Idk. All this really depends on the person and how they want to approach it. One huge example for me though is No Man's Sky at launch. It was getting shit on and I bought it anyway day one. I loved it, despite all the negative attention it was getting.
Now it's evolved in the wrong directions to draw in the people who hated it so much.

I guess they had a pretty good turnout from this game, so they decided to do a 'full' console/pc version
while it looks prettier, it's still the same basic gameplay loop
There's a handful of contained missions that take place in each system, and then there's two exploration missions where you look around for crates to unlock more ships, and you can also mine
the way some of this stuff is hidden is pretty clever, i actually thought my game was bugged and sent a vid to the dev and they showed me the solution to my problem. I had flown into this one place and the entrance to where the crate was located was hidden just above the entrance to the base i went into x)
I was like 'no way!'
btw, the publisher of this game is the same publisher of Morphite, if you have heard of that game

The Elder Scrolls Online question - I don't really want to delve into one of their discords for something so small... I'm brand new at ESO. couple hundred hours of skyrim, but also brand new to MMOs.
Researching traits for crafting armor and weapons. Do you have to research each trait for each type of weapon? For instance, if I want to learn fire damage for bows, I also have to research it for axes? And spend the additional 7-1000 hours?

You have to learn traits separately for every craft item type
How to learn the traits: Dismantle stuff you find. if it has a trait you can learn, there's a chance you learn it that way
Sometimes what people do is get someone to craft them a set of a particular type of gear they want and then they dismantle the entire set to get the traits for themselves
I don't know if that still works, but I can't see why it wouldn't
Most common use of this strategy is learning how to make "xp gear" for leveling faster.

It's almost not worth getting into crafting in ESO because of how gimmicky it is.
It's just a time sink with bonuses that are largely inconsequential in pvp and not necessary in pve. It's a system of crafting that really only rewards you if your end-goal is to run dungeons with groups of people.

I honestly think that was on purpose, but I wish they'd have designed the entire system to make that clear.
Make learning easier and add bonus perks that require that additional time after a certain level (ie 50) if you're still doing the custom design stuff at end-game
That way everyone of all play types gets to enjoy the full gambit, not waste thousands of hours "researching" or money trying, and they still aren't as powerful as a character designed for group play with custom gear over 50 running dungeons.
but of course you can get to 50 and finish the entire game never really getting into crafting gear
Which personally, I'd recommend (for the above reasons)
If you haven't beaten the main story, spending so much time crafting, then finish the game - You might burn out and resent the game for wasting so much of your time if you don't enjoy that kind of gameplay.

I don't blame them, honestly, but all they got going for them online are gimmicks that rob from the single player campaign and repackage gimped for online.

there's a texture pack that is super close to this look, and using a good shader gets you to it very close
