#other-games

I've been going through tutorials on and off today (Dreams) and I won't be making any game anytime soon lol
Yeah it's a bit complicated I think
The games that people make are great though
Wish there was a more stable way to make 2d platformers though
It is crazy deep
The sound tutorial was eye opening for me - you could make any music track you wanted to - talent permitting
God I forgot how much I love Halo 4 multiplayer
i just kinda got lost in thought driving in ETS2 and since i have a wheel now i actually reached for my regular turn signal lever 😅
lmao. nice.
i was thinking of buying one of those mounting setups for it later on but now im thinking I'll just build my own out of wood
I found a Mario kart knock off
It's good so far
🤷
Better than nothing
Having lots of fun
In a few months tho Mario kart tour will be available for Android
So that's great
flying over home :3
I thought that was KSP for a second.
nope X-Plane 11
dudes i just landed at night drunk and parked 😄
That’s great!
i swear, EVE is one of the saddest games to work on
spend so much effort and money rewriting the renderer and art multiple times to make it look beautiful
everybody just zooms all the way out and ignores the graphics
i feel bad for CCP lmfao
90% of EVE is staring at chat and the overview lol
man WINE is awesome
out of the box, EVE and NMS working great w/ Vulkan
both native vulkan, and DX -> VK translation
Skyrim can never hold me
Don’t accidentally punch kitties in RDR2 or the town will murder you 😭
better them than me
lol
Stunning visuals
Nice
hi monitor
Still he at least doesn't have the flash reflect on his.monitor
Does it misbehave if trying to screenshot?
I just don’t know how to take a screen in game lol
Ahhh print screen. I’ll take another
Fo4 $45, it’s worth IMO
i just want my idris...
Yea. Don’t worry. You have time lol
With the story and stuff
@meager panther what are your current specs? they've done a lot of optimization over the last couple years
ah, yeah, that might be a bit too low; i got my current one in 2017, so it's got pretty decent specs
the 10-series nvidia cards were a huge boost to laptops, since the mobile cards actually have ±10% performance parity with their desktop counterparts (depending on thermal performance of the particular laptop)
Gyro what game is that?
Star Citizen
I hath started Dying Light
I'm bad at it so far, lol

Looks terrible
Lol
I do look forward to hearing what their plans are in the livestream.
If a stronghold is the only gameplay content they announce...then I don't know if there's much hope
Meh, I gave up on it within the week of release
Yeah
We shall see. They do sound adamant that they'll stick by it
Whoa we're purple bois
Lol
This article really didn't help their already rocky standing with the gaming community
https://kotaku.com/how-biowares-anthem-went-wrong-1833731964
any of you happen to play the old PS1 game Galaga: Destination Earth?
I wanted to
but never could track down a copy of it
this was a rare ps1 game i enjoyed though https://youtu.be/357QO1mba8k?
The controlling of this game is a bit bad, but the music is pretty good. このゲームを知っていますか?『超惑星戦記 メタファイト』の続編です。操作性が少し悪い、BGMが個人的に好みだった。 ※ロード画面はカット/早送...
oh fuck yeah
I picked that up on a whim and for the longest time could barely get anywhere because it turned out our tv was dying & made the dark areas too dark to even see to navigate
im on the ice zone lol.
Oh, haven't finished it yet?
did they imply that its going to come to 3ds?
Nah, they said when I asked they had no other plans for other platforms right now, but doesn't mean that couldn't change
and ive been taking my time with it, i have a huge bucket list and i get distracted
so thats why i havent finished it x)
Gotcha, it's gooood
yea 😄
One thing we can confirm is that as of now, we're targeting leading with Halo: Reach flighting on Xbox One. This is simply due to the fact that the console version is a bit further along than the PC version and will be ready to flight sooner. PC, as you can imagine, is a different beast, and we want to ensure that the first flight has adequate PC-specific UI in place, which takes time. We don't expect a particularly big gap in time but we are going to flight on Xbox One first (possibly even another flight on there too, depending on timing) before Halo: Reach PC flighting begins.
i cant wait dude
Finish the fight.
*the flight.
Good punt.
I'm so bad at Dying Light, lol
Once you get some upgrades it's a lot easier
bruh all i wanna do is play spiderman and watch game of thrones
and play csgo
all at the same time
I like eggs
I like trains
I like cats
Bruh why do big fuckin zombies with hammers exist
And why do regular zombies take 37 hits to the head to kill
Meh, not a fan of the game. I requested a refund cuz I've only played for an hour
What game
Oh
Eh, it's Dead Island with parkour and more damage-spongey zombies
MH World and Prey are on Game Pass so I'm downloading those rn
It’s probably like H2 Brutes on Legendary.
It's an RPG, you have stats that you need to upgrade to become stronger. You're weak as fuck at the beginning.
But yeah I get it, game isn't for everyone.
Brutes in general tend to be bullet-spongey.
I liked Dead Island but really didn't need a parkour version with annoyingly tough zombies in my life, lol. I was on normal difficulty and had fancy electrified and flaming weapons and still had to hit knocked over zombies 7+ times in the head to kill them
Yeah it be like that starting out.
I can one hit kill them now.
Insta head explode.
I'll probably have more fun with Prey and MH World, I've been eyeballing em for awhile
@stark palm it's actually really good. The movement and overall feel of the game is excellent, the story is a little cookie-cutter but is still interesting and promises more to come. It's absolutely gorgeous, even more so in 4k HDR. Difficulty balance and drop rates are less than stellar though in the end-game, and it lacks a truly engaging end-game in the form of Destiny-like raids, while lacking the procedurally generated variety and facerolling that lets Diablo 3's end-game repetition get a pass.
Anybody wanna play Space Engineers?
Real talk, if Microsoft doesn't just nut up and announce Fable 4 at E3 I'm gonna be pissed
They might as well, it's been leaked to high hell
Wow
Good games, but very shallow good/evil systems compared to Lionhead's heritage with Black & White
Wot
You could literally become evil enough to replace orphanages with brothels and grow demon wings and pay money to make bigger child factories
They were decent action RPGs. Stories weren't the greatest, but they have good gameplay overall. The good/evil systems were just massively disappointing. Rather ironic when you consider their previous two games before the Fable series, Black & White 1 and 2, were named Black & White and had an incredibly nuanced good/evil system, meanwhile Fable had a very black & white good/evil system lol.
I love Fable, been playing em since the first one released on the original Xbox
I own Fable Anniversary, Fable II, and Fable 3 with all its DLC's
Pretty sure I could walk someone through the first game blindfolded, lol
that's not saying much; the first was pretty easy and linear lol
Idk why they replaced the first game's Summoning spell in the sequels but they shouldn't have, I loved it
I wonder how bad this Slender game is
awful
Hell yeah, $1 awful games are great xD
Female robo Sub-Zero?
https://youtu.be/14vlJuCYFBA
Can you feel the chill in the air? Frost makes her long-awaited return to kombat in MK11.
w
i stopped paying attention to mortal kombat when they started charging $10/character
can go right to EA with that BS
@stark palm i can give you that much. MW2 was pretty great, though they got some things wrong. MW3 improved on some of those things, and got others wrong. That said, Steel Battalion is still the supreme mech game lol
never played steel batallion. i remember thinking of it as a battletech universe clone though
it was literally the only reason to buy an xbox lol
Hold on, i'll find you a vid of a crazy cockpit build someone did for it lol
i believe HALO was the game i bought XBOX for
yeah, if you bought an xbox for that i won't even get into all the problems with taht franchise and how MSFT ruined it lol
only played HALO and HALO 2
i'd had enough of it by then. it was fun, but i didn't feel like 3 would be anything different
yeah people have made setups like that for mechwarrior as well
you misunderstand, MSFT ruined it prior to the release of the first; they finally had a pretty good game by halo 3, but it still didn't hold a candle to what bungie had PLAYABLE at macworld prior to MSFT buying them
only with 3 monitors
here's the thing though: all those controls are the controls that COME WITH THE GAME
(though you can't see the pedals, with clutch)
nm, he does pan over the pedals later
it's a dual-stick setup (the right stick doesn't return to centre; this one controls the aimpoint of your guns) with all those buttons and switches on the base
that's not the supreme mech game, that's the supreme mech sim 😛
apologies, thank you for the correction :)
it is kind of shocking that not only is the best mech sim ever made a console-exclusive, but it was exclusive to xbrick, of all systems lol
btw, bane, if you didn't eject in time, it deleted your savegame lol
i still don't know who funded them enough to even make those setups, lol
like someone poured a stupid amount of money into it
i'm also kind of surprised no one's tried pushing a disastrous kickstarter for something similar on modern hardware, lmao
yeah. MSRP was 200, which is slightly under MSRP for a HOTAS + pedals setup of that quality, but that effectively means they were giving the game itself away. I have to assume that MSFT subsidized it heavily, which would also explain is xbox-exclusivity. after all, the game would have had a MUCH larger market on computer
they'd get my money... and probably run away to a tropical island... lol
Best Kickstarter ever is still the $10k potato salad lol
I'm more of an Armored Core kinda person myself, so while I'm impressed by the attention to detail of something like that, I know it just wouldn't probably be for me
basically like Star Citizen
I prefer sim over arcade in most cases. The AC franchise is fun, though.
I'm also older, though. In the early days there were a lot more Sims than arcade style games like that. Though some of those would pass for arcade today, compared to their modern sim counterparts.
misses Jane's Combat Simulations
sims often strike me as just detail for detail's sake, without much beyond getting a handle on all the details
but arcade games have their own issues of sometimes being overly simple loops with the hope that you'll enjoy repeating them over the duration of the game
that is a very fair and accurate assessment of what are referred to as "study sims." The whole point is to make it as true-to-life as is possible. If you learn it, you should be able to climb into the real thing with minimal adjustment (outside of the obvious physical aspects of doing the same things while pulling 5+ Gees, as opposed to sitting in your chair)
That is literally the appeal: to get the most realistic experience you can that you'd probably never get any other way.
Dies inside waiting for Halo Reach to hit the Master Chief Collection
yeah, but when it comes to more fantastical things like starships or mechs it starts to seem a little silly to me
to each their own tho
If these leaks are real I'm gonna fuckin die
https://screenrant.com/mortal-kombat-11-dlc-leak-joker-terminator-spawn/
Spawn 😍 😍 😍
not leaked: they've raised the price to expand the default roster of 3 characters to 20 dollars per character
@cinder vessel the difference between hard science fiction (Starship Troopers, The Forever War, Old Man's War, the Takeshi Kovacs trilogy, Snow Crash, Cryptonomicon, etc.) and science fantasy (Star Wars, Star Trek -- though this at least holds up the pretense of explaining things and tries to stay internally consistent, even if it's really just space magic --, Avatar).
there's something to be said for "if this were real, how would it work"
Man joker could have a nuts fatality
Joker fatalities could be fuckin brutal, remember Injustice?
Yup, played the first one a ton
Remember how he LIT YOUR FUCKIN CORPSE ON FIRE if he won???
Haha yeah
Bruh Joker fatalities got me weak 😩💦💦
Motherfuckin Spawn fatalities tho 😍
Ash fatalities gonna be funny af, lol
@chilly plover oh for sure, albeit my preference is to very clearly present that difference, which can be kinda hit or miss sometimes when you're looking through a number of games and sims are blended in with other, very much not sim-style games
Friendly reminder of one of the best-looking games ever canceled
https://youtu.be/jfHCZAK7p-s
The highly anticipated sequel from Bethesda and Human Head Studios, Prey 2, finds former U.S. Marshal turned bounty hunter Killian Samuels running down targe...
in terms of gameplay concepts or...? because as a cinematic trailer, one knows it would hardly match that sort of visual fidelity
that's not Star Wars Battlefront 3
Gameplay concepts and world
I'm still trying to figure out if a couple sections of Love Death + Robots were pure CGI or if they overlaid a live face over one of the characters as a subtle hint at the twist. Graphics are scary good these days, and if you don't need human faces, that even applies to realtime gameplay.
The one with the murder?
I think it was mixed with cgi and actual filmed live action scenes
The Witness
That one was beautiful
no, beyond the aquila rift; there's a few scenes where the blonde is right there on the line of pure CGI, live action overlaid, and live action with CGI touches.
To be fair, we hit the photo-real mark back in the early 2000s with Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within, but only in certain scenes with the right lighting. Love Death + Robots ranges widely in styles, as you've seen, and some do use overt live action, but it's also the kind of thing that would mix on multiple levels to achieve an aesthetic
Meh, wasn't a fan. ||The eternal murder thing|| was 😴
should put spoiler tags around that, for anyone that hasn't gotten to it yet
Ohhh yeah. I think that was completely cgi
The best-looking episode was Lucky 13
and the thing is, i can't tell if the parts that look really live action were deliberate, or the lighting and effects just lined up right to seem live. ||there seemed to be some correlation between levels of realism and his belief in the simulation||
I wouldn't doubt it. They all seem very experimental in different ways
Well Lucky 13 was also heavy on the very things that CGI is good at making look real. Lots of non-flesh textures, dark colours and shading, angular shapes and large curves.
this just reminds me i'm bummed i didn't take the time to watch genius party when it was available on netflix
i'm usually not too big on anthology series, but LD+R was damnably impressive, and they opened really strong with Sonnie's Edge.
I'm debating whether to watch Electric Sheep on amazon...
that was the vibe i've gotten from the previews it's inserted into other stuff i'm watching
still a decent watch if you got nothing else I think
in fairness, black mirror does have some really good ones, though as with any anthology series, it's hit-and-miss
just not particularly memorable
The only episodes of LD+R I thought were meh are The Witness and the one in the desert
rip
i liked both of those. the goofy android truck robbery, and the weird russian one were the only m'ehs for me
PLAY FOR FREE:Try the Super Free Edition and your progress will sync right into the full version when you upgrade.Free Edition players can't group up with friends using Steam friend's list, but they can play unlimited online multiplayer in any mode as much as they like!Fight ...
$10.39
736
Oh yeah, forgot about the truck robbery. Wasn't a fan of the blue episode
Russian one should be a live action movie
i did take issue with the whole racism thing they were trying to push with Shapeshifters. I'm sorry, but the advantages of literal werewolves in the infantry would be enormous and each and every damn one of those marines would have been glad as shit to have them around. Yeah, you've got disproportionately more bigots in the military than in the population as a whole, but when the shit hits the fan, we're (vets) a pretty pragmatic bunch
Zima Blue is definitely a more cerebral episode, but it's a good, thought-provoking piece about sentience and what actually matters and gives meaning in a life
I want the Russian one, Suits, and the first episode to be movies or series
Suits definitely could be turned into one I'd watch (for starters, WTF would you pick that planet to colonize anyway? The rest of the planet is clearly uninhabitable even if it weren't for the bugs). Sonnie's Edge (the first episode) is also a world i'd be interested to see more of. Lucky 13 could also be expanded into something like Space: Above and Beyond (it really reminded me a lot of that series).
Lucky 13 was great, idk how you'd make more of it tho
You wouldn't focus on that particular character, necessarily. You expand on the universe. Who are they fighting? Why? Not the most original, but it's been a while since we've had a good military sci-fi series (in fact, Space: Above and Beyond is literally the most recent I can think of; correction, since i doubled checked before sending this, Babylon 5 ran a little bit longer, ending in 1998, though it was focused on the military aspects and the character dramas that entails, whereas Space:A&B was)
Also, from a pure military tactics strategy standpoint, WTF are they sending what amount to high-end V-22 Ospreys into non-secured airspace without a CAP?! That drove me nuts in that episode. Their casualties were so damn high because they aren't properly securing the damn air before sending in ground troops.
(the problem with actually knowing these things is you can't not notice the holes like that lol)
about the same as B5 in that regard, i think. Like babylon 5, yes, it had military aspects to it (even central to it), but the focus was on the bigger picture. Contrast with Space: Above & Beyond, the bigger picture was something those grunts were too down in the weeds to see. It really was more of a military drama that just happened to have a sci-fi setting, as compared to a sci-fi drama with a military setting. Does that make sense?
(note that this is not a criticism of either; Babylon 5 is probably my favourite sci-fi series of all time, and the BSG reboot was absolutely amazing)
If the Enders Game movie hadn't been a crap version of the book it would have been great military sci-fi, smh
i dunno about that either, though i will say this: 1) the battle room was probably the biggest waste of NOT using 3D in the history of modern 3D technology, 2) the use of realistic CGI totally destroys ||the revelation that it's not a simulation, it's not a wargame, they really are commanding living human beings on the other side of the galaxy to commit suicide to achieve the mission objective||, 3) while I understand why they stripped out 100% of the brother and sister's political side-story, it really took out so much of significance in that universe
Yee
I wish we'd gotten a short series out of Edge of Tomorrow. Tho I think they're making a sequel
Yeah they are working on a pre-sequel for it
the main reason i draw a distinction is the focus on the people in the trenches vs focus on the politics at the top. BSG and B5 both focused more on the political, whereas Space: Above & Beyond focused on the grunts. Starship Troopers focused on the grunts. Nearly all of the great military fiction (sci-fi or otherwise) has focused on the guys in the trenches, or if it did follow the POGs (like i was, lol), they were still down in the working classes, for the most part.
It makes it a lot more personal, as you're exploring the shit that your average soldier deals with, as opposed to the big picture stuff at the top.
i mean thats ofc an opinion piece
i am also biased, as a veteran, to be fair. then again, i also liked B5 more than Space: Above and Beyond, so I don't think my bias is clouding my judgement of the quality of the work, just at how i draw the fine lines between subgenres (like the people that argue hardcore vs grindcore, or what have you lol)
to say that BSG only focused on the political leaders though is inaccurate
i wasn't implying that, just where the main focus felt like it was.
i would disagree
@austere lance tbh given the source material for Edge of Tomorrow, I don't think that would've worked terribly well
Tru
@cinder vessel they adjusted a lot, assuming the credibility of that "what's the difference" Youtube series
I just liked the universe, I'm a sucker for exosuits. I also liked how they deployed suited soldiers from dropships on cables, lol
As far as Manga adaptations, I'm mildly annoyed Netflix and Tsutomu Nihei crammed Blame into a movie instead of the series it needs. There's just too much packed into that universe to get into 2 hours. If I hadn't read most of the Manga I'd have been more lost than you're supposed to be in that world.
(related, I can't wait for the next season of Knights of Sydonia)
Netflix can't adapt manga or anime to save their lives, lol. They're doing decent with books/comic books tho, I loved Altered Carbon and Punisher
I can't imagine their game adaptations will be good, unless they magically pull off Witcher
Blame! did somewhat well despite, yeah, not really being suited to a movie
Like so far as the general looks & some of the tone go
Just, uh, go with that for a proper series, lol
@austere lance altered carbon is good if you ignore the source material. The overwhelming majority of changes weren't necessary for the adaptation and actively diminished the importance of a lot of the story aspects and motivations.
🐵
Haven't read it 🤷
(also we've noticed this is #other-games right)
Blame and Knights of Sydonia are as good as they are because Tsutomu Nihei has direct creative control.
bigg monkeywolf Aethena, lol
@austere lance read them. They're page turners. He has an incredibly energetic and addictive writing style and the books are far better.
@cinder vessel yeah good ol great ape from DBZ
i'm surprised no one's stolen that from DBZ, like just make werewolves but giant
just showing off Xenoverse 2's new photo mode haha
there's been an XV2 for a long time dude
now i'm trying to figure out if i'm thinking of something else 🤔
its not much more impressive mechanic-wise from XV1 but the modding scene is great from a fan perspective
FighterZ?
maybe i've been hearing about 2 without realizing it was even 2
XV1 went up to Battle of Gods with the purple cat guy
and XV2 has gone up to the most recent movie
@austere lance https://www.richardkmorgan.com/books/altered-carbon/an-extract-from-altered-carbon/ that's the prologue to altered carbon. You'll already note one very significant change vs the series, but just feel out the writing style. I've had maybe 2 people (out of dozens) read it and not go on to end up buying and reading the whole trilogy lol
man honestly i think i just totally missed that 2 even came out somehow
i wish more Japanese games would have photo modes 😩
from the one they put in this; you can kinda tell theyre inexperienced
i wish more games had nvidia ansel support, and it would default to a 360 3d format that google photos supported lol
for one the camera collides with scenery
(though one pic i took in Ark was hilarious; ansel photos taken from first person "work," but it only erases your own character, not your armour, so since the shot was taken from first person wearing a tek helmet, you could only see the portion visible in the visor; the rest of the shot was the inside of the helmet lol)
I kinda get a kick out of how Square very lightly implemented something like it for Dragon Quest XI...By which I mean they just gave you a first-person mode & ability to hide UI stuff
also oof at that Spork, lol
yeah, was pretty funny: https://photos.app.goo.gl/Nfyc3bEJ73iRmvew7
(obviously you'll need to load that in a 360 photo viewer that knows how to ignore the second eye portion)
uhhh, imagine you're aware but looks like that link relates to your personal account...
should just be the one photo visible; no?
yeah, it is, but also shows account name
wasn't sure if you were cool with that or not
yeah, i'm not worried about that; google spork witch, you can find me in seconds
i've been on the internet too long and due to my skillset and background i'm already on plenty of watch lists and databases, it's not worth the effort to hide my identity (hell, I don't even need to worry about doing those DNA tests that have been getting privacy criticism; they took blood specifically for DNA records when I enlisted lol)

hell, before Path of Exile came out and that community decided to name a particular build "spork witch," the top google results for "spork witch" were all me
lol
i was disproportionately annoyed by that, especially all the "oh, do you play POE" i got after; i've had this name for something like a decade before POE was even an idea in those devs heads (if they were even born yet...) lol
i'm super boring, i just went with a name i thought it'd be easy for my friends to remember & spell, lol
"vrtl"? lol
heh
you picked it cuz you wanted to save the president's daughter
just be honest with yourself
also to the earlier comment about this being othergames, not offtopic, there's a reason i don't break things down that granularly on my own servers. the more granular your channel breakdown, the more likely for offtopic discussion, and there's really not much need. keep the granular stuff to things that relate directly to the server's topic. On the ark server I run, we have a general (ark) chat, platform-specific channels for: trade, guild (tribe) recruiting, and server ads, and a dedicated screenshot/stream channel. Then we have a single offtopic. Couple other ark-related topical channels, though i may actually remove a couple of them, because they don't really get used for anything different from the general channel.
well this isn't your server and i feel like channels are easy and self explanatory
Even that feels like too much a lot of the time, but I can't find a way to trim it down more without generating spam
switching between them is also easy
@full pivot 1) that was a bit confrontational and unnecessarily so, 2) you're not wrong, but it's also a fact that redirecting conversations to another channel tends to kill those conversations, and the more granular the channel, the more likely offtopic discussion is to crop up (as we've seen here today, and i'm sure every day).
well it shouldn't kill those conversations because as i said switching channels is easy as clicking
(also in my defense, the mods commented on offtopic in #no-mans-sky earlier and said they wouldn't say to stop, but if topical discussion started up, to move it then)
okay well i started an on topic conversation about XV2 which is a game
@full pivot again, i agree, but 40 years of anecdotal evidence says it almost invariably does
well you're the boss i guess
@full pivot who didn't tho, really? 😏
(sorry, i can only really speak to about 30 years; though i suspect the previous 10 weren't really any different)
@cinder vessel fair enough xD
but really at first it was related to Kingdom Hearts weirdly renaming Squall from FFVIII
Fuck, that book excerpt was good!
don't get me started on kingdom hearts... absolutely butchered the final fantasy characters...
@austere lance told ya :)
nope, it's fine
you mean they didnt rename Squall... cloud
aayy
and now i'm trying to remember that terrible (and obvious) FF7 fanfic that Bearing was advertising for a while, sold on amazon lol
yknow i wasnt a fan of Squall or Cloud till he became Lightning then i was much more into the character
they literally ran a search-and-replace for names in the FF7 script and then put it on amazon lol
I honestly didn't even really know Squall as Squall, so had zero idea about mr. moodypants
controversial opinion: 8 was my favourite post-nintendo FF game. Yeah, the draw system kind of sucked, but it was pretty easy to work around it so it didn't matter. The character development, the deeper story concepts and issues. Absolutely incredible.
well i dont think Squall was based on Cloud but I do know that Lightning was
I just knew guy who knew his shit and tried to help because that's how he was introduced in Kingdom Hearts, lol
its just for those people who love a moody guy with a big sword but prefer brunettes over blondes 😛
p. much, lol
Squall was a much deeper character than Cloud lol. He has serious development over the course of the story, especially visible in the internal monologue the game gives you for him throughout.
You understand why he became the way he is, and he grows. What happened with Cloud? "I'm moody and have a big sword... i'm doing this... because... ummm... because."
really tho i do still need to make my way through the FF series
same leon
way too many starts without following through
seeing as i just wasted 2 days taking screenshots in Xenoverse 2 i wouldn't bet on my ability to finish any JRPGs
they're all largely stand-alone, with the exception of the explicit sequels (which usually aren't as good; X-2 and XIII-2 were okay, but that's about it; we won't even mention lightning returns...)
weren't you making your way through Octopath there for a bit?
They do have some throw-backs from time to time, though (e.g. 12 going back to ivalice, which as i understand was from an earlier game)
I'm a noob and haven't played through a FF game, lol. I played a couple hours of random ones between I and VI 😄
i wish X-2 was an explicit sequel
Lightning Returns sounded great from what i read of it, lol
yeah i was making good progress in Octopath too
Best Squaresoft RPG: Xenogears, even with the rushed and incomplete second disk. Probably my favourite console RPG ever.
but i changed worksites and lost a lot of downtime to plug away at it
aah
it's really kinda crazy to think of just how many RPG series Square has to work with
story focus as opposed to story being the excuse for the action
well they could trim a bit, but people get upset when they try to do too much differently
game was weird, the anime was not
is that backwards compatible with Xbox One...? 🤔
I keep forgetting there was an anime. And yes Leon
Sound have you tried the YapYap playlist for Halo 2 ?
ooh, same with Lost Odyssey?
Yes @cinder vessel
nice
I have them both, lol
Lost Odyssey was free for some reason and Blue Dragon was in Games with Gold a year ago
giving me more of an incentive to pick up an Xbox One, just to play catch up on 360 games, lol
i think there may still be some One exclusives i might be interested in
Haven't beaten either of em, Lost Odyssey was weird tho. Kinda liked it. Blue Dragon had waaaaaaay too many enemies when you tried to explore, couldn't go three steps without finding a monster
tbh tho it would kind of just be for more up to date hardware and avoiding red ring risk
Lost Odyssey's weird way of telling stories through the memories you unlocked was beautiful, some of the memories were big sad 😢
a One S would probably be fine for mostly backcompat & a few exclusives
The game also liked to beat your ass to a pulp if you were even a level below a boss, lol
I just got a 1 TB One S for $201, Amazon has em on sale
i still need to look through a list to figure out what's really exclusive tho
Off the top of my head I can think of the Gears of War games, Halo MCC, and the Fable trilogy. And Forza.
Sea of thieves
I'm downloading it on gamepass now, been meaning to try it
Wait til the phat update at the end of this month
Okay, well that give me some time to plug away at MCC
I finally actually bought a halo game, not have to go to a friends to play lol
Ive beaten them all multiple times, except 5 (havent played it)
Its all been coop but have done legendary and attempted LASO once
Sweet lord, I thought you were gonna say you hadn't played through any
LASO is asso, lol
Fuck that noise
I just never owned an xbox til about 4 months ago
The combination of Iron and Blind are a fuckin no from me
Me and 3 buddies were like fuck it lets do it and we gave up half way through first mission of halo 3
I’m a collectible completionist when it comes to terminals/audio logs.
I probably will never ever do LASO.
Yeah terminals are cool
@agile tinsel 5 is trash, there's an entire half of matchmaking dedicated to a big-ass mode dominated by lootboxes
You can only get armor, weapon skins, and assassinations through lootboxes
And the campaign is heinous
Ive watched the movie of the whole campaign
I wasnt a super fan of 4s campaign either
Adding ground-pound to Halo
So, CE: got all the terminals, 2: need more, 3: all besides 032’s last message, ODST: all, 4: working on it, 5: will work on it when I’m done with every collectible MCC achievement.
ODST had terminals? Thought it just had voice logs
I’m counting them as terminals, as they add some hidden lore (Sadie Endesha, multiple people for 5).
I had to learn how to crouch-jump when I got the Library’s terminal.
Bruh you gotta learn to grenade jump in CE if you want skulls, lol
Also: Locke used Ground Pound! It’s not very effective....
Fucking ground pound and shoulder charge are the dumbest things I've ever seen in Halo
I take it back, ADS on plasma pistols is
so i thought Halo 1 was okay; it was fun
you realize if the rest don' blow my mind i know who to blame now >:)
I always miss the battle rifle whenever i'm doing the halo ce campaign
nice
they actually may be in some trouble in the US, as Tim Pool has had the Subverse trademark for several years, and that game is really hurting him growing his brand (he goes to try to get interviews, they google "subverse" and find a porn game instead of his news brand)
Based on my understanding of the timelines and interest layman's understanding of the relevant law, I suspect they'll at least be forced to change the name for a US release, potentially with damages paid given their responses to his polite attempts to work with them.
Ehhh I do not feel anything about this
I just can't understand how it raised a million bucks

do you remember the US$10k bowl of potato salad? lol
As to feelings, there's a way to handle such disputes. The response of this so-called dev was less than professional, to put it mildly. Especially this early in their project, when up against an established brand, is just silly and petty. The specific conduct actually lends some credibility to the possibility that it's actually deliberate to try to take advantage of Tim's growing popularity and promotion of his brand specifically to get searches for his brand to direct people to them instead. If that turns out to be provable, that's actually really bad news for them, as when it comes to copyright/patent/trademark infringement, willful infringement actually incurs significantly higher penalties. They literally responded to his politely bringing up the issue with "good luck, we're in the UK"; it's kind of damning, heh.
Don't get me wrong, there's a lot of issues with copyright and patent law, but trademark is usually less issue-prone, and this doesn't seem like a controversial case. It does, in fact, seem like a prime candidate for a textbook example of the very purpose of trademark in the first place.
Regardless of anything else, a legal dispute like this during the kickstarter campaign doesn't bode well. Remember the drama that ensued when Wildcard had to release a paid DLC to help cover development AND legal costs early in Ark's development, because of Trendy playing dirty (just spent the last 10 minutes doing my research to make sure i understood things right, but it seems to boil down to Trendy being upset about a NON-competing and very different product, that they thought they could make a grab on).
lame
I don't mind the trademark or name issues
I just don't get how a porn game got so much funding
... porn literally decided the winners of both beta vs vhs and hd-dvd vs blu-ray...
because people are simple
sex sells; it's probably the single most thoroughly proven thing in marketing. LITERAL sex? yeah, it's gonna make money lol
I was gonna say I think ps3 having a built in bluray player was probably the decider vs hd-dvd, got way more blurays in homes
Yeah blurays could hold more and have better piracy protection
it definitely helped, but recall that, at least initially, same-month sales were better on the 360 (even though it fell significantly behind by all other metrics) and it had an HD-DVD option. Yes, not having a choice to pay extra played a factor, but the big one that clinched it was porn in both cases. It's a surprisingly huge market, even in the internet age of the early 2000s.
The 360 hd-dvd was a separate add-on, it wasnt pre-installed
360 only had a dvd player on it
piracy protection wasn't really a factor; that's just down to licensing. The big difference with hd-dvd vs blu-ray compared to beta vs vhs is that, at the end of the day, there were no differences in quality and features that weren't 100% software. at the end of the day, on the merits of the media itself, it all came down to capacity, physical durability, and unit cost. blu-ray won on those metrics, and thankfully it also won that format war, so we weren't stuck with an inferior tech for no good reason.
beta had objective quality and durability benefits over vhs, but also had non-trivially higher unit costs. combine that with porn backing VHS, the only ones that kept beta around at all were news companies, really.
Remember we're talking about digital media, ones and zeroes; piracy protection, video and audio CODECs, etc., it's all just data; the medium isn't relevant, only the licensing to use them, and well before blu-ray vs hd-dvd was over, they were using the same quality CODECs.
Movie studios are pretty big on piracy protection and one offered significantly more than the other
that can matter long-term, but the initial barrier of writable media and the hardware to write to it is surprisingly effective. In the end these companies aren't stupid, they depend primarily on litigation, not actually effective DRM, to fight piracy.
(that's why they've fought so hard against all fair use exceptions to the DMCA so that you can't even exercise your rights to make archival backups; it requires circumventing the DRM, which there is no DMCA exception for)
Blockbuster quit hd-dvd because they found that 75% of the new format rentals were blurays, and thats a fair bit in part that Sony snuck a cheapish bluray player into their new system, at decent cost to themselves
Hd-dvd also didnt region lock at all whereas bluray did, which distributors liked
less than the price breakdowns make it out to be; remember that they were a development partner on the standard, and those price breakdowns were looking at market cost, not what partners paid
@agile tinsel i suspect the reasoning for not rolling it out with it initially was to promote adoption by consumers (one of the final deciders; unless there's nothing to buy on it -- not the case, as for a while the hd-dvd offerings were superior to blu-ray -- they're the ones that determine which product will win). Again, since it's digital media, and all the players supported internet updates and DRM already, it would have been relatively trivial to add it after, and the sources i'm finding indicate they said as much, it just lost the war before it was ever implemented.
re: blu-ray, as with games themselves, region-locking is up to the publisher. In the case of the PS3, no games are region-locked (which was nice for me, since they didn't release the CE of FFXIII in the US, so I was able to wire a mate some money to buy and ship me a UK copy). Some movies are, though it varied widely. I have quite a few german blu-rays that are not region locked, or are locked to a set of regions that includes NA (china is the only really commonly locked out one, and vice versa, due largely to china's insanely strict censorship policies).
DVD was much more heavily region-locked than blu-ray WRT movies/tv (likely a result of the growth and increasing speeds of internet access; as itunes, amazon music, etc. demonstrated so clearly in the dollar values that are the only things companies understand, if you make the price reasonable and access convenient, people will pay, and if you don't, they'll just pirate it anyway; it makes sense to be looser on region locking where local laws allow you to be because 1) fewer different SKUs reduces costs, 2) the ability to import and play easily and legally reduces the likelihood of piracy)
i really liked LittleBigPlanet
actually i still do; PS3 had better games from where i was standing
PS3 did have really great games
this generation has been lackluster, though honestly i'm beginning to think you're more troll than anything. nearly every post i've seen you make has seemed designed solely to put a stop to other discussions, regardless of the channel
Interactive theme from the first level in LittleBigPlanet, composed by Mat Clark and Kenneth Young. The track is 2.21 in length so will 'loop' into the full ...
how can you not feel good listening to this
yeah im the biggest troll on this server
i appreciate it
at minimum it's pretty clear attention-seeking behaviour at this point
im talking about games in a games channel 😐
I freaking love Little Big Planet.
pats you on the head w/e you say, self-admitted troll
I hope they make a new one after Dreams.
@chilly plover Quit being a dick
^
Ive never actually finished LBP
i think the music in LBP was a huge part of what captured me, as well as the style
something about the crafted looking environments made of felt and wood and stuff
look over the other channels and tell me my assessment is wrong; i've done nothing to this person, yet it seems to be a recurring thing, regardless of channel
I screwed around with the level builder a lot
oh yeah i played that karting game
i didn't know there was a kart game haha
It is fun tbh, I dunno why I put shitty.
Maybe it's cause my children beat me.
They are better at it than I am.
Yeah you could build your own tracks
What kart game
I always tried to recreate real life tracks with like crazy elevations and stuff
Little Big Planet
Oh
the only driving thing I played in Dreams so far was not fun haha
there was like no traction
environments still looked pretty tho
I'm still waiting on my signed painting 😛
i'll need a bit more skill with a DS4 if its gonna look anything like my signature 😭
last thing i was working on was a canyon hideaway thing in a desert
I can wait. I'm a patient fellow
yeah i didn't make a ton of progress this weekend cuz i got all caught up in Xenoverse 2 screesnhots 😅
Mhmm. I noticed lol
pew pew pew
Wait wtf
I am still yet to play, I'm not even sure why I skipped over it.
Photo mode in games is the best thing to happen since photo mode in games.
i mean it lets me show off all my mods too xD
I love photo mode in games but it also makes it me finish a game in about 3 times longer as i would have normally
yeah its not helping me finish games either because all the stuff ive been playing lately is endless
yeah for spiderman i ended up with around 500 shots after i finished the campaign and dlc missions once
its been super fun tho so i can't complain
I'm playing Spiderman rn, working on finishing all the side quest stuff
Maybe going for plat trophie
That platinum is pretty easy tbh
Yeah if you complete the game once you probably will get it
Some lego games id say were harder
Yeah I can imagine
Playing elite
I've done around 80 hours played and only yesterday found out I can FSD even when I'm not locked onto a location.
Friendship drive engaged
I keep hearing a warning that I don't know wtf it means though.
?
"Friendship drive operating beyond safety limits"
Just the AI voice, no warnings or anything showing red.
Did you engineer on it?
Nope
Hmm, dunno
Yeah it's gotten me all confused haha
You aren't around a neutron Star, or white dwarf are you?
I did not know that either.
Hahaha
"You might die"
I only have the 5 minute health thing too, I didn't see much point in improving them.
My thought exactly.
White dwarfs will supercharge to about 50% increased FSD, neutron stars can do 300% increase
Zooooom
Spansh is a godsend while out in the black.
Oh nice!
I haven't played in quite some time now - was working on the triple Elite ratings
Just competent in combat - elite in trading and exploring though
I restarted from new, focusing on a mixture of missions and exploration this time round.
Before I tried to get Sol permit and never did unlock it.
It is handy
I read I needed to be a certain rank for Federation, I was above the required rank and still didn't get the secondary mission to unlock.
Wait, I'm thinking founders world
That's the one with the station that sells every ship and module, at a 10% discount
Oh nice, I'll check that out.
Just need an elite rating in one thing to get the permit
@austere lance tbh i don't mind Sea of Thieves from the little I tried of it, but it really just didn't feel solo friendly with the ship handling, even on the smaller vessel
plus I'm sure it's always online or whatever because hey you really wanna play with others that much right, right? 🙄
😦
🤷
I see a game called Blackwake that is supposedly similar to SoT but it's dead.
Foreshadowing for SoT then
eh they got Microsoft money so they'll be fine
I assume Ubisoft's Skull and Bones will be similar to SoT.
nah
No?
Different vibes
it looks like more mature, heavily naval combat oriented yeah
Not if it is good
I genuinely thought it was a SoT type of game.
nah, seems much less aimless
to a degree
doesn't seem like my sorta game tho tbh
As I recall they emphasized more of a PvP sort of component to it
which basically means a few people may play it and only it and stomp everyone else, if it's like so many other PvP games
That's a valid point
but hey, Ubi has found a market of sorts for those lately, what with For Honor & Rainbow Six Siege
I got For Honor for free but never got around to playing.
Missing out imo
I hate the formula they have in their games
The progression system is literally no different in any of their games
For Honor was okay but i got bored of it pretty fast
The progression system in watchdogs and tomb raider is the same?
And assassins creed?
like in the open test phase fast
Yeah, but you are an outlier
Ubisoft doesn't handle Tomb Raider btw
I haven't played tomb raider yet
Oh yeah, that's square
But assassin's creed ,far cry etc are more or less same progression system
Division 2, and assassins creed couldn't be more different
Far cry does not have the same system as assassins creed, what are you talking about
I am very much looking forward to playing Division 2.
I also just didn't get invested in For Honor because of microtransactions littering the thing, felt like you might need to pay more to get the most out of it
I meant the upgrade system
Nope
That's every game ever man
EVERY GAME DOES THAT
But its not so noticeable
not every game is a RPG or RPG-lite, lmao
I didn't notice it in mass effect for example
I think you have jumped on the hate Ubisoft bandwagon, without looking at their products closely
Top 5 dev, hands down
That reminds me, I need to buy AC: Origin today.
although these days all the big budget games are more prone to being RPG-lite
oh also, "every [y] does [z]" is a silly argument, but now i gotta be off
Pfff
Pac-Man, grind pellets
Mario, grind stars
Kingdom Come, grind whatever
Every game ever is repeated actions
every video game is a point a click adventure
Yep
change my mind
No
Halo has shooting and punching.
do you mean
I see the point of your “repeated actions” argument.
slow clap
It becomes obvious when you cant do a mission because its level locked and you need to grind to reach certain levels before proceeding
All I'm saying is, you can break down any game unfavorably
Ace combat was good
Indeed you can.
7 i mean
you grind by shooting different planes using different planes
But most times you progress enough via the missions itself
But if you want to purchase the top end planes- you will be replaying
Well obviously
But i wont get locked out of missions
For not having a certain plane
But in new dawn for example..you cant get the oil cans to level up prosperity without grinding
For that you gotta grind to take over the outposts thrice
Got stuck doing same thing in Odyssey
If you know about a game called avatar?
Also by ubi
You get stuck doing the grind to progress
That was like 8 years ago
Yes
I'm trying to think of a game that has open world components where you can immediately access everything
Can't come up with one
Psst Forza horizon
No you can't access everything from the get go
Gotta grind for those cars mate
And you unlock more races as you do races
I mean you obviously need to win some races but doesn't stop you tho
You can't jump in a supercar race from the get go.
Barn finds are a grind.
Smashing xp boards is definitely a grind - what are there 100s?
Still a grind. 🤷
Thats the thing tho.i didn't have to do it specifically.i just spot those boards when discovering the map and i just turn a bit to smash and go back to unlocking the map
I'm grindy
😏
😋

@idle saffron Define "everything", cuz in Elder Scrolls games you can access the entire map from the start
Sure, and die immediately from being underleveled
Got to grind to level up
Woot
And everything would include more than the map silly bean
Weapons, spells what have you
Removing that difficulty spike in different locations would make exploration less appealing
And less challenging
I'm not complaining mind you, just saying that games having you do some stuff, before you can do other stuff is normal
You didn't die from being under-leveled in Oblivion and Skyrim, that was kinda the point of the map being open from the start. I could wander to Riften or Winterhold right off the bat if I wanted to
Yeah I can't think of any full access open world games atm
Oh wait, gotta do other stuff first
I'm sure there are some, but leveling, or grinding, or progressing or w/e you want to call it is pretty standard
Alright bois, just started Prey
leveling is bad, fite me
Nice, I love the voice actor for his uncle
Prey is pretty great
It's fun af, I keep getting spooked by inanimate objects and slapping em with my wrench xD
That happens to me.
Fuck, I have blueprints for pistol and GLOO Gun ammo but not for my shotgun
so, uh, looks like Anthem updated before the month was completely out:
https://old.reddit.com/r/AnthemTheGame/comments/bghvqb/patch_110_april_23_2019/
@cinder vessel they've been pretty good about releasing them early if they're ready
haven't been following closely tbh, just know it seemed some were getting anxious about this month's update
I can't wait to play Anthem tbh
can't believe some of the folks there saying stuff like this:
Added the ability to access the Forge during Missions, Strongholds and Freeplay. You can now change your gear without having to return to Fort Tarsis or the Launch Bay!
is a tiny fix
In the big picture of things, sure, i guess, but it's still a highly requested change and I'd think allows for more flexibility in the field, but maybe i'm wrong
That's pretty friggin big, that's like half the reason people don't like the game
apparently whatever remaining community is there is so thoroughly fed up that it's not enough tho, which honestly...can't really blame them?
The Forge was trash, I'm glad they fixed it
Honestly it was a large amount of why I didn't play for more than 4 hours
There seem to be a bunch of QOL changes to reduce the frequency of load screen encounters, I think, but still doesn't exactly resolve their presence in all sorts of odd spots
I get the sense that that would require a major rework to change tho
Or the <50 weapons and no lootable armor in a looter shooter, lol
Hmu when they have over 100 useful ones, cuz rn I don't think they have 50 at all and only like 20 are useful
quality > quantity imo, but from what i gather they don't even have that really, lol
Oh hell no, the guns are ass 😄
i never give af about loot in looters because it may as well be like experience points where you're just going for whatever's optimal more likely than not, so everything lower tier is probably worthless trash 🤷
which, incidentally, is why i typically don't bother with looters to begin with
-Boring AR
-Burst AR
-Shotgun
-Charged shotgun
-Pistol
-Machine Pistol
-Sniper
-Explosive Sniper
-DMR
That's about it, lol. I guess Colossus has rockets and a grenade launcher and flamethrower
Obviously there's tiers for each weapon (common, uncommon, rare, etc) but that's basically all the weapons in the game, which is a sin in a looter shooter
oh shit, this just made why i like mech games click a little more
you play anthem for the gunplay?
Anthem needs swords
I don't play it in general, lol
I mean I don't either
just that I don't think Bioware's known for their good schut
melee weapons would be nice for a 3rd person game
I played for 4 hours and experienced everything there is to do, fuck paying $60 for that
mech games have some of the same weaponry, but bigg, but they also have fuckin' missile launchers, rocketfists, laser swords, beam guns, etc.
and they typically feel great to use
laughs in EDF
meanwhile other shooters are just squishy people with tiny pewpew guns
they have both good and trash guns there is no flaw
Guns feel awful in Anthem
We give Destiny shit a lot but at least it has tons of fun guns and lots of loot to chase, which is 80% of the reason people play looters
you know what game has good gun feels?
unless i can see some form of visible response to the gunfire hitting the enemy i'm kinda just zzz
payday 2
I put too much time into Payday 2.
I only got ~550
you haven't put too much time in until somehow you're making money from it 👀
Destiny kinda made your character revolve around the guns tho, so Bungie had to make em feel and look good
but when you make money from it you're never putting too much time
cos you'd be getting paid and time spent getting paid isn't time wasted
destiny started from the guns and worked back to the bodies, anthem started from the bodies and wait how do guns work
u cyan
Whoa
blue boi
PD2 started with good guns and then memes happened
tbh tho I like some of the meme guns still
not the airbow tho fuck that garbage
tbh i sorta feel like anthem would work better if it took a note from Guild Wars 2 but went nuts & just made it so the loot augmented the javelins to give them a variety of different abilities
I wanted to like Payday 2 but it just felt like an elaborate Left 4 Dead 2 mod to me, lol
because fuck guns anyway, cool af abilities > pewpew guns
y'know tho, the saddest part of Guild Wars 2 was that it basically shrunk the pool of cool abilities to toy with from the first due to relating some to your equipped weapons
@cinder vessel Yeah, you can only equip 3 abilities at once in Anthem
Because that's the obvious solution to having shitty guns, lol
see the obvious solution would have been to say fuck the guns and go all in on abilities, but that would have taken more time to design, animate, record/produce sound effects for, so on & so forth all of which they just didn't have as we know, lol
PD2's build making is deep as fuck
you kinda need to like making different builds to enjoy it
it's kind of hilarious to me how Risk of Rain is basically a case of:
2D: we sleeps
3D: WE HYPE NOW
lol I played the og one and I liked it
Why does Risk of Rain 2 have the Slime Rancher art-style, lol
It's the sequel, it's 3D
I play the og now
And 2 too
Im in hard
They are surprisingly fun
Both games
If anyone wants to play ror2 let me know lol
really dig that art style
Checks to see if it's made by the Slime Rancher devs cuz of how similar it looks
imo it's way smarter to make multiplayer games less graphically demanding, albeit i dunno if that's the case with how Risk of Rain 2's doing its visuals
I wish Slime Rancher had a sequel 😢
It was fun but could definitely use some expanding
Eh, played a couple months ago and not much had changed
I'd love to get a bigger sequel
I wasn't expecting to like that game as much as I did, ngl
It's so cute, I love it
But with most of those sorts of games, there's a point where everything is done
Or things become monotonous so you get bored
TIL there was a gameplay demo for Prey 2
A mash of Prey 2's E3 Demo originally posted by Gamespot as 2 videos. They cut out the rocket boot moment, so there's a quick transition covering that transi...
why do you keep teasing yourself?
Because 😭
Embark upon a story-driven adventure into long-lost legends and mysteries. Wield wondrous artefacts, pit your wits against puzzles and face down truly fearso...
call me when i can play solo more comfortably
Never, unfortunately. It's always gonna be online
Yeah it definitely seems set up to always be part of a crew
ded
I remember Bee doing a running commentary of running solo onto a ship to take it over.
He waited for almost an hour and they immediately killed him when he tried to kill them.
ded, don't engage dis
?
For SoT
oh right
The Anniversary Update will basically completely change the entire game
except the most important parts
It's weird of them to change it all at once and not a bit at a time like most games
Oh they're changing damn near everything. Ship combat, an actual story to follow, new voyages, an entire pvp mode, cooking, chests you can open, fishing, harpoons, and apparently hunting
i think you know what i'm getting at tho 😛
Yeah, lol. I don't mind the online too much, especially since the pvp mode will mostly remove the annoying trolls from the regular game
wow, cheap
Right?
oh fuck, finally
i've been needing this for my collection, thx
this is pretty useful btw:
https://gematsu.com/exclusives/xbox-one
boooo Otogi's not backwards compatible on Xbox One
@echo hill It will at the end of the month. They're adding a whole damn story to it called Tall Tales. It'll still be on the main game so there'll probably be 5000 assholes all doing it but oh well 😄
holy shit dude thats so hype wtf
ive always wanted some sort of story from SoT
im going to be so immersed!!
Did you watch the trailer?
Hopefully all the annoying little shits will be too busy in The Arena to bother people doing the story
🤦 tfw the games you like on consoles are too niche to be backwards compatible
It's super weird tho, as some aren't what I'd necessarily consider niche but also aren't there, like MechAssault 1 & 2
Psychonauts is too
And even on the 360, MechAssault 1 wasn't supported which ???
Yo I'd cry if MechAssault 2 was bc
MechAssault devs are too busy being shits with Mechwarrior Online
I tried that briefly, too slow-paced for my tastes
I like my mechs with jet dashing, Armored Core spoiled me
Also it doesn't surprise me at all but I'm mildly bummed Dino Crisis 3 isn't backwards compatible on either the 360 or One
Also I generally just want Dino Crisis to come back because survival horror dinos still seems like a fantastic idea to me
Gib a new Turok
no joke, each time i tried to remember dino crisis all that kept coming to mind was turok
Also, Microsoft doesn't always have a choice on what games they can make bc. They can't make any Oddworld games bc cuz Lorne Lanning fuckin hates Microsoft and wants nothing to do with em
i mean, by all accounts munch's oddysee development was hell in part thanks to them, i think?
which is why they partnered with EA basically right afterward, which...weird times
Yep. And Microsoft wouldn't let them put the HD ports of Munch and Stranger's Wrath on 360 because the head of Xbox back then was a douche
oof
Head of Xbox now is awesome but Lorne still hates Microsoft, smh
Tho it's weird New N Tasty is on Xbone. I think it's because it's a remake that Oddworld Inhabitants (mainly Lorne) didn't have to much to do with
speaking of microsoft mishaps, supposedly part of the reason they struggle in Japan is because when the original Xbox release didn't go well, they laid off a bunch of the staff there, and that's supposedly a big nooope thing to do there
And I think Soulstorm is gonna be on Xbox too
whenever it releases 👀
Yeah, Blue Dragon was supposed to hook the Japanese market but kinda failed miserably
This is all we have for Soulstorm
https://youtu.be/9nHf_ejvqA0
http://www.oddworld.com A glimpse of a cinematic showing off the rendering techniques we are using in Oddworld: Soulstorm.
but yeah, i have such an odd mix of Xbox games that basically only a few have backwards compatibility on Xbox One, like Ninja Gaiden Black, Panzer Dragoon Orta, Blinx, Grabbed By The Ghoulies.
Not a few of the others I'd like to see tho, like Phantom Crash, Phantom Dust, Otogi 1 & 2. What's wild is Otogi 1 & 2 aren't even backwards compatible on 360
Oh weird, this list missed that
Yeah it's free on Xbone
And now that you mention it I'm pretty sure I knew & forgot
Oh wait a sec, is it that it's backwards compatible, or that they just up & rereleased it?
'cause if memory serves it was kind of just out of nowhere
It's a remaster
Thaat's it
It's free on Xbone, I tried it and was basically just
the whole time 😄
after they teased a spiritual successor or sequel that never came to pass 😐
Oh yeah, it's on Win 10 too
So if you don't have an Xbox but can stand using Win 10 you can download it, lol
that gematsu list made me go very
concerning the exclusives, and checking the backwards compatibility was another
, lol
there really are very few 360 titles i've really wanted, so the backwards compatibility having more of those, while making sense, also does basically zero for me, lol
Your list is also wrong, pretty sure Elite Dangerous is on PS4 😄
i mean isn't it basically alright, just not a major shakeup or improvement?
It's 😴
And sometimes it's just complete bs and kills off your important survivors with bad AI and glitches
so not much has changed from 1, got it, lol
I played like an hour of the first one a probably 8 hours of the second, they made the gameplay a bit more user-friendly but good lord they added a helluva resource grind
That and it's sooooooo fuckin repetitive
i'm definitely bummed that 2 didn't take the good ideas and build them out/toy with them more
which basically means one will have to wait until some other indie studio spins off a game with similar ideas and does them even better, lol
I like how Arkane basically has the same concepts in any game they make, lol
Been playing Prey and I'm basically just playing it like Dishonored 😄
haha
I like Prey because I can sneak through tiny holes as a coffee cup :p
!!! Finally he fuckin announces a release date. https://blog.us.playstation.com/2019/04/23/shakedown-hawaii-hits-ps4-ps-vita-may-7/
why are they shaking down Hawaii
