I think Breakpoint does it great, any upgrades you get for a type of gun, carry over to higher ranked versions - so you aren't wasting anything by upgrading when low level
And the gear option is nice also - when you get gear you unlock it for use as just the model - not affecting your current gear stats

A lot of these games don't seem to get the appeal of building, particularly from Minecraft, was the immediacy of just being able to plop down blocks and build. Whatever grind was there was just gathering blocks and blocks of differing durability

welp after playing a while and fiddling with settings for better part of past hour, i came to a conclusion.

it works fine, when it does, but this ungodly amount of stutter fucking drives me absolutely insane. these freezes are unbearable.
Like, frames are not a problem at all, but it tends to fucking freeze for up to 20 seconds, during cutscenes, out in the wilderness, in towns it happens the most, it's just... FUCK does it hurt.
And you think one freeze and it's over? Oh fuck no, sometimes it freezes for 10 seconds, then unfreezes, and a second later it's another 10 seconds of waiting. Like fuck me.
someone mentioned reducing the amount of cores the game uses could potentially help with freezing, but nope. even at 3/4 cores game turns literally unplayable. Like, seriously, literally. It's basically a slideshow, and the machine swapping slides is rusted to shit. Kinda funny to observe. 3 cores? Doesn't work at all. 4 cores? Perfectly fine again. but yeah it 100%'s is all the time, so I'm guessing it just chokes and dies, hence the freezing.
I'd wait tbh.
