I'm not trying for toxcity Zoid, it isn't even about Sekiro specifically - its a problem with thought processes to me
The way people like yell at developers to WORK HARDER I WANT MY TOY
I'm not blaming the medium for the shitty things the humans say on it
Yeah gleam I wasn't saying this was necessarily toxicity, just that I'm always sorta on edge to convos about games now
But this didn't happen when the medium didn't exist
Like twitter and reddit ciclejerks
It did though lol, devs just got letters
Ya everything was just analog
Well at least it's not 10000 letters circlejerk
And definitely maybe 100 people would have wrote letters lol
That's because game studios weren't as large before social media
Well at least social media gave you an awesome nms community
Harder to find them also
These are both things that have evolved around the same rste
Honestly I wasn't really around for that
๐คท
I was playing the game then I wasnt
When you are issuing death threats because of a video game, you are seriously unhinged
Was it bad here?
That sucks
Reddit especially
It's still bad on Reddit, just not in the nms focused communities
Well I don't care about Reddit communities
I don't really either
I don't enjoy reading Reddit comments
I avoid reddit now, too many nasty comment for 0 reason
I avoid the comments because I'm tired of seeing upvoted comments that just chain together
It's not a conversation
It's like
It's just feeding the echo chamber
one guy making bad jokes that are vaguely related
I'm sure it isnt all that way, but when someone posts a pic of their cat, and the first comment is I hope it dies - I'm not into it
Hell, even YouTube comments can be more interesting
Lol
At least you get some wild card heated arguments
I'm subbed to r/games for news but I generally avoid comments.
I think I have never read ytube comments
They're either not interesting or completely toxic.
I check the feed here, since it's just the initial post
Same
There might be a better Reddit for gaming news, zoid
I don't remember what the ones I have are called
Maybe, just never really cared enough to look
But isn't games just memes?
That's gaming
Ohhhh ya
Games is better in terms of content
Nevermind.
Gaming,PC gaming, games are all just memes mostly and circlejerk
Not in terms of users to some degree though, there are still the typical shitty gamer opinions
PC gaming is horrible
Still tho Reddit, thanks for the TIL and AMA
Games isn't mostly memes
that shit is great
There are def good subs, just not many gaming ones I enjoy
One of my favorite reddits is AMAdisasters
||zoid do a AMA about Pp||
Low sodium ?
Have you been playing anthem zoid??
Oh, salt
I haven't played anthem ๐ฐ
It's fun
They talk about the game instead of how the devs are garbage
Didn't hook me for the long haul, but I enjoyed it
The marvel game could be nice
Ehhh looks a bit shite to me but i played The Surge for 5 hours today so I can't say shiiit.
My issue is my internet made it very laggy and inconsistent after a little bit.
I hope so
Also 20 days for endgame .so hype
It is fun being able to zip around - it does make you feel like a badass wiping out mobs
Dude I was playing it today like this is the exact type of game where you ache for a sequel
So many great, original ideas
Yeah I felt like it ended a bit quick too so I really wanted more
When does 2 come out, is there a release date?
But the execution is a bit... all over the place
Odyssey got repetitive quick lol
I think k it's just 2019
Okay thought so
In terms of the execution, the only thing that really got to me was the lack of more interesting dodges. Like you could sorta just dash away and be fine. You weren't necessarily forced to use the jump or duck dodge often at all
It was fun for 8 hours, then it was a chore
I liked it ok, but they have gotten far away from being assasins
Yep
But I think the combat could've been even more interesting if they designed it more heavily around those dodge mechanics
The only assassin thing it allowed was the silent melee kill
That too only if you levelled up to match the enemy level and like behind the enemy
Zero stealth missions
Or no consequences for breaking stealth and open firing
Yeah, bleh - I'm an assassin - I should be able to stealth kill anything. -you used to be able to
My biggest problem with the surge is the bosses and level design
Bosses are hit and miss
That was a lot of the fun for me - figuring out how to get close to the target, and only take them out
Now, it's an action movie
But the levels are so boring to look at
Sucks because there's actually some great design in the way they are organized
Yeah there was a one mission that said to steal something without anyone noticing, but one of the objective was to kill the lead guard..like how does that even work
but you just barely notice cause everything looks the same
Was the surge the one where you got the crazy weapons, that switched your stance?
I just killed the lead gaurd and stole it but it didn't work since I didn't kill the other gaurds
Nah it's the one where you chop off limbs
Lame
I played two or three hours of Odyssey and I really, really did not care for it
I completed it yesterday
My brother made me play it cause he liked it
If I had to play an assassin's Creed tho
Might be that one
I guess it's just not my series. I admire the scope of Odyssey, very pretty
I only beat the first one
It was very entertaining
I was hyped for this but .. uhh.. this looks like a damn mobile game. https://youtu.be/-tfikU-HjnY
The original Burnout creators have revived Road Rage mode in their new game Dangerous Driving. Danger Zone 2 Review: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GGyJs9DA...
it's made by former devs of the Burnout games by the way
also there's no music in the game but it does have Spotify integration
so you'll need a premium Spotify account unless you wanna hear ads lol
I am so conflicted about this tbh
I mean YAY a 'new' Burnout style game but
this is just a former shadow of what was once great
yeaa
only Asphalt 9
seems MUCH prettier

I don't like the mobile games lol
just go straight to the racing
I stopped after the asphalt 6
ahh
yea it is a bit grindy now ๐
I used to grind to get that top car
Then they just added a new top car halfway
I said fuck it
Lol
lol right
seeing how these former Burnout devs are now only a tiny team you really can't expect too much
also : Dangerous Driving is Epic Games Store too :>
meanwhile all their other released titles are on Steam
Burnout 3 Takedown ๐
's literally Burnout 3 but better graphics
I played the HELLLL out of that
PCSX2
ohh
i also have Burnout Legends on my vita
which is like a Greatest Hits of Burnout 1-2-3 levels

Idk how many of you were paying attention to Project Wight but it's now called Darkborn and has a new gameplay video
RIP, must have been when I was at work ๐
Nah lol
I meant we discussed about it
Post it again np
Something about it being sad and gory
Lol
I hope Blessed Unleashed is good, it looks like Black Desert without the tedious grind and P2W crap
@teal mason have you tried Burnout 3 on emulator more recently? It may have been smoothed out now.
But also, typically you'll want to use the software renderer over hardware if it's giving you all sorts of trouble
Hrrm, have any of you tried the PC game Kenshi?
Ive tried it for a while
Fell off a bit
Got other stuff to play
It was pretty cool tho
Sword punk
It sounded interesting from the article i read
On a different note, Furi's now got an invincible mode:
https://www.thegamebakers.com/furi-invincible-mode-lets-players-focus-on-the-story-or-practice-their-run/
Interesting. maybe then I can finally beat Furi
Also haha at the review bombing of borderlands 2. "We are upset that a game is being put on epic instead of steam" proceeds to make steams review system look broken excellent job guys.
That will show the developers to love steam.
It ignores review bombs now for the rating, I think?
Oh, that's good
I think I remember them rolling that out a while ago actually.
Still though. Cry babies.
TribeXR. VR DJ School. Well worth checking out on Steam, viveport and facebookVR. If anyone has ever wanted to try DJing but put off by cost of entry you can now get yourself set up if you already have vr http://www.twitch.tv/tribexr/v/406039236?sr=a&t=7s

@visual snow are you playing og issac or afterbirth+?
Also much of my excitement about video games is being brought out by Iconoclasts and Octopath Traveler
I legit had a similar feeling during Iconoclasts this morning to how I felt playing Commander Keen as a kid ๐
Huh, Armored Core 1 introduces you to the game with a brief test fight, but unlike later From games doesn't say screw you if you don't pass in time
Also omg does Armored Core 1 not feel right with touch controls
so loading up my old copy of A Link to the Past, I think I may have started a new save way back when on it at some point
Got to the Dark World, think it was? Went through the first dungeon and stopped it looks like
i need to play through that someday haha
talking to my friend last night i really need to play back through Okami too
...what i really need to do is finish games ๐
same tbh
The number of games I've started but not finished far exceeds the number finished
Its satisfactory after all
It is great indeed
I've decided to shamelessly copy bee and stream some sekiro as well but probably worse
shame!
yes I am shamelss thank https://www.twitch.tv/wmpc
and I don't even speak English in the stream
Nice

what that?
a shitty game
oof
like a game so shitty it was on AGDQ Awful block
nice, AC Origins humble monthly for next month
๐คข
Origins made me quit playing AC, lol
Syndicate was the last one and you can't convince me otherwise
no 2
AC ended after Black Flag.
You can't have a sequel to something that ended with pirate shanties.
You weren't an assasin in 4 though, just a pirate
I haven't played any AC games, and Origins looked neat.
Play it
So I'll probably enjoy it, although won't play it soon most likely
I mean, that's fair. But come on.
Tell me that AC evoked any emotion from the PC or player on the level of that "Parting Glass" scene from the end of Black Flag since and I'll happily concede. They're fun games past that, but that was the last time I really felt for the characters in the same way.
I haven't played past the first so i'm just bein' silly here
i played like 15 seconds of one of them, not sure which one it was though.
either the first or the second I believe.
lmao what even:

A little of it, yeah
interesting
Not sure how far it goes, but you can basically build little Mario levels through this LBP3 level
and it's just wat
yeah that's really impressive
next we'll be able to do it in Dreams
Bees don't dream
so. i dunno how many of you played/remember/know of Einhander for the PS1, but that game honestly 1. still fuckin' rips, 2. is surprisingly sweet on a phone
@light cairn i feel like you may know about this
i think i've heard of it but otherwise nope
@echo hill
why
did
you
not tell me
satisfactory has jelly landing pads?!
ty Bee this game is now excellent
if they ever touch the jelly landing pads so help my jelly
Jelly time
it also has blade runners
Did y'all know it's playable in VR and nonVR and only for $19.99 https://t.co/4kvJ9rvrWC

i am so excite
aaahhhh
I've been waiting for so long for that game to be announced for pc
get everyone that has PS4 to buy so they can afford to port ๐ฎ
All Oddworld games are 75% off on Steam rn
I recommend Stranger's Wrath HD, it's $2
Munch's Odyssey HD is $1 and also good
@austere lance thanks for the heads up
New assassin's Creed game details leaked lol
Set in ancient rome
Definitely won't play it
๐
Seems the ancient Egypt,Greece and Rome trilogy was planned
Beforehand
Yikes
I mean it's probably just another swordsman game... instead of making you a assassin lol
Grind to become a level 50 swordsman in a assassin game
History buffs might like it
Why, they have used Rome already
If its not like Spartacus Blood and Sand: The Game I am not interested
Also I have too much else to play now haha
Ive almost got all my party members and then its on to more difficult areas
But Vikings wouldn't be Rome
Romans encountered Vikings
Nah
They thought they were freaks of nature being all tall n shit
But yeah this last dude is literally the most everyman in the game
Visigoths
"I just wanna leave town"
Vikings weren't even around until the Roman Empire fell
Jason scherier leak
Set in Italy ๐คท
So basically ancient rome
You are combining two rumors gamer
One is from the Easter egg you just showed, positing Vikings
The other is a kotaku rumor about Rome
As far as vikings go I aint even played god of war yet
I loved it
Next Assassins Creed is codenamed Legion in 2020 on current and next gen.
Set in Italy at the end of the reign of Marcus Aurelius and during the struggles of his son Commodus and the year of 5 emperors.
Play as Cassius or Lucia, a descendant of characters from Origins and Odyssey.
Unclear which is canon, but like Odyssey features choices and heavy RPG elements and same story for both characters.
Made by Ubisoft Sofia to tie up some loose ends for the โAncient Trilogyโ and currently is more first civ intensive than other game.
The main story is more involved in assassins and politics with first civ and flashbacks to other points in Rome history being secondary. Ubi wants to make it feel more like assassins creed while feeling like Odyssey to make old and new fans happy
The map is mainland Italy and a small part of Gaul and Germania like Libya in Origins
Revised mercenary and cultist system. Big cultists and main story assassinations have those memory things.
Yeah I forget about it cuz its on PS4 ๐
That's the one that says Rome and italy
Right, with no mention there of vikings
Say what you want about assasins creed, they get their timelines right
You won't be fighting Vikings if you are in the Roman Empire
Why not
They didn't exist at the time
Maybe Ubisoft nmade them time travel
๐ก
Even if it is Vikings...where will you set it..on the high seas?
One year ago in this discord..
Now..
Ladies and gentlemen
May I present to you
The one
The only
Woot!
Lizard Run is out now available on an android phone near you ๐ฆ

It has its origin in this discord so I thought y'all like to know ๐
Very nice
GAMER STOP WITH THAT AND GO DOWNLOAD LIZARD RUN
review bombing is just ridiculous
There are a lot of ridiculous things in the industry lol
there are a lot of ridiculous things about the community
one of these things people usually talk about; the other not so much ๐
btw Euro Truck Sim is unexpectedly amazing
dude ultimate road trip
though fuck if i can get used to the left side of the road after a lifetime of america
Maybe see if there are mods for that
NO
im okay with the left side of the road it just takes getting used to
i totally didn't run into a cop
I need to eventually try farming simulator
Farming Sim is a nice chill game
I've got 17. Probably getting 19
Yeah
awesome
It happened last year
i was playin farm sim 17 it was so relaxing
Holy shit. It is
Yep.
I'll sometimes watch Twitch at work, and farming sim is one of the ones I'll check out. So chill at work
I have two weeks set for Andromeda
And then wildlands
After that I will either get farm sim or sims4
dude all I've been doing at work is playing Octopath Traveler
and when I say "all I've been doing" i mean 100% all I've been doing
Nice. Has to get boring though...
It is?
combat mechanics are brilliant; the art style is lovely
i just finally got all the characters in my party today
I need to watch for a sale on that one
Yeah, but I'd still get it on Switch
Hmmm
The combat is outstanding in that game
Good bosses
Unlike ff6 for example
I didnt like the bosses in that one
I'm stuck on my phone since someone found out about Pixelmon.....
Lmao
Mhmm
Is Pixelmon a mod for Minecraft?
Yep
Space Engine
indeed
Is that a volcano?
yep
Nice
on that planet likely never moves
Mt. Erebus looking good this year.
so Olympus Mons style
Olympus Mons is enormous because tectonic shift doesn't happen on Mars so activity remains constant
planet died billions of years ago
Oof, this poor person in the Halo Discord just learned MCC probably won't run on Linux
imagine having a linux and still intending to play games
This post was made by windows gang
lol
imagine having a windows and still intending to have stability
This post was made by chaos gang
Oof, they thought the games were all separate
Imagine having a PC
Yeah, lol
This post was made by the PS4 gang but not from our PS4 because it don't do internet so good
I mean i know some collections have games on separate installs/discs/whatever, but
Imagine having internet

This post made by SMS to Discord
SMS to discord
I think at &t found their new business model
1$ for each message
imagine no possessions; i wonder if you can
Epic
Now they're in denial about them being in one big collection, smh. "Maybe the Steam version will be different!"
I sent them this pic and said "I doubt it", lol
Remember when you had blow the cartridge with air so that it would work
Hey.
no because i was PC only after colecovision
Or hold it in a specific position till it actually works
That was a valid trick.
Lol
so i had the "you don't have the 1 computer in existence this is made for, fuck you"
I mean I did it after the cartridge sees lot of use
Don't try to convince me that the moisture from my breath didn't actively help the cartridge to figure out what it was doing.
I mean computers didn't have many games ..consoles were more popular
i had 250 game demos
Computers were the first consoles...?
I meant like separate consoles you hook up to the TV
now they all have rules, and to keep anything you must break them all
My mum used to tell me fondly of a game called Murtcep's Castle that she used to play with her brother and sister on their Sinclair Spectrum. Only trouble was, theirs was a bugged copy that swapped around the dragon and the vendor. So you'd go to the dragon to buy your items, but if you approached the vendor, he'd kill you.
Lmao
that's excellent tbh
Finally started Shadow of War
but did you even play the Light of Peace first?
Does anyone here play FFXIV
I do
๐
Casually, though. I don't have a whole lot of time to play
I wanna get back into it
I usually only play casually so a lot of people get mad at me when I don't know a dungeon by heart after doing it two times lmao
I just upped my sub oof
Same
I wish they could figure out a way to make a Final Fantasy that was more flexible to replay in single-player
I've never been big into the regular FF games
The stories are super cool, if a bit convoluted at times, but it's not great to go through them over & over
I got the plat for XV and have zero desire to go back
I dunno about XV but the past ones nailed a certain feel/atmosphere that I like to spend time with/in
I'm about to spend $24 https://youtu.be/7eZawoaoxas
I bought the aquamarine Carbuncle forever ago
Someone is selling mounts on eBay for $14
I'm godawful at Shadow of War, lol
Holy shit, I thought I killed an Orc by feeding him to Morghul flies but he came back later half-eaten and batshit crazy ranting about "the many legs freeing his mind" and tried to kill me again. This time I sliced his friggin head off
by the by, Armored Core is still that good mech shit
and when From is inspired to make another, it will be a good day
Space engine
a game i cried to; always high praise
it was gorgeous
The BL3 guns are looking really unique and cool
suros?
Unpopular opinion: Star Citizen is a concept of a game which has gathered almost $250 million since it was announced in 2012, and has yet to put out anything resembling the game that was promised (that almost two million people sunk money into), leaving the makers of the game (Chris Roberts / Cloud Imperium Games) to actually go on record and say that it's on the back-burner while they focus on making another game (a spinoff in the same universe, Squadron 42), in the hopes that sales from Squadron 42 will boost hype and further inflate already inflated profit margins to put out the project that they've been attempting to hype for almost a decade.
Now, to a lot of people, this might seem like people who made fantastic promises on a concept, without a clue of where to go with it, got more money than any studio knows what to do with, and have squandered an awesome opportunity for video gaming for the sake of placating the people who've sunk money into a project. And they'd be right. But people from the outside looking in would also probably rightfully be pissed off at finding out that, in placating these fans, they've also damn near guaranteed that the system will be a pay-to-win model, where the people who've already bought into it will be guaranteed a better game than those who are or will get into the finished product.
No. I wouldn't touch it if it were water and I was on fire.
Damn.
Wasn't that kind of obvious from the start? Charging thousands for ships and stuff, IIRC?
I'd say your opinions are biased, my friend.
That's strong hatred towards something you haven't spent a penny on anyways.
Charging that much for a ship is stupid
Bias doesn't mean it's incorrect, and for that amount of oversight, you'd have to be as tall as a tree and twice as thick.
Yeah lol you're rigt
They should not be doing that
you can buy ships ingame now though
paying that much for a ship is even more stupid.
They will be lost to you every update here and there when they add the new content
But the alpha stage looks really good right now
Think of what you just said.
"The alpha stage..." for a game that was ANNOUNCED in 2012.
It's STILL in Alpha.
What is the project if not the game?
Since 2012 they had to come up from scratch with a studio, staff, engineers, developers, an engine with the vision they had...
(S42 didn't exist at that point, so there was just one game)
Now we have more than a tech demo, ever since alpha 3.0
Yeah, and what was the expected timeframe, back at the start of that "project"?
In a span of eight years they did all this, brother. You get Cyberpunk 2077 from a company as successful as CD Projekt Red and they are developing that game for 12 years now.
The initial estimated target release date was said to be 2014, and has since been delayed repeatedly as the game grew in scale.
"It makes me proud, humble and determined to make the best game I possibly can as you all deserve nothing less." - Chris Roberts, October 19th, 2012, on the Kickstarter after it raised $155,000
Keep lying to yourself to protect your investment, but he was offering A GAME. He set out to raise funds FOR A GAME.
Cyberpunk 2077 started preproduction in 2015
development is different than product, mind you
a game can stay in the concept stage for a long time
Yes, and his privately owned studio raised 215 million dollars and they are delivering a game that is totally new with everything in it, from the engine's tech to the very core of role-playing. I dig that. So I bought the puny alpha stage for $45 and been enjoying it ever since, to be honest. I even participate in their development; something you can also do.
And we haven't been promised anything, mate. Stop being so dramatic.
No video game, regardless of what it offers the player in sense of scope or scale, is worth $250 million worth of funding over the course of a decade.
But a lot of people dig the idea lol so they just supported the project
Why are you hating on it for being so weirdly and unbelievably successful?
Because think of the precedent it sets if it actually does well.
Dude.
Just watch CitizenCon 2948
Give it a try.
Check out the road map https://robertsspaceindustries.com/roadmap/board/1-Star-Citizen
See some gameplay from Rexzilla's Twitch streams.
And if you still think it's a scam, well...
No, no, no. I'm asking your opinion. I am giving you that much.
I don't need you to give me that much, mate.
Then you can jolly well bugger off with your concept, "mate".
Give him your damn opinion and move on
Sorry
I don't think its a scam, and that's coming from someone who only plays on console and has followed what theyve done for a while. I think they've made big strides and really have a vision to do something ambitious.
It'll probably come out... Eventually...
It will
Maybe... It'll only be a decade late then
Personally, while I don't believe it's a scam either, I do see where Andre's coming from - this game has set the crowdfunding bar over and over and over. Will we see it in other games? Sure, most likely. Do I want it to come out? Yeah, I also funded at the $45 level. It's ambitious, and if it actually works like they hope, it's going to be groundbreaking
Look. The way I see it, and the way I'm trying to explain it is, regardless of how it comes out or how good it lives up to the hype, it absolutely fucks with the gaming industry, and that is going to suck for EVERYBODY.
goes back to watching Minecraft vids
Yeah, me too. Didn't mean to come out as an asshole or anything. Sorry if I did, though.
It's also going to be.... basically an MMO. S42 seems more interesting to me really.
Apologies, brother Andre.
I'm VERY curious about S42
Road map says beta in 2020, so hype train is still too far away.
Squadron 42 looks awesome. Honestly, it does. And for a company that's been pretty fiddling away at themselves for eight years as they amassed a quarter of a billion dollars, I really hope it's great. But Star Citizen SHOULD. NOT. BE. RELEASED.
Oh, god no. Star Citizen will be released probably 2 years after SQ42.
One would call me optimistic for saying 2 years lol
Eh... Getting all that money and not releasing it would be even more fail than getting all that and releasing something that isn't very good in the end.
Also, my apologies for getting frustrated with you, man. I've just had to explain this a few times to people, and it's kinda getting...bothersome to see people defending it so vehemently.
I wouldn't even say dev hell simply because we're getting semi-regular updates
It's okay, brother. I still disagree with you, though, but I might be the biased one.
In January 2018, Cloud Imperium Games revised its Terms of Service to limit refund requests to a 14-day 'cancellation period'. Earlier versions offered refunds if the project wasn't released within 12 months of the promised Nov. 2014 date. That offer was changed to 18 months in a later update, and replaced with the current 14-day refund terms in 2018. that's pretty scammy, really.
Alpha stage dope, though. If you decide to hop in, use my referral code.
Yeah, that one looks shady, if you ask me.
But you are the one who decides how much to pledge man. And if you pledge $1,000 like some people do, you are bloody well sure that you have that money to spend on it, and if not, you got 14 days, which looks fair enough for regular people who know how to manage that kind of spending.
I've seen people pledge $10,000 for f*ck's sake.
They are the one's who got this project to 215million lol
You can enjoy the game with that $1,000 the same way I enjoy mine with $45.
You see, there are two outcomes to this if the game comes out.
1: The game is released and it's awesome! It lives up to the hype, and it's everything that the community who have bought into it wanted from it all along. This means that it's perfectly okay for an indie studio to crowdfund a quarter of a billion dollars of gamers' money, sit on it for a decade, and MAYBE put out a product at the end that lives up to the hype. If that's what an INDIE studio can do, what do you think the big players in the industry will do? You think lootboxes are bad? You think EA is a monster of a company now? Were you upset with Bethesda for Fallout 76? Imagine what they will do when they know...WHEN THEY KNOW...that they can take gamers for suckers, because if they put out the bare minimum, regardless of what it is that they offered initially, WE'LL GIVE IT TO THEM.
2: The game is mediocre or, worse still, a flop! This will be a HUGE hit to indie studios and developers, as it will damn near guarantee that funding will be a million times harder to find. You think a great concept is a good game? Nope. Unless you've already got a project off the ground on your own, good luck getting it crowdfunded, because if a project that had $250 million sunk into it can release something that was underpar, how the hell is anyone going to be able to put out a product that is worth a damn? Would you, as an investor, pour money into a game when a studio could pull what Cloud Imperium Games pulled? Throwing out vaporware would be the equivalent to putting a $250 million stake into the coffin of indie studios, and it would ruin gaming as a whole for a long time.
I expect a lot of the people who backed it (for silly amounts) wanted something like ED but better/different/whatever... And that's probably what they'll get.
I actually think they are contributing very much to the game development industry...
If you ask me...
idk
That's why I'm all for Squadron 42. And I hope it's a great game. Because what they should do after it's out and released is say, "We're sorry. We fucked up. We'll refund what money we can or try to adapt S42 into what you thought Star Citizen was going to be, but there's no possible way we can make what we offered." They need to take that hit.
In January 2017, when asked about the financial situation of Star Citizen, Chris Roberts said: "Iโm not worried, because even if no money came in, we would have sufficient funds to complete Squadron 42. The revenue from this could in-turn be used for the completion of Star Citizen."
Sh*t happened and they raised this massive amount of money. Chris Roberts is not just another freelancer, he knows his things; he's been in the industry long enough. I don't trust it, but I believe it can happen.
We will have Squadron 42.
Even that is apparently going to be an episodic thing...
The game is planned to be released in multiple chapters, and according to the developers will be offering an estimated of 20 hours of gameplay for SQ42 Episode 1 with about 70 missions worth of game play, "Squadron 42 Episode Two: Behind Enemy Lines" and "Episode 3," will launch later.
I remember full well what happened to Duke Nukem Forever. I hate to keep saying it, but EVERY. MOVE. THEY'VE. MADE has been the same that we dealt with then for DNF.
Wow
May Star Citizen take another decade if it needs perfection. No one's doing sh*t these days, and they are my only hope for a true role-playing open world, and in an entire universe while at that.
So meh
take my $45 bucks
I enjoy it while it lasts lol
If I don't get my Squadron 42 in 2020 though I might hunt Christiano Roberto myself
You know, when I was younger, I buried one of my favorite toys in a time capsule in the back yard of my old house. I don't even remember where that house is now. I will never see that toy again. Should I be glad that I buried it so that some poor bastard, maybe decades or centuries down the road can play with it? Sure, if that makes me feel better. But it still kinda sucks that I didn't have it to play with.

Just saying. Tomorrow's not guaranteed for anyone. You don't know where you'll be in a year. God knows, you're probably not where you were today compared to where you thought you'd be back in 2012. I don't blame people who bought into the idea when it was announced, because it seemed like the holy grail of space sim games. But it's 2019. We should all grow up a bit and move the hell on.
I feel you man. Good luck.
Aye, and to you.
In the meantime, everyone should play Metro Exodus
Or, I mean...you could play No Man's Sky.
After all, it's kinda why we're all here.
Was it any good, like the games before?
It was amazing
Same
That dude is a f*cking beast.
Mother-Russia must be proud of that game.
Americans love it.
Yes, always neat to experience something from another continent that takes place in that specific location
Post apocalypse Russia. So cool
Yeah
We are missing something with Asia vibe in it.
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is phenomenal.
But we need something with Chinese folklore in it. I'd dig that.
Id like that
Also, I think I found something you'd like, BETTO.
Something a little more laid back as well

Funnily enough, this was made before the actual Duke Nukem Forever was released (he did a review of that too, once it was out), but the point he makes near the end, amid all the sarcasm, is the point I was trying to explain.

ok how much money do they expect to get S42 to be able to sustain SC?
cos if a couple hundred mil ain't gonna do it a couple mil more ain't either
Squadron 42 sales will be good.
Even very good, but you know...
It can also be a disaster.
what, hundreds of mil US of A dollarydoos good?
you're kidding yourself if you think that'll be the case
They did get Mark Hamill (who keeps saying he likes the lore man than he ever liked Star Wars'), Henry Cavil (who's occasionally plays it himself
), and many other big Hollywood names involved in it.
that just sounds like more ways to get even less money for themselves
That money is going somewhere man, and they are genuinely trying.
They did spend 4 million a month in 2017
That was a harsh year, though.
They are still with their legal battle with CryTek.
Had to migrate the whole engine to Luberyard.
srsly tho I'd like to see what their projections will be for S42 to be able to sustain SC's development
Amazon's heavily modified CryEngine.
You won't get any of the SQ42 lore at all, no matter how hard you try.
But the alpha stage lets you see the tech they are messing around with, man.
I really appreciate that kind of transparency; we have the community members actively participating in bug fixes and all that, while they release their quarterly content.
2018 was the one with the most content, and 2019 will give us even more than we got in all these 8 years combined lol
*hopefully
Like, there needs to be a big asterisk on there, man. 2019 isn't over with. We've only just passed the first quarter. And while, yeah, it's awesome to hear that they're coming out with great stuff and updates and keeping people posted...saying "this year, we will be getting..." should have an asterisk that either implies or outright states "hopefully".
Yeah, Crusader planet might be pushed to Q3 2020, but still...
3.5 brought ArcCorp
The gif I sent you is from the streets of ArcCorp
Looks very Blade Runner-esque
When did you send me a gif? XD I didn't catch that.
Scroll up, you'll find a link.
I mean if they use their inhouse engine it'd only make sense they can make more assets and mechanics now and not in the past
cos they'd be making an engine back then
Oh, the one that also includes, "Scam this, bitch"?
That gif was posted in the gaming subreddit on April 1, saying it's a leaked Cyberpunk 2077 content
Yeah, that one.
Brother...
And they actually believed it lol
Like, yeah, it's an awesome looking gif.
Good luck
I get that you're excited, and that's awesome.
But you only have to look at something like Anthem and see the trailer that they debuted, saying that that would be the game at launch, and then seeing what actually shipped with the game and realize that a rendered video of a game can be made by ANYBODY.
Like...please tell me that you see that through the haze of those rose-tinted glasses? I am open to admitting that Star Citizen has a whole lot of hope and potential packed into it.

We sit down with Founder and CEO Chris Roberts to discuss all things Alpha 3.5 and beyond. ------------------------------------------ Roberts Space Industrie...
This is a one on one with the CEO of CIG. Discussing the new alpha 3.5 update (released this month) and the future of the development.
There's a comment with all the relevant timestamp, if you want.
I just realized, you've never followed the development in the slightest. So give these a chance.
The city is impressive.
Indeed.
It's their first take with the procedural city generation
It's still in public testing before it goes live to alpha
Nobody is ever going to be able to run that game, lol
I'm rocking a GTX 1060 and get 40fps on that planet.
Deep space it goes all the way up to 90fps.
How many planets and cities and space stations are they planning?
All thanks to OCS (Object Container Streaming) technology they developed for a game with this much scale.
First, they want to polish the engine to it's near full potential with the first system, the Stanton system.
It has 4 planets and couple of more moons.
They will have around 50+ systems in release.
Lore has 200+ systems.
Right now, though, you only have access to 2 planets, and all of their moons.
Hurston, with it's capital city Lorville, and ArcCorp, a planet-size city.

<<Insert intense think emoji here>>

here I am, just trying to kick off my space adventure and I can't even dock 1 shuttle ๐ญ
nvm GOT IT
With the last shuttle taking off from the surface; my adventure begins! ๐
(Surface of Earth btw)
What is that game, @full pivot?
aside from the ship controls yeah its just a proc-gen universe
but it is the universe
i'll be finding out how warp drive works once i dock with my last shuttle
Step 1 is complete ๐
How demanding is it?
it ran fine on a 970
I got a 1060
there are many LoD settings
i don't think its too hyper intensive unless you turn it ALL the way up
If I do, though... does it get below 30fps?
What GPU do you have right now?
You still with the 970?
Well, you can turn on Nvidia capture. If you do so, lemme know.
Does anyone want to buy wolfenstien deluxe edition digital code for ps4

Anyone

nah i buy my own games thx
Not the right place to sell your games, mate.
Yea itโs a digital code I bought by mistake
yea from amazon
Did it happen today?
No a while ago
Unfortunately I just noticed SpaceEngine doesn't add on ReShade to the in-program screenshot function so I'll have to do this the hard way. This is what I've been looking at ๐
Orbit of the Moon; pre-warp checks underway. First warp travel test will begin in 16 hours...
(I added all the flavour text btw)
I can't take any pics in Andromeda lol
Using prt screen just creates a black image
Playing Andromeda made me sleepy
How many hours do you have, as of now? @meager panther
6-7 hours
Just learned that red dead redemption 2 will be an epic store exclusive on PC ๐ cant wait to see the rage from people
Another game with that UI style, ugh... I don't remember Borderlands being like that...
Must.Conform.
so if RDR3 is getting released on PC it's gonna get a year's delay
it's not really a thing to be enraged about
btw Eastshade is such a relaxing game
kinda wish there'd be a game set in the modern era and you take pictures instead of painting
I'm all in
what UI style?
The one that's fine but Moo hates
@teal mason you mean RDR2 :>
The "curved helmet overlay" or whatever it's meant to represent.
?
Too late!
Rdr 3 when?
I was trying to find where it originated... Looks like the original Crysis had it, but only very slightly.
@winter yew RDR1 is Revolver, change my mind
?
that's what a company that can't count would say
i suppose lol.
R* really just named RDR3 Redemption 2 so it would confuse the people who actually played RDR1 and get more money out of the Redemption name
I dunno about all that
I remember back when RDR3 was being teased people were talking about how it's gonna be named Revelation lol
considering Revolver was the first Red Dead game and was originally going to a spiritual successor to CAPCOM's Gun Smoke from 1985
sure we'll go with that
Making a sequel, with a similar but altered name... then making a sequel to that sequel with the same name and "2"...
well that was before Take-Two acquired the original studio that was making the game
that got renamed from Angel Studios to Rockstar San Diego
I really do remember a few people referring to Redemption as RDR2 tho
and that's where their game in progress got cancelled originall ๐
most of em played Revolver so I guess that make sense to em
I suppose
and then Redemption 2 came out and now there's 2 RDR2
but as far as I can tell the storylines and characters have nothing to do with each other
in Revolver and Redemption's games anyway
People had theories but nothing ever was officially stated or whatever
well it was back in the day when Ubi still hasn't gave up on numbers
so people were likely to associate the different titles in a single franchise together as sequels
ยฏ_(ใ)_/ยฏ
the characters in Revolver aren't even the same names as anyone else in the Redemption games...๐
Yeah, when you join a campfire, you can get stories from the people there
oh nice
I dunno if that's a thing in RDR2 because every time I approach someone they get all standoffish or killed by their horse lol
Lol
Mostly it's not, but there are some that don't kill themselves or you
Sometimes if you chill, people will show up and ask to join you- and sometimes to just kill you also, of course
right
