People keep trying to tell me to play Dauntless lol. @austere lance
Taken from the new soundtrack option inspired by UFO Defence, included with the Tactical Legacy Pack DLC for XCOM 2. Support the makers of this soundtrack he...
@winter yew It's pretty fun, it's basically F2P Monster Hunter with less weapons and less grind. Pretty good for just hopping on for 20 minutes or so and killing stuff, I like it
Dauntless is fun but I stopped playing mainly due to a single monster
Kharabak is NOT FUN to fight AT ALL
Sounds like me when I kept getting destroyed by Nergigante
Nah, Nergi is nice when you learn him
Especially AT, such a good fight
But Kharabak goes invisible at one point and it just
sucks
Ok I gave Warframe a chance.
It's dope AF.
My question now is, how much platinum do I need?
I tried so hard to get into warframe it just didn't grab me
Use your starting platinum to buy inventory slots for warframes and weapons
Ah nice, I already did that and hoped it was a right choice.
Yup good choice
I'm not far at all. I'm about to unlock Mars from Venus, I just have 1 more objective to do on the list. I've got a thing on Earth telling me I need an Archwing or something like that but I've ignored it assuming I'll get to that eventually.
Yeah youβll get to that eventually
yea i cant get archwing
spent too much time grinding for it and i gibe up, over 5 hours of the same thing
It's gunna chew through a ton of my time. I genuinely wish I had given it a real chance before.
Meh, too repetitive and grindy for me
The grind isn't too bad tbh.
The excavation things are easy farming.

@winter yew You try building a frame yet?
I am.not kidding
6 yesterday I think.
You will do more
rookie numbers
I force stopped and uninstalled .so no issues for me
Cause for some reason I decided that when I created this account like 5 years ago.
Duck Warframe
I can't stand that game and it makes me sad that I don't like it
Because it seems super fun but I've tried it like 9 times and never enjoyed it
Man I played all the way up to "A new Dream" or whatever it's called
I got to like MR 13
But man I hated it
I think I've tried to get Into Warframe every single year since it released
And just never really, GOT it
Shame =\
I was like that before but it just clicked with me this time around.
I've had a ton of fun.
On another note, Oblivion finished installing
Yeah I've tried at least 4x and the grind, combat, and dumbass enemy AI turn me away every time
Oblivion was good af back when it released, I went wild on it π
480p being "medium" quality is yikes
4k Oblivion, fuck yes
Time to play Oblivion for the first time in like, 11 years
No controller support, big yikes
The gameplay, graphics, and character models are heinous nowadays, lol. Story and DLC's are fantastic tho
Shivering Isles is still one of my favorite DLC's of all time
Good old Oblivion where "E" is the jump key
And spacebar is interact
Look how far we've come
Lmao
It had decent controls on Xbox 360, waaaaaaay better than Morrowind's π¬
Morrowind has disgusting gameplay
Tfw absolute max settings on Oblivion is about equal to skyrims worst lmao
Not too bad
You can mod Oblivion tho
Not without internet yeet
Oof
Get yoself some interwebz, steal it from your neighbors π
Lug your computer to McDonald's
It activates on the 16th
Lug
Computer
To
McDonald's
When's Elon gonna be done putting his thousands of internet satellites in orbit
Nyx, you can say you get your internet back tomorrow, tomorrow.
Why do I have 41 mods installed on Skyrim
Oh god, I still have 2 GB left of room for mods too
Don't put Link's clothes on a modded Wood Elf vampire π
tbh Link's outfit looks weird outside of LoZ in general
but the green is def too bright and in your face for Skyrim i think
Yeah, Skyrim is always so gloomy
Gotta mod the gloominess out
I think I'll stick with my old look, lol
Gotta Hulk smash a motherfucker in Gwent to show em who's boss π
tbh i feel like the Elder Scrolls games from Morrowind onward are great examples of games that aged terribly in almost every aspect
Visually, gameplay, etc.
Idk, I'm still playing Skyrim almost 8 years after I first got it
I'll agree with you on Oblivion tho, it's aged like an old turd in a boot π
Skyrim is honestly worse to me in some respects, mainly the whole color palette being bland as hell
but it did at least make character models somewhat better, albeit still pretty bleh
I've never really checked out mods for Oblivion but I'm pretty sure it takes a ton of mods to make it remotely fun and not π€’, takes me like 5 with Skyrim
probably because Skyrim is a FPS with a dash of RPG where Oblivion was still in the process of figuring out which it wanted to be more of
Oblivion was an attempt to streamline it for console. skyrim just continued that direction
they've said before that there was a lot of feed back about morrowind being really clunky on console.
personally i feel like the series in general started dumbing down after Daggerfall
skyrim was fun, just not even remotely an rpg. it's action adventure like Redguard was
it's all twitch. your skills count for almost nothing
your ability to hit the enemy is determined by your twitch skills
I don't really base my definition of rpg on how easily I can hit an enemy
doesn't matter if your character is a god swordsman, if you suck and have bad twitch skills, your character sucks.
I mean that's true of any game lol
not so.
If you aren't good at the game then you can't take advantage of powerful items
Very so
there used to be lots of games in which your characters abilities were not dictated by your abilities
You still have to understand how to use those abilities though
but you don't have to have the dexterity. now it doesn't matter if your character is a god at something, if you don't have the fps twitch skills, your character is shit. that's not an rpg, that's an action adventure.
If you're nitpicking you could call it whatever you want
it's not nitpicking, it's a fundamental change in game design
It has plenty of rpg elements, just because the weapons aren't handled how you specifically determine an RPG should handle them doesn't mean it's not an rpg
Not all RPGs need to be turn based or hotkeys
like i said Skyrim is fun. i didn't say it shouldn't be the way it is. no not all games need to do things that way. but by doing things the way elder scrolls does it, it's just continued to move away from roleplaying and moved toward action adventure. that's fine, it's just not roleplaying
what are twitch skills
to be clear Elder Scrolls never really was an rpg. they've just contined to move away from the notion of it being a roleplaying game and toward action adventure. the first move in that direction was Redguard.
when the reception wasn't great, they temporarily moved back
but they've steadily moved the series in that direction. methodically
expect 6 to be even more so. I'm expecting aspects of 6 to be flat out first person shooter
Skyrim is still RPG, as most TES games are
in roleplaying your characters stats and skills determine his success on die rolls. that's almost entirely gone for elder Scrolls now. Oblivion paid it lip service. the last one to really do things that way was daggerfall, but lots of people hated that you could physically see the sword swinging past the monster but it would miss. well, that's because your character wasn't good enough so he missed. that's roleplaying.
now you have the coordination or you don't, your character has nothing to do with it
I'd say that's more a dice game than a roleplaying game
Or maybe even tabletop
The most important part is that you are, indeed, playing a role
And you can fill that role however you like
that's a roleplaying game. they are table top dice roll games. crpg is computer roleplaying game, we just shortened it to call them rpg's as well
Today, RPG games are where you play a role, not a roll
the further a computer games moves away from the way a table top rpg worked, the less it becomes an rpg. Skyrim has almost nothing left of the tabletop rpg, and thus i dont call it an rpg. it's an action adventure, which btw is what Bethesda called Redguard. that's not a term i came up with
The boundaries between rpg and any other genre are already kinda vague, but I'd definitely say that using tabletop games as a guideline is probably a bad idea if you wanna judge things accurately
RPG is broad, TTRPG and CRPG are more specific
you aren't really playing a role in skyrim. you are playing you. your skills is what matters, not your characters. all your characters skills do is allow you to do different things. they aren't really skills they are unlockable abilities.
I do agree, though, that skyrim abilities mean, like, nothing unless you're playing at an insanely high level
Elder Scrolls games are classified as Sandbox RPG's
i mean in DnD its both anyway
you play the role and then your actions are based on the roll
i know they are classified as that, they just aren't.
i am heavily anti-metagame
they're still RPGs in a very basic sense but it's meh
when people OOC ask me stuff when i play DnD i completely ignore them haha
the table talk is only after playtime is over; like the post-game interview
meta is for weaklings
for me RPG is more about like a choose your own adventure story than it is to do with stats or whatever so stuff like Skyrim still has that, but the adventures you're choosing to go on aren't that narratively interesting to me
but i mean putting it that way a lot of other RPGs would be closer to visual novels but with grind, lol
RPG is a weird genre, it's like the difference between rogue-likes and rogue-lites
Which I still don't know
If anyone wants to clear that up, please do
just imagine looking at me and trying to talk to me like im a 7 foot tall half-orc barbarian π
that's skill i think
rogue-like is a game based on the mechanics of a game called "rogue" which started the genre
and lite is just that but more forgiving
i think someone here described rogue-like as being sorta random gen adventures where you start over & over without any progress retention, rogue-lite as that but like Aethena said, more forgiving, mostly by retaining your progress
To me, rogue-like is you lose everything when you die, rogue-lite you still keep some kind of progression.
Ahh
So Streets of Rogue (out on console and steam now, pls check it out, free demo on itch.io) has a character select
The levels are random, and you lose everything if you die, but at the start you can load into a loadout of a character
to be rogue like is a dungeon hack that uses ansi graphics
sound familiar?
if it's not ansi graphics its not rogue-like
that entirely untrue
that's just my personal opinion
Wait are you like
its the gameplay aspects that define it
Being serious or
Yeah, really, originally... But then it started being applied to pretty much anything with permadeath.
you don't define genre on the "look" of a game
when i think of rogue-like i think ansi graphics first and foremost.
like "souls-like" doesn't require a dark fantasy look
Dwarf Fortress is more roguelike than most of the so called "rogue-like" games out there
then you had Telegard, Temple of Apshai, Ziggurat. i would call all those roguelike, though i think all those are older that Rogue
not familiar with that one
The Binding of Isaac: Antibirth OST. All credit goes to mudeth for making such an astounding soundtrack. Buy it here: https://mudeth.bandcamp.com/album/antib...
(it won't explain the game fyi)
just cool OST
Did the newest DLC come out for that yet?
"The Forgotten"
and Apollyon
it was Afterbirth β
but that's been out for a while yeah
Antibirth is a mod
Ahh, it is
I think I only ever got one mod
The Binding of Undertale
Just so I could play as sans
its kinda like a NMS situation right? Afterbirth+ is the dev version and Antibirth is something another batch of the community wanted
i think both are cool
Yeah
I've heard people say that Afterbirth+ kinda dropped the ball, while Anitbirth is like
The best ever
yeah because Antibirth is more community driven right
tbh that's why im always in love with strong modding communities
its hard to generate something as a dev to appeal to such a vast fanbase but if you allow it to be customized; it can appeal to everyone
points to XCOM2 in that regard since they fully endorsed the modding community from day 1
Yeah, it's so good
Not only does it give the game more life and the fans more things they want in-game, it lets the devs work on other things
win-win-win
also those remixes of the classic OST
i actually listen to those when im not playing the game
Taken from the new soundtrack option inspired by UFO Defence, included with the Tactical Legacy Pack DLC for XCOM 2. Support the makers of this soundtrack he...

the only issue is this played in the OG Xcom when using an interceptor not the skyranger
the air combat is pretty decent in Xenonauts
you can use 1980s tech planes to fight UFOs π
Holy fuck
apparently using alien tech you also invent the internet hahaha
its a brutal rendition of XCOM 1993 though just be aware
i completely failed at it haha
I haven't played a single XCOM game ever so uh
"completely failed" won't even begin to describe what I do
well it was from '93 you can imagine what that's like
Xcom: Enemy Within is π
there's a well scripted progression in new XCOM whereas in XCOM 1993 you can get anything and everything thrown at you from day 1
XCOM2 is like on my top 10 games of all time list :3
which is funny cuz i rarely ever hear about it π
I've seen the new one
XCOM 2
Uh, well, it's the newer XCOM2, I imagine the old one was all pixely
I haven't played 2 yet, I played the shit outta Enemy Within tho
yeah XCOM UFO Defense was super pixelated
Yee
i loved that part
The only good parts of Dawnguard are Auriel's Bow, the Snow Elf armor, and being a vampire lord. Fuck everything else, Dragonborn is a MUCH better DLC
boy i dont know about that
99% of Dawnguard just feels like busywork
i loved the whole soul cairn part
wasn't as good as shivering isles for oblivion, but it was good
dragonborn kept glitching for me.
eventually had to use a cheat to get past a part at the end because the gate never unlocked
i absolutely loved the castle in dawnguard
dragonborn never really made any sense to me either. how could there be this big event that happened with a previous dragonborn but nobodies ever heard of it.
would be like if they had just now introduced the idea of Tiber Septim but nobody's ever heard of him before now
Castle Volkihar looks π with mods
Tfw you're in the Soul Cairn but haven't even gotten the Horn of Jurgen Windcaller for the Greybeards yet
trying to recall if i played either from fresh start. don't think so
and yeah i did eventually use mods for the castle to make it even better. but it was great to begin with.
i did like getting to return to solstheim with dragonborn, but i think i had more fun with it in Morrowind
i would have liked an official expansion to the Dwarven underworld
make it even bigger and go deeper. discover more history about them and go deeper into the ground and into who they were
i thought about doing a mod like that
would be a ton of work
find ancient Dwemer books that you have to bring to the surface to someone to be translated and researched, then you get a translated copy with notes explaining what it could mean
i hoped for a long time that we'd learn more about the Dwemer and what happened as the series progressed, but looks like they intend to just keep them as the great mystery that will never be answered
There's an interesting fan-made DLC called Forgotten City that has multiple endings, one of which might interest you if you like the Dwemer π
so, this gen of consoles, what would be some of the underrated titles from the bigger publishers to you all?
Itβs like the Precursors in Halo.
We donβt know what stake they have in the 2550βs, but we do know some of what they did and what happened to them.
Some of it is sketchy, (sourced from the Primordial) but it seems to more-or-less hold up.
@cinder vessel For Xbox I'd say Ashen and Rare Replay
Oh, bigger publishers. Nvm on Ashen
Fe is good too
Styx: Shards of Darkness is supposed to be good if you love hard stealth games
Ruiner is hella fun
Lol, I like how ya keep listing smaller devs' stuff, or at least what I was pretty sure was smaller devs stuff
Fe seems like it'd be pretty cool, and not gonna lie Rare Replay has tempted me to pick up a Xbox One
I keep thinking of VR titles, but I'm not sure if they should count considering how VR is still pretty niche
wait, is it? π€
Fuck big publishers, I like lesser-known games like Ashen and Ruiner
they both have value to add to the market right?
i wouldn't want either to completely disappear
smaller lesser-known can innovate and create the amazing ideas
bigger studios can focus on perfecting a tried and true formula
that would be my gaming dream tbh
@austere lance I love Annapurna- really good publisher
Ignoring the Epic Games stuff
well when i'm asking about the underrated stuff from big publishers i'm basically asking about the stuff from their smaller studios
or smaller teams
@distant badge stare into the abyss of Starbase π
Eh, not so much my thing. Plus it doesnt have VR.
I did look into it though
It seems way too focused on the super indepth, almost minecraft "redstone" levels of crafting and stuff. But interested to see how it fares.
I gotcha, just know hey if you want some other scifi space thing to be drooling over it seems one to keep an eye on
Yeah, NMS VR(Beyond) seems way more compelling to me, especially if the multiplayer is decently implemented now.
So uh, Pirate Witcher? π
https://youtu.be/87HvOLuU5Ls
GreedFall announces September 10 release date with swashbuckling new trailer GreedFall, the latest RPG from Spiders studio, invites you to forge your destiny...
Besides that I think Outer Wilds is probably the only recent scifi exploration game to dig into
^^^
Outer wilds is fire
Outer Worlds might be nice to keep an eye on
Then a fair bit older than that but still pretty neat is The Solus Project
Solus was more horror oriented, no?
Solus project is incredible. Absolutely one of the most powerful experiences I've had in VR.
Not really Whale
Solus is not horror at all @lavish obsidian
It's dark but not horror
It's tense? But it's not horror.
Yeah, a bit tense, a bit dark (both literally and figuratively) but not quite horror
Oriented
Definitely not horror, I would say. At all.
I hate horror games, and cannot play them in VR...too scary. But I beat Solus project in VR.
Definitely puts you on edge, it's tense. It's atmospheric. But it's not horror, imo.
There's no like...jump scares or something
Kind of surprised you dug the VR as much as ya did, I've played a bunch of it in VR and while it's decent it didn't grip me as much as I thought it might
I'd say my first jawdropping experience would be Aircar
Solus project got completely inside my mind. I was totally immersed in that game in VR.
I was getting literal chills/goosebumps on my body from the hype, at certain sections of that game.
I found it a tad too fiddly to get drawn into like that. Weirdly I felt more sucked into Statik
Did you play it recently, or during the initial VR support patch?
Solus or Aircar?
Solus several months back, now
The intial VR support was very barebones and janky. The later huge VR update, with hand controls and improvements...made it much better./
Oh, yeah. That was after the main VR update then
I played it for the Touch support and it did feel janky to me
That was in 2018
Lone Echo was a masterpiece for what it did, honestly
Pacing was an issue however
I'm not one who cares that much about....how much "vr" is implemented as far as exclusive controls or features built around VR....I just need a quality experience playing out on screen for the magic to happen (for me, personally). And Solus was so atmospheric and immersive....and it was just the kind of thing I wanted to experience in VR....so it really blew my mind.
Yeah, it definitely nails the atmosphere
Can't disagree with that
the first super tornado scared the shit out of me even not in VR
The fiddly part for me was like the little computer you carry around felt hard to read at times, and trying to get the teleporter thing tossed the right way
I'm a bit older in regards to that- my favorite experience was a DK2 private demo, not sure if it released
Absolutely yeah @cinder vessel Pad controller thing was janky a bit.
old people
I'm like, we now have the extra resolution and the toys to play with so if we're at it we can improve it by a lot
I just used smooth locomotion for walking though...so I didnt need to teleporter much
Either way tho, I love love love that The Solus Project gives you so many options to adjust things to your comfort/liking
facts
For sure
is the solus project really the baseline?
which makes it arguable
But it is a great experience though π Especially, mainly, referring to VR.
Less atmospheric, more rogue-lite & horror-esque, but still scifi, might like The Persistence
I doubt I'd care about the game much if I didnt play through it in VR.
Well, maybe not less atmospheric, but just a different vibe
I'd say Windlands made good use of roomscale and Touch- as well as being atmospheric and delivering on the comfort options
i loved Solus without VR
Spoilers (but not really, it happens within the first like 20 mins)...when that storm kicks up and the tornado happens...? OMG fam. I had the biggest, stupid, smile on my face...my body was like tingling from the hype. I was so enraptured by that, I couldnt believe it when it happened.
Was so happy to be near-ish a tunnel when that hit, lol
VR was very new to me then, when I played Solus, but I played it again recently and Solus still had a pretty profound effect on me. I'd say definitely a VR experience worth checking out, if you're into singleplayer stuff at all.
It just nailed the immersion for me. I was so captivated, exploring that crazy world in VR...and unraveling things.
Yeah, any time folks are yearning for something NMS, be it news or whatever, I tend to recommend The Solus Project to kill some time
Outer Wilds VR is another one that would be perfect.
Because it'll definitely keep ya busy and get your mind away from NMS for a bit
I really hope that happens someday
Epitasis is pretty cool, feels like NMS launch
It's not VR, but The Signal From Tolva is another solid scifi adventure
Yeah, nowadays....if I'm going to play something like that I'd prefer it in VR. It's just so much more effective in regards to those types of games, for me.
Competitive games I still completely prefer normal monitors.
being away from reality is what i want VR for
i really don't even care about it being a game
I'm really picky about how/when I play stuff in VR, have to have a cool room, prefer to have had something to eat beforehand
VR in a warm room is blegh
Oh yeah, AC is a must ofcourse lmao
I don't remember why but for some reason I found myself playing a bit of Solus and the AC wasn't kicking in and i was just like why am i doing this
you're picky? woah
lol
He's right though. VR in a hot room is terrible. It's just something that pulls you out of the experience because it's reminding you that you're actually standing in a hot room.
not everyone's around enough to know the depths of my nonsense
im not gonna spoil!
aw, thx
β€
but yeah i think the most basic things for VR are lighting and temp, not even a me thing in that regard, tho i guess some people may mind the heat/lighting less
Demoing VR at stores with everything lit up around you is uhhh somethin'
Headsets do a pretty good job of keeping the outside light out but yeah
so they were demoing a thing to make walking a thing; it was a treadmill type deal
with a gun thing for your hands
demo'd on HL2
apparently it was still incredibly disorienting
huh, i know of the different treadmill stuff, not so much the gun thing
its also garbage for the gamer community cuz they'd all have a heart attack actually running places π
lol
ik that the oculus i have does track actual movement
it def throws me off balance tho
@cinder vessel Lighting? I dont care what lighting I have when VRing.
stepping into another virtual area is too much
considering i "know" im still in my room
I just need a room, a clothespin(to anchor the cord to me, and relieve cord weight, etc), AC unit on, and that's it fam
no one wants to face Freddy in their underwear :c
I do it in the bedroom, just flip my bed up (no headboard) against the wall and then have mostly the whole room (the other stuff is just around the edges of the room).
hence no one wants to face Freddy Fazbear in their undies
Roomscale adds a ton to immersion. If only because you arent constantly thinking about bumping into stuff in your play area.
I can swing a pull bunch, or do a dancing twirl and kick my legs up, and give zero fucks
my room is larger than any space in FNAF
Truee FREEDOM
my room is probably about the size of a FNAF space tbh
regardless stepping across a virtual space naturally makes you disoriented
at least where I'd do any of that sort of thing
there's a mental disconnect
You move around using thumbstick still even having "roomscale". I just meant roomscale, in having a large play space.
Negative lol
in real life you're always aware of your body
Not any more so than any other games
Moving with a joystick really doesnt effect my immersion much at all
yeah moving around as a hunking piece of male musculature is no different than me moving around irl
I do a little walk-in-place to simulate the motions of walking...and I hold the joystick forward, pretty simple and effective for me.
?
i can sprint forever
You can adjust your height in VR
The features of the game, like being able to sprint long periods or something....dont make an experience not immersive for me.
Just because you cant do the thing IRL, doesnt mean you cant be immersed in it the experience of doing it in VR.
the intense unrealism doesn't make your brain question anything?
Not really

I have a pretty good imagination, and am usually able to get immersed in books and games pretty easily.
sorry but as a lucid dreamer anything unrealistic immediately breaks immersion
Yeah, that's a non-factor for me entirely.
Games have you doing incredible things all the time.
which are unrealistic
It's not about being "Realistic" though, at least what I was talking about isnt.
disorientation comes from knowing its not real
It's about immersion in the experience that's playing out.
even the 3d is an illusion
that's why motion sickness still exists for people using VR
Just because the experience doesnt fit within some narrow parameter that you define as "realistic" doesnt make it inherently not immersive. At least for myself.
Motion sickness is just because of a disconnect between what is happening with your eyes...and your body not feeling the motion of moving.
Very similar to car sickness.
i mean ok
Some people get over it, I did.
mansplain it to me
Some never do.
i concede
No explaining, I said "for myself at least" it was like that.
"Mansplain it to me"
My fuckin sides π
I know right lol. Not sure where that came from
you know the definition i hope
Certainly π
@potent cairn you here that bro? quit raiding, WoW is dead lets play some NMS
Downloaded a weird game called Battle Chasers: Nightwar, apparently it's based off a comic series. It's pretty damn fun if you like turn-based combat RPG's
It's fuckin hard, lol
Motion sickness mostly boils down to your body expecting sensory input from motion that eyes see
Same reason folks can't read and ride in a car, but reversed
Feeling motion and not seeing it
Sometimes I get really fucking pissed at a game so instead of raging I just go to bed cause I don't wanna deal anything
CSD2 when you realize you fucked up a sandwich order and serve them a single slice of bread xD
Bruh I've died like 4x to dogs on this Inside game, it's fucked
FUCK THIS SHOCKWAVE PUZZLE
shockwave
is very logical.

odd little game I need to get around to finishing
that trailer doesn't explain jack shit about the game
See what the automated future holds for humanity in this new story trailer for Headlander, the far out action-platformer from the fine Double Fine folks and ...
I finished Inside, pretty damn interesting but has a definite head-scratcher of an ending
Im turning this area into a storage right now

Nice
been a while since i played Minecraft
my main thing was always mining down into the depths. though exploring the surface can be fun too
only played a few times since the ender dragon stuff was added.
Mining is also my favorite thing to do in the game. You should definitely try and get back into playing it
After playing and finishing resident evil 5 this video is twice as funny https://youtu.be/SPKQsTnYDeo
God mining was the worst thing in minecraft for me
So much boring
Haha geddit boring
But no minecraft's underground is a whole lot of nothing, at the most the abandoned mineshafts are kinda cool
Oh also you don't even have much incentive to do that when you can find everything you need, just on the surface
exploring the caves and mining paths around lava lakes was my favorite
the abandoned mines didn't come till later and i didn't think they were that great
High-key wanna cop dayz next time it goes on sale
exploring underground was my favorite part of Terraria as well. i didn't get that much joy from building houses or castles
WOOHOO
Yeah, a revision almost
Unless you mean that this is a sign of the coming switch pro
I'm waiting for them to say "Now yours for a sweet $300" π
Better cpu, better battery..what else is there to even upgrade

If they make it any bigger, theh would need to call it a tablet
It p. much already is
The article heavily insists that it's just a few upgrades, not a switch pro or anything
Woop i will eat you if its labeled as switch pro
It will not be a switch pro
It was a revision of an existing console
I get u
It will fix the exploit in current Switch hardware that allows jailbreaking/emulators.
Battery life makes a difference imo
Aw yeah, did a fresh start of Splinter Cell Blacklist
Someday π’
Last splinter cell wasnt that same sinse Sam isnt voiced by Michael Ironside anymore π¦
it will never happen but i'd be really excited if nintendo ever just said fuck it and embraced homebrew
Switch Pro is the idea for a home only version, right?
Switch+ is probably like a 3ds xl
@rigid haven New 3ds wasn't really a new console. Just slightly upgraded hardware, second pair of triggers, and a laptop nub.
Yeah, but it was different enough to warrant a new name
Nice not needing to lug the second stick + triggers add-on for 3ds around
Tacking "new" onto it is a bit too literal for "a new name"
It completely screwed up resale though, so yay?

This kinda came out of nowhere... on one hand itβs cool to finally get a portable HLD (not counting the Switch version as I donβt own one) but it still sucks the vita version was canceled. https://toucharcade.com/2019/06/26/hyper-light-drifter-iphone-ipad/

Yee, it's pretty cool π
no Ordinator?
Nah, went through too many perk points to get to anything I liked
been a very long time since i played skyrim without ordinator
just added become a bard, haven't done anything with it yet. probably will start a new character for it.
You don't need to, it just lets you do Bard stuff
yeah that would be weird though
i need my characters to be narrower. i don't want a do everything character
if it's a paladin type i'll give him restoration, but otherwise fighters don't get magic.
most scattered character i've done was as assassin.
had a pretty broad range of skills
it convinced me that broad characters are bad.
they are essentially gods
even at low levels. get a few perks in a bunch of different skills and you're pretty unstoppable
if it was done right then having a broad character should make it take longer to get powerful. Skyrim has it backwards
My assassin just has Light Armor, Lockpicking, Sneak, Archery, Speech, and One Handed
so does anyone else here play perfect world?

Honestly if the $250 price is correct, this will boost PSVR sale massively.
Bundle this with PS5 and you got a cheaper alternative to PC VR.
Hmm, if it uses PS5 as base to stream games to the headset that would be cool
My only issue with wireless VR atm is that they're trying to jam everything in the headset and that results in more compromises to games/experiences to get it to work well
True
Unfortunately so. VR has always been a weird subject for me, a category that has died many times over but keeps being revived.
I'm not complaining, it's great to see progress being made to maybe eventually one day get it to a sensible price point that is affordable for the majority of people.
PS5 streaming straight to headset to me personally is a solid step forward in real freedom of movement.
Sony knows what they're doin though
I don't mind shortcomings
It'll get there
That's one of the fun parts of all this, watching it get better
Used to be fun to watch phones evolve, now I don't care
so anyone play perfect world , or everquest or star trek?
Zug I agree with that for sure, hopefully it becomes so normal we don't get excited about it anymore.
Ha I'm sure it will

btw anyone know which of the space games in the Steam sale are basically exclusive to Steam?
at a glance i think mainly Astroneer & Endless Space 2?
Rodina still early access
on second thought i guess Astroneer isn't really exclusive but who counts windows store as a viable option
it has been early access for almost 5 years now
Yes and he's still pushing updates.
isn't it basically one person, maybe two others?
One
one person made Ascent: The Space Game in 3 years x)
They probably quit their job to make it, Rodina is a dude having fun at the weekends.
Rodina has an update today.
Today
Astroneer?
Is he just hiring freelancers or something?
I thought they had a nice small team
Ayy thanks for posting that @cinder vessel , I was wondering when it was releasing
Valve should launch another orangebox pack including HLVR and and updated TF2
Or even TF3
or they should stop slacking and make HL3
@bronze wind yo no problem, it almost slipped by me that they had even announced that
I'm probably gonna wait out the exclusivity period, personally
There might be a HL prequel in development. Codenamed Citadel
i wonder how u can make a prequel to it xD
Honestly I think that's the best way to go for now
To not make HL3 when everyone expects it
you cant make it with Gordon as the protagnist thou
Gordon you play as baby
lol
I think not calling it HL3 is their best option at this point.
Yes
Press E to doodle
Anyway, with HLVR close, it's a bit dumb to doubt they won't continue the story
They're getting peoples' interest back up
Then BOOM
HL3 will feature a store.. where u can buy Gordons suit skins
Oh nice will buy
Just one small store in a 30x30 foot space and that's the game
π€’
Aaaagh Epic Games Store again why
Literally the last 6 games I was interested in are going to be EGS exclusives
Everyone says that it's an insecure platform prone to account loss, otherwise I wouldn't care that much if I had to use it
'cause they make more money through it, obvs
use a garbo email and generated pass? π€·
personally i'm just too lazy to deal with another client, lol
They won't bother making HL3 when they have the Project Borealis guys doing it for them, lol
Outer Worlds, Rebel Galaxy, Borderlands 3, Satisfactory - These in particular I really want to play
All EGS exclusive for now
Just a delayed wait IMO.
Outer Worlds will be on Microsoft's app too
You waited up until now, you can wait a little longer.
Yeah but no. π
I just hope there aren't dumb preorder exclusive contents/in-game unlockables you can only get on EGS
Not their horrid Windows store, I mean the new Xbox app for pc they're running Game Pass on
@winter yew
Ahhhh!
furthermore, with a game like BL3, if it has DLC, I worry it will be exclusive to EGS for 6 months even after the base game has been on Steam for awhile
There really aren't many actual facts supporting that it's "unsafe"
As always
"OMG IT'S STEALING YOUR STEAM FRIENDS LIST"
Yeah cause you enabled it.
I just don't want my account to get hacked
Then be sensible if you're gunna use EGS.
Probably as likely to have your Steam account hacked as EGS.
(I don't use EGS but I don't give a shit if others do)
Never had a problem with Steam
Modding is an essential part of gaming for me too
it's why I barely ever use my console
I wonder if Xbox Scarlet will have mod support
would be awesome if it did
For what it's worth Epic did have a bunch of account security issues before they opened the store, but probably a pain in the ass to find the articles on that after all the other articles about what they've been doing since
π€· Was just saying you're not screwed and having to wait for Epic exclusives to move to Steam since the Xbox app exists now
I'm genuinely more than happy to wait is my reason. I rarely buy games at launch.
yeah but who wants to use the Xbox app, lol
@cinder vessel Apparently it's light years better than the shit Windows store thing they had before
I've never used the Xbox app
It is better
Does it let you run Xbox games on your computer?
My current computer is probably about comparable to the current Xbox One X in terms of capabilities, but I own the original Xbox One
It's in beta, they're updating it constantly
Was gonna say, it's a pretty low bar to overcome the Windows Store's jankiness
any survival/building games in the NMS vein that i can run on a pc laptop?

life is feudal mmo is one of the biggest disappointments for me. i bought into it back before Wurm Unlimited released for the promise that when the mmo came out i'd have a free slot. it is so friggin laggy it's just unplayable. the controls are super glitchy, and when it's not crashing it's busy rubberbanding and just making life miserable.

Dauntless buggy as shit
yes
Am I just insanely lucky, cuz I never get as many bugs as other people do in games
Wait, are you playing on PS4
Cuz Dauntless on PS4 is a shit-show, lol
Yes
Got a no sound bug twice within about a 2 hour period which seems to only fix by closing the game. Good thing it's basically freetoplay early access. Besides the bugs, I'm surprised I've put the amount of time that I have into it
It's hella good on every other platform, lol
Shouldn't be
@brisk merlin Did you know Bad Juju has a hidden perk in D2 where it has a chance to cause an explosion?
It's like a 1% chance
and the explosion does roughly 10x the damage of a precision shot
Yeah it's pretty awesome, part of me thinks it's a hint at Necrochasm coming back in Shadowkeep
BRING BACK NECRO
Honestly it seems likely.
This happened before Outbreak came back, Skip grenades and swarm grenades started hitting critical damage, which isn't supposed to happen, and it turned out to be because they'd use the same programming for Outbreak nanites which can hit crits
So if the Necro effect is in game, they're most likely bringing Necro back

random warframe video i uploaded today https://youtu.be/gz8crs4qKQM
Just the last wave of this crazy proxy rebellion event in Warframe. Haven't uploaded a Warframe video in awhile.. so here it is! Music : Zardonic - Vigilante
Any of you heard of Geom Cube before?
Yeah
I'd never seen it around before while browsing a used stuff shop and decided to pick it up
It's basically 3D Tetris and that's a cool premise to me, soo hope it plays well
I miss these crappy cases that would easily break
honestly i love how compact they are
make them out of a better material and i'd be happy to see them more
What's weird is they still make these for music cds, like same crappy brittle material & everything
I don't really know why...
I would say go to the cardboard/paper sleeve approach but I hate how awkward it is to take discs out of those, especially if poorly sized, and also they just don't hold up worth a damn (which i guess is kind of the point)
Yep. Wonder when it's gonna change. Maybe we won't even see physical releases for future gen games
π
if it was GOG approach i don't think i'd mind
but they're an exception to the rule with that sort of stuff
So Geom Cube is fun!
It's also pretty forward-thinking. Customizable controls for the controller, and a cube display option that puts the face/level number on the cubes so you don't have to depend on colors to sort out how close you are to losing
Digging around, I think Geom Cube may have basically been a rip of Blockout, updated for newer hardware, considering the company that developed Geom Cube had begun work on a port of Blockout to the NES that was simply never released. π€
Btw, if you want to play something similar to Geom Cube, for free, someone made a sequel to Blockout authorized by the folks that hold the license to Blockout: http://www.blockout.net/blockout2/
BlockOut II is a free adaptation of the original DOS BlockOut including a online score database.
@cinder vessel there'sa game on sale on steam rn called Between the Stars. It's sorta like a mix of Rebel Galaxy and DnD lol. I picked it up and it's pretty fun.
It's in early access however.
Controls are a bit odd as well (i.e. mouse doesn't steer the ship, it's camera/aiming, while WASD is used for most of the control), but you get used to them a bit
They try to copy Elite for some things like power distribution, but it's simplified down enough to not be annoying
Hmm, also has a demo, so may have to check it out
Yeah lemme know what you think. Voice acting is pretty dull/cheesy, but you might just be able to disable it
reminds me, i checked the FAQ on their site and other PC storefronts won't see a release for about a year, so for those that prefer other storefronts it's release date + a year
Can't remember the ETA for console versions, but it's awhile after the PC release, which is to be expected
Started Resident Evil 7, so far I've screamed once and swore a helluva lot more π
Yea
Iβll probably wait until console and steam release to play it, otherwise I might pirate it :p
CONTROVERSIAL OPINION WARNING : I hate exclusivity deals, and Epicβs version of that is bullshit.
Extremely less bs than console exclusivity, but sure
Well mostly in regard to pc games
Can still play on PC, buy on PC, own on PC
Yes but in the case of stuff where some games have multiple in the series
Like Borderlands
And now Rebel Galaxy has two games
Having to require two different launchers for two games in a series is dumb to me
I guess, although I doubt you're switching betweenthem
Wanting to keep your library consolidated in one place makes sense though, I can see that part of it. But a lot of game you buy on Steam already require third party launchers anyway
Like any Ubisoft game
Ehhh
I donβt own many games that have third party launchers
Closest I have that I can think of is maybe Warframe
If I'm being honest, it's not at all affected me personally. I wait + 12 months for games anyway and very rarely buy games at launch.
Yeah Iβll wait for sure
I won't argue with personal preference, everyone has that. Just people getting up in arms about "exclusivity" doens't make much sense to me, cause it's still open and available to buy on the same platform lol
I just want to know if the game will run decent on my system
What's your build?
If it's somewhat similar to mine I can let you know, I'll probably be picking it up.
ok mines a bit beefier but if it runs badly on mine that'll be a good indication hah
what settings do you normally shoot for?
1080p
Yeah a few weeks
Not bad
I have a similar rig but my GPU is a 2070 and my CPU is a 9700k

Yeah I can imagine. Iβm sure more people would play if there were more crews like mine though.
What do people mainly talk about here? I donβt know what the colors in peopleβs names mean, I know mine is new.
You get these colors by talking here
We mainly talk about the nms update that is coming soon, Well lets say. My level needs like 17k exp. And you get only a bit exp per minute/message
The discord I use for my game has less colors then I see here, is there like a list of them?
I just didnβt want to go off topic is all

Yeah I know that this is like the second time Iβve been here and the first time someone has responded I think

Iβd use it more but a lot of people donβt tag. Or donβt know how to.
@winter yew is there anywhere you could tell me where I could find a really good s class fighter with more then 19 slots? Or at least how to find one.

Dragon Quest Builders 2 is a nice chill game
also you get a dog, so it's obviously good, still waiting on cats et. al

I just spent the last few hours trying to farm the Profit-Taker missions 3 and 4 in Warframe... I HAAAAAAAAATE dealing with mission 4. I know people brag about being able to solo that thing but I just can not grasp how in the hell they manage to do so without using some crazy OP methods.
are there any good free to play games that are free to download as well?
