV runs the OS

winter yew
#

i meant the ultra

shadow tartan
#

Oh the Ultra

#

I thought that was just 4K streaming

#

Still just a receiver

winter yew
#

you can play stadia on it

#

so

#

i don't think it's just that?

#

anyways

#

it seems pretty similar to the xcloud stream stick

#

in concept

shadow tartan
#

The gestures and commands come from the controller similar to how it streams from mobile

winter yew
#

except xcloud is probably going to be way more popular

shadow tartan
#

Two different devices though

#

One is just for XBOX

#

The Google TV device will work with majority of apps and if it's not a TV app you can sideload it

#

That's how it works currently

winter yew
#

i meant in the game streaming sense

shadow tartan
#

That will come down to their infrastructure

#

Like when Sony bought Gakai

#

To provide the service for PS Now

#

So if it's as good as it is now then all good

winter yew
#

considering that all gamepass users will be able to use it fine

#

it will probably be popular

#

oh yeah also the xbox remote play guide is a bit annoying

#

i was going to try it out but despite the website saying you only need ios 10 or greater

#

you need at the very least ios 12.2 i think?

#

something after ios 12

#

i got baited

#

by microsoft

shadow tartan
#

Was it you that had issues updating their iPhone?

winter yew
#

yes

#

that was why i was trying to update it

shadow tartan
#

Kk

#

One of the workaround I saw was to use TCP/IP over USB with an Android device

winter yew
#

i fixed it

#

i can update it now

#

also i do not own any android devices

shadow tartan
#

I remember you said you Jailbroke it again

winter yew
#

yes i jailbroke it to do some things before wiping it

shadow tartan
#

Having an Android device is handy

#

I always have an Apple device that's reasonably up to date too

winter yew
#

well i just keep one mobile device

#

i don't have a need for two

shadow tartan
#

I have quite a few but it was checking some app optimisation stuff

#

Got some old tablets I need to get rid of though

#

It's also a hobby of mine ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

winter yew
#

it took me a few hours to find a jailbreak that worked

#

most of it either didn't work or was paid

#

i also came across one that was laughably fake

#

eventually i got it to jailbreak with electra

#

which is a different jailbreak than the one i used earlier (unc0ver), but all i needed was root access so it works

shadow tartan
#

Hopefully we can cast these shackles aside and let them give us the implant

#

Then WE can have the software updates

#

Nothing could possibly go wrong then

full pivot
#

imagine

#

and this is totally off topic from this channel

#

actually nvm

shadow tartan
#

@full pivot shit I'm sorry boss, my bad

#

Slipped

full pivot
#

you'll learn about it later

shadow tartan
#

I will?

#

Should I be scared?

#

Oh it's a channel that I must complete attunement for

winter yew
#

i mean this is the most appropriate channel for this topic that i have unlocked

halcyon pike
#

My friends and I love(d) NMS but after 100 hours we're ready for a break. Not permanent mind you. Just something to change up the pace. Our favorite part of NMS is how chill it is. After a long day of working from home sometimes we don't have the mind for an intense shooter or deep strategy. NMS fit that bill perfectly. Does anyone have any recommendations of other games that are low-brain but also not boring as hell?

winter yew
#

dark souls is a very relaxing game

halcyon pike
#

Funny

#

Though after you learn to block before attacks, Dark Souls can be pretty low-brain ๐Ÿ˜›

full pivot
#

its just a deep talk no politics channel that people ruined for ya

winter yew
#

hmm what's a relaxing game

#

well

full pivot
#

dark souls is actually amazingly repetitive and relaxing for it

#

like once you get it

winter yew
#

you should probably make the channels a bit lower level

halcyon pike
#

I agree, but it's also not coop

full pivot
#

i will open the philosophy channel to everyone

halcyon pike
#

We tried Cities Skylines Multiplayer Mod. It was... awful

full pivot
#

and the moment someone fucks it up

halcyon pike
#

CS is good. But the mod... noty

full pivot
#

that person will be muted for an extended period of time and warned

winter yew
#

i personally would keep such channels open for everyone

#

but whatever floats your boat

full pivot
#

go ahead

winter yew
#

alright i'm opening them

winter yew
full pivot
#

i have a feeling you'll be the first to make me regret this

winter yew
#

i don't talk philosophy so i won't be in there

full pivot
#

good

shadow tartan
#

I'm reading what you wrote right now

#

I need a cigarette

full pivot
#

ha

shadow tartan
#

Close to home

silver sparrow
winter yew
#

๐Ÿ˜„ ๐Ÿ˜„

dry copper
#

The philosophy channel was moved?

winter yew
#

no

#

closed

dry copper
#

Confused.

winter yew
#

computer man ruined it

dry copper
#

I doubt that.

winter yew
#

well doubt it

#

it's the truth though

dry copper
#

I need a new earwig...This song is going to drive me insane

#

Quick, someone drop a song that's super annoying that I won't get out of my head

winter yew
#

uh uh uh gimme a sec

rigid haven
#

Wait wait why did the channel close??

dry copper
#

....Not wormy enough

#

@winter yew Thanks for the link. I knew I heard Wang Chung before....Found a song of theirs that may work

winter yew
#

LOL. that song is so damn old

#

dude I'm older than that song ๐Ÿ˜ญ by one year and two months.

silver sparrow
#

Canโ€™t get you out of my head

shadow tartan
#

Anyone watching UFC 254?

silver sparrow
#

Kylie minogue

winter yew
#

here

shadow tartan
#

"Your loving is all I think about"

winter yew
#

get up on this track

shadow tartan
#

Evil Woman is a great song too

#

You made a fool of meeeeee

dry copper
shadow tartan
#

But them broken dreams have got to eeeeeend

winter yew
#

I have a mighty NEED

dry copper
#

I wonder if in Cyberpunk you'll be able to sup up an economy car to be tough and idiotic

austere lance
winter yew
#

last song imma link

#

today anyway

dry copper
#

Woot. My computer exceeds the recommended requirements for Cyberpunk 2077. I'm psyched

winter yew
#

nice

dry copper
#

Been playing Fo76 lately...This AI is jank af

#

enemies fire through walls, choppers fly into buildings but forget to explode...

#

It's just a colorful nightmare

#

It's not difficult tho

cinder vessel
#

would be nice if they'd make it offline/solo. Much of what I've seen of it makes the map look pretty fun to explore

winter yew
#

lol

#

forget to explode

austere lance
#

Imma finish playthrough B of Nier Automata today, then imma start the third one

#

@dry copper The funny part is that chopper issue happened back in Fallout 4 too ๐Ÿ˜†

cinder vessel
#

well it is the same ol' creaky engine

#

but even if it weren't, it's not like Bethesda's known for fixing much

winter yew
#

did i see something about them 'overhauling' their game engine for Elder Scrolls 6 and Starfield?

cinder vessel
#

they kinda say that for each new game tbh

#

And for what it's worth, it's usually somewhat true

winter yew
#

ah imma be honest the only Bethesda game I really dug into was Skyrim

austere lance
#

They said this is the biggest overhaul they've done since Morrowind to Oblivion

cinder vessel
#

If it's like Skyrim or Fallout 4, may mean even fewer RPG options

winter yew
#

oh geez

cinder vessel
#

I'm still bummed about them tossing out spellcrafting kinda stuff

#

I think Oblivion still had that, but it was dropped with Skyrim

#

At some point I should download one of those big overhaul mods for Skyrim or something

austere lance
#

Yeah Oblivion had it

charred badge
#

Oblivion's was nerfed tho

austere lance
#

I didn't get far in Morrowind cuz everything being determined by computerized dice rolls in a first-person RPG is a hard pass for me

cinder vessel
#

I didn't get far in Morrowind cuz everything being determined by computerized dice rolls in a first-person RPG is a hard pass for me
@austere lance yet you went through KotoR...Not sure how third-person makes it better but ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

austere lance
#

Cuz KotOR doesn't do weird stuff like give you a shield that you can't actually control. In Morrowind you block automatically (or don't) depending on your Block level. It's stupid

#

In KotOR you can just slap on an energy shield and it'll absorb X amount of damage for you

cinder vessel
#

lol

#

whatever the case, i do tend to agree, dice-rolly systems in active gameplay are annoying

austere lance
#

It looks dumb in Morrowind to have a shield in your left hand that you don't actually control

cinder vessel
#

It looks silly in any game to be right by an enemy and miss

charred badge
#

goddamn ordinators

#

They had the decency to animate/sound it as a bounce rather than a miss

cinder vessel
#

So apparently Immortals: Fenny Rise has a free demo available...Through Stadia, lol

charred badge
#

ting ting ting

#

Anyway, morrowind spellcrafting let you do things like sphere of unlock

austere lance
#

Does that just unlock things, lol?

cinder vessel
#

but in a spherical area, so several things!

#

maybe, i dunno

austere lance
#

Cuz Alteration has a bunch of unlocking spells ๐Ÿ˜†

charred badge
#

It's the best way to piss off an entire city

#

100m unlock sphere

cinder vessel
#

lol

#

so it does literally just unlock all the things in a spherical area?

charred badge
#

And enchanting let you do dumb things like permanent 100% chameleon

#

Yeah, under the point value

cinder vessel
#

nice

#

That stupid stuff is/was great~

charred badge
#

Basically invis but it doesn't break when you hit things

#

Also permanent levitate

#

Which was... not as great as it sounds

cinder vessel
#

My fav. was ppl improving their athletics to the point they could just hop around the map, lol

#

As in, literally leap from town to town or whatever

charred badge
#

Yes

#

If you make a permanent version of the scroll of icarian flight, you could usually get a snack before landing

cinder vessel
#

Hmm, trying to figure out how to search for Minecraft mods that let you either set up devices or direct villagers to build stuff for you, lol

austere lance
loud raven
#

Hey if anyone wants to play some Among Us, feel free to message me

charred badge
#

@austere lance translation: if you delete your Facebook account, your Facebook VR account dies too?

dry copper
#

@austere lance ugh. I absolutely refuse to link Oculus to facebook.

#

I would sooner smash the oculus rift with a god damn hammer

#

I would not have purchased oculus at all if I knew they were going to go this top heavy on social media linking.

#

I hope that the Vive and Index don't go that route

cinder vessel
#

Unfortunately the moment FB acquired Oculus, the writing was on the wall for this BS

dry copper
#

In terms of trust with VR, for me, Facebook is pretty low...With HTC at the top, followed closely by Valve.

austere lance
#

Don't you have to log into your Oculus with Facebook?

cinder vessel
#

just found the Minecolonies mod for Minecraft that seems to do a decent part of what I'd like, but not sure about the whole raids/tending to villagers aspects, lol

#

Looks like you can disable raids, but not sure about the tending to villagers part

#

Increasingly thinking what I'm more after is like a voxelbuilder w/ robots to construct your designs, lol

austere lance
#

Final boss of Nier Automata ending B, let's gooooooo

winter yew
#

good luck

austere lance
#

RIGHT THROUGH THE BRAIN, GET WRECKED

cinder vessel
#

ooh, Autonauts looks very much up my alley ๐Ÿ‘€

#

It's like a cutesy Factorio where you teach bots to set up your production chains

austere lance
#

The main characters in Automata without their eye-coverings look weird

#

I'm just so used to seeing them with their eyes covered now

silver sparrow
#

@fleet moat I finished bly

#

Much feel

glass plinth
#

Mine colonies

#

I like this

fleet moat
#

@silver sparrow You likey? ablobgrin

glass plinth
#

Thanks for pointing that mod out leon. I just got back into minecraft after many years away. Still looking up mods

silver sparrow
#

Yes and no

#

Story good

#

But still sad

fleet moat
#

I looooved the story. Def sad. Very very very bittersweet.

#

Infinite feels.

silver sparrow

Reminds me that life isnโ€™t fair but people go on

fleet moat

Very true ๐Ÿฅบ

silver sparrow
#

Makes me want to be blue smoosh but Iโ€™m not at my computer

#

I guessed some of the things

cinder vessel
#

@glass plinth np, i think i kinda like effortless building & building gadgets more, even if they don't achieve the same kinda thing i was looking for

glass plinth
#

Yeah Im more a colony type of person

#

I like managing systems

cinder vessel
#

I do too, but having it modded in looks a tad too clunky for my tastes, hence liking the look of Autonauts over that

glass plinth
#

Ahhh

cinder vessel
#

(not a mod, but a separate, full game)

glass plinth
#

Hey, since your in mc as well, can you get summerfields texture mod working?

#

Or is it just me and I cant?

#

Im sorta miffed, since its my mainstay

shadow tartan
cinder vessel
#

So far I've still only found Stonehearth to be closest to what I'd kinda like from a basebuilder-ish thing

#

I've not really used that texture pack, so can't speak to that =/

glass plinth
#

Well if your willing to try and can get it to work, let me know

#

Lol

cinder vessel
#

I tried a few briefly but none ever worked as thoroughly as I liked, lol

glass plinth
#

Yeah

#

Summerfields is the only one I love

#

It changes the game entirely

#

Every little aspect is so... beautiful

#

But thats just my taste lol

winter yew
#

@austere lance how you liking playthrough 3? D:

austere lance
#

Absolute fuckin warzone rn

winter yew
#

YAA

#

I was not ready for it and ended up bringing a lot of Large health restores lmao.

#

got my ass beat ๐Ÿ˜ญ

daring spear
#

I got curious about why Subnautica: Below Zero has been a little rough
apparently their voice acting studio closed because of lockdown stuff in the UK. that would definitely hinder things

#

I just want it to go to console... but it won't until it's officially v1.0

silver sparrow
#

Ruff

#

Waiting for ps4

glass plinth
#

Im not exactly surprised its rough

#

THey explained they arent just porting over assets and remaking a new subnautica based off the bones of the old game

#

More or less this is a different game engine, partly

#

So itll be rough, just like the first

#

Plus side, we saw how the first turned out after years

daring spear
#

they mostly have the game itself done, there's some polishing and the story needs finished the rest of the way. but the voice acting seems to be the main issue based on what it says on their website

#

this was all said in May but not a lot has changed in the world between then and now as far as closed stuff goes

cinder vessel
#

Did Subnautica ever sort out its performance funk? I think I remember there being an update to try to help some more with that...

it mostly works

I never knew it had issues

Lol

daring spear
#

I'm sure it's smoother on things more badass than our one-s

#

it's jsut.... sad, on there

cinder vessel
#

S0ul & Spirit mentioned really long load times, and there are other reports around about performance tanking

glass plinth
#

Hrmm yeah, I cant confirm console play

#

I only use pc

daring spear
#

my main file takes half an hour to load on our console. and occasionally the environment decides not to load in properly

#

it lags when surfacing too

cinder vessel
#

About to say, thought I remembered environment load-in issues

glass plinth
#

Yeah, for me, I never experienced that. However, running on 32gb ram, ssd and such

#

So that probably has a lot to do with it

daring spear
#

probably

#

one day, I'll have a decent gaming PC. not that I'm picky about what I play on, but there's some stuff I would just rather experience on PC sometimes

my "pc" is a refurbished gaming laptop from 2009 lol
it works for less intensive games like Stardew Valley. I'm pretty sure if I tried to put Win10 on it, it would literally explode

that's kinda how my current laptop is tbh

daring spear

I dunno if skyrim would run on this or not. I usually just get smaller games. I don't want to overwork the poor thing too much

#

glass plinth
#

If you ever do build one, let me know

I never considered a mini one, for some reason. I'll keep that in mind

not bad, considering

Fuck, I got drawn into Autonauts. Something about trying to get those bots somewhat self-sustaining is entrancing

Instead of working to upgraded memory in basic bots, I spent some time figuring out the best I could get within the limited memory. There's a surprisingly decent amount you can do within the basic bots' limits.

However, still find yourself needing 2 basic bots for harvesting & gathering respectively.

#

Interestingly tho I was able to get a basic bot to retrieve resources, craft desired item, & deposit some of that item into storage then loop that whole process.

austere lance

They actually sent her one, LMAO

#

Snoop Dogg has one too

#

His is full of gin and juice, lol

bronze wind
#

i actually cant even find a good comparison that makes the remaster look better than the original at all, looks like the changed a lot of the interesting textures

#

kind of a bummer

austere lance
#

I played through it and had a good time ablobshrug

bronze wind
#

okay lol.. i didn't say anything about the experience. just weird that it's called a remaster, though I suppose that doesn't necessarily imply better textures

#

it was free for people that owned the existing games anyway tho so not like it's a buy in for anyone who likes the old stuff

austere lance
#

It definitely looks and sounds better than the original while you're playing, screenshots and dumb little marketing clips don't do it justice

#

My only issue was no shooting while using Plasmids

bronze wind
#

well it has better lighting in some ways and the meshes seem updated, most of the details that are worse are things most people probably don't care about. just weird that they were changed or touched in the way they were imo

#

but yeah they didnt' fix bugs or anything between versions lol

#

not that i would've expected that in a remaster necessarily

austere lance
#

Guns+Plasmids combo was why I always like Bioshock 2 better than 1 ๐Ÿ˜†

#

Plus 2 had a much better hacking minigame

bronze wind
#

2 was really good, i liked it more than 1 for sure

austere lance
#

Hacking in 1 is atrocious

#

With the stupid little pipes

bronze wind
#

most things in 1 were kinda clunky honestly lol, obviously super fun at the time it came out tho

#

still fun now but not as smooth as i remember

#

also yeah those pipes suck lmao

#

better than the new Deus Ex games' hacking stuff though, not that that's a high bar.

#

better than the new Deus Ex games' hacking stuff though, not that that's a high bar.
@bronze wind wha, new Deus Ex hacking > Bioshock pipe game any day imo, lol

austere lance
#

I don't even remember how you hack in the new Deus Ex games

cinder vessel
#

in Human Revolution it's like a sort of node control minigame as I recall

#

You try to take over nodes to get to the target without setting off security, but they tempt you with rewards for hacking side nodes so you're balancing out whether you hack more than needed or just go for the target

full pivot
charred badge
#

@bronze wind it's a text game. I'm not sure how it can be uglier or nicer

#

As long as the font is ok

#

Why bioshock infinite feels different: it's a theme park action FPS, whereas older Bioshocks are RPG/FPS

#

Well, further anyway

bronze wind
#

@cinder vessel I just hate the chance based approach. Sure you can upgrade to reduce but it's just not very fun when there's random chance applied. I'd rather have a mini game that scales with the level of node

charred badge
#

That's basically Dues Ex

bronze wind
#

And what do you mean "text game" lol

charred badge
#

Well, the originals

#

Rogue is made entirely of text and punctuation.

#

...oh, you meant the pc remaster image

#

Oops

bronze wind
#

I'm confused, when did we start talking about that

#

Oh okay lmao

cinder vessel
#

I don't remember having as much trouble with the chances in it, but yeah, I get that

charred badge
#

You said it right after my rogue screenshot and I'm a goof

bronze wind
#

It's not that it was necessarily trouble, but if you don't spec into hacking security right away you deal with like 45% chance detection in a network that has like 5 nodes to the last and a 15 second countdown

#

You can use items to help but it's just not as satisfying when it's RNG until you max out the tree

#

That's honestly the only part I hate though, the rest is good. I was def being hyperbolic when complaining about it before lol

cinder vessel
#

knowing me i probably went for upgrading my hacking abilities ASAP

bronze wind
#

I do as well because otherwise it sucks

#

But one issue is I feel like most areas with low hacking requirements have like 10 other points of entry

#

It's not until you get to stuff like rooms with lvl 5 access or safes that it becomes even more annoying if you haven't maxed out

#

Very thankful for multitools at least

cinder vessel
#

yeah, that game has a lot of curious balancing acts it tries to play

bronze wind
#

I do love them though, been playing through mankind divided this past week actually

#

stealth gunplay is so fun

charred badge
#

I always go for skills that provide new options over stat increases or combat variety

#

It gets me in trouble with Bethesda games ๐Ÿ™„

bronze wind
#

i don't bother with non lethal, silencer on a pistol + headshots works for most areas unless they're armored lol

#

yeah it's sort of an issue in this game as well, you can be a "jack of all trades master of none" type of person and then have a lot of trouble getting past optional obstacles

charred badge
#

Well, the trouble comes up when combat is forced

bronze wind
#

True. That's definitely a thing in Deux Ex but the weapon advancement is completely separate from the augmentation/skill tree part

charred badge
#

If a game has a lot of social/technical methods to solve problems without fighting, so speccing into noncombat stuff is very helpful, but then forces a head-on fight...
I usually have a bad time.

bronze wind
#

Aside from a few upgrades like recoil reduction and tagging targets, which aren't necessarily that important for boss fights

charred badge
#

Apparently the DE reboots patched in alternative solutions for boss fights

bronze wind
#

There are definitely more sneaky/technical solutions for bosses

charred badge
#

On release there were flat-out forced boss fights

bronze wind
#

Like luring them close to explosives or using specific items

#

yeah i honestly didn't notice the difference cause I always go lethal with very little care for stealth lol

charred badge
#

Heh

#

I find stealth nonlethal to be the most interesting

bronze wind
#

it probably would be, i just absolutely suck at stealth and also forget to save all the time lol

charred badge
#

I liked how the first game handled it, where nonlethal methods generally rewarded nonlethal supplies

#

Getting more stunner ammo, etc

#

Which was the first reboot?

bronze wind
#

human revolution

charred badge
#

I was having a grand time with the super lifting upgrade for stealth

#

Yeah

bronze wind
#

second was mankind divided

charred badge
#

Because the AI is hilariously stupid

bronze wind
#

yeah super strength is super useful early on

charred badge
#

I have a screenshot of me hiding behind a vending machine I moved to the middle of the hallway

bronze wind
#

lmao

charred badge
#

The guard just sorta staring at it

bronze wind
#

i wanted to sneak past a guard who was in front of a laser grid

#

i had the remote hacking perk so i disabled the grid using that

charred badge
#

Did you trick him into walking into it

bronze wind
#

then walked up next to him and crouched, moved into the restricted area so he'd move a little bit, then when he settled he for some reason had no idea where I was even though I was crouched literally 2 feet diagonally in front of him

#

so i just walked by and he didn't notice

charred badge
#

I did a similar thing in Divinity.
Used telekinesis to move large objects between guards and things I wanted to pick

bronze wind
#

lol smart

charred badge
#

Hmm, why did that painting move off the wall and stand in front of the safe? Eh, probably the wind.

bronze wind
#

couldn't possibly be anything else

#

if you want to know the extent my lethal playthough goes to, even when i knock people out with a takedown i always shoot them in the head until they're dead after with a silenced pistol

charred badge
#

I do love how when you enter sneak mode in that game, you pull out a crate or barrel to walk around in

bronze wind
#

yeah that was funny to me as well lol

charred badge
#

It has the side benefit of making it very very obvious when you're in sneak stance

bronze wind
#

definitely good for an isometric game

Avoids the hmm, is my character crouching or is that an animation?

The main thing is that there's no way to know if they're actually gonna fucking finish the game when they do that

#

The only Early Access I've seen actually working is Grounded's. It's been pretty fun to watch, every month they drop one big content update then refine it til the next big one. Player input is a huge part of it too, they do QOL patches and tweaks in-between big updates based on player info.

#

They just opened up a testing server people can join too, so people can check out and help find issues with new content before it drops

#

THAT'S how you do Early Access

Well, to be honest, the cost to develop a game has expotentially gone up. As the costs go up, standard production cycles become increasingly difficult. If a company wants control over its release, they require EA or otherwise they end up becoming dependent on larger studios which force them to develop games at a pace and manner which isnt befitting the project

#

its all about money in the end

#

Personally Id rather have a Early access game of larger scale games, then the alternatives.

#

Now large scale studios making early access games to milk money, that irritates me.

#

One of the best cases for early access I got to try was Rimworld.

#

Absolutely understandable the game took so long to develop, also they needed the money to develop the game.

@thorn dawn ha, you donโ€™t want to know how many hours I have played it.

#

Also, very much a masochist.

It's a balancing act, without a doubt, however I can't help seeing next to no reason to move on from Early Access if you're still more or less in prerelease development stages.

That's what gets me more than anything, because the moment you do that, whether you mean to or not, you're being completely fucking misleading about the state of your game.

You drop the Early Access/In Development label, I expect the game to be in something resembling a standard release state, not alpha or beta. If you continue to develop a game afterward with free content updates, cool, but I don't expect that from any release state game.

I couldn't play rust

If you drop the label, the game should be functioning

Tbh a company I would be very curious to see dabble with Early Access, even though it would probably backfire, is Bethesda.

Would Early Access help Bethesda release something more functional for a change? Probably not, but it would be nice if it helped

2nd half is a mood :/

Honestly, decent games making their way through Early Access are a little more of an exception than the rule, at least imo. Albeit I am very much aware of a good number of decent games making their way through it
