@winter yew late response, but breakpoint was getting bagged on because Ubi did a Ubi and riddled the thing with microtransactions more than possibly any of their other titles to date.

They tried to improve the story but immediately shot themselves in the foot by being like, "You're the lone survivor to make it" only to have you quickly dumped into a social hub with a ton of other "lone survivors".

Lastly they had the usual launch day server issues that prevented folks from playing and caused them to lose progress, alongside which they dropped AI partners that were available in Wildlands which were probably the last tenuous connection these games had to previous Ghost Recon games (i.e. tactical squad-based gameplay).

if the game already had mtx in mind that's fine but when its added last moment I've noticed those games always tend to be buggy on day one

anger towards cosmetic mtx isnt my thing either but I get why they're still frowned upon, because some games constantly remind you of it and cover up the menu at worst cases
