It's basically the whole issue I've had with even more recent stuff like The Division
For me Action & RPG rarely make a positive blend, because I like the more immediate feedback of a carefully aimed shot taking out enemies immediately, or simply a careful spray taking them out quickly, which is largely counter to the entire notion of RPG combat

Division is as far away from an RPG as possible, it's a crap looter shooter that fails miserably at being realistic. Mass Effect is a proper RPG with choices that affect all 3 games, characters you care about, and (from 2 onward) damn good combat
Hell, it even has the standard Bioware staples like leveling up your team separately with everyone having different roles and pausing combat to use abilities yourself or order your squad to

My current mistake with Elite Dangerous is that I keep forgetting to load up my ship with the product I'm supposed to deliver.
I'm too used to No Man's Sky and how deliveries are 'automatically' loaded into your inventory so then all you gotta do is fly to the destination.

I had MHgen for about two years
Never really got TOOO far into it but it was enough to give me an idea of what Monster Hunter games are like
My problem is I am very impatient
So i tend to disregard studying monsters’ movements
I got to the first Glavenus encounter in MHgen and promptly got my ass handed to me lol
About half a year later I decide to pick up the game again to try it again, I got a little further this time but he still carted me
I think I’m mostly just under-equipped in my armor and weapons
As for MhWorld, I’m closing in on MR50 soon
I’ve gotten pretty good with the switch axe and charge blade at least but still lack the timing to pull off certain combos
I would like to try MH4U some day, I’ve heard it’s the ‘best’ on the 3ds
Still impressed me they got MH3 and MH4 running at 60fps on the 3ds, where MHgen feels like a sluggish 30 now

But at least MHWorld rewards you in revealing more information about the monsters as you fight them more
I also like that the monster you’ve most recently captured with a trap is there in Astera to observe, even though it’s sleeping :p

not super familiar with the former, and am suspecting the latter is like several recent games (e.g. Inquisition, & even NMS with frigates) where you send out groups to do things & get stuff back after x amount of time?
whatever the case realtime w/ random results or just flat out random results to try to bypass active time put in is just blegh to me as a workaround.
there's just zero benefit to padding out gameplay to my mind. repeating microloops for eventual substantial satisfaction vs. quick hits of satisfying gameplay is pretty straightforward imo, go with the latter even if it burns out ur enjoyment faster. better than getting bored and drifting away and avoiding as you think about how long it would take to feel something satisfying
