Dragon Quest XI has a cool little feature at the start that lets you modify the experience to make it more challenging, forget what it's called now. Draconian settings or somesuch
There's also a nice option in the menu to heal your entire party without having to go through them individually, and then a more efficient heals option, which I guess maybe uses whatever will heal the most in one fell swoop instead of multiple items? Not tried it yet

Ooh, the Double Gear system in Mega Man 11 is really cool. There's another aspect to it where, when you're low on health, you can use both the Power & Speed gears at once to try & get yourself out of a bind, but you have to be careful in using it, as afterwards your Mega Buster is drained a bit, preventing you from firing it as rapidly & the shots do less damage.

They've done a good job at balancing them out it seems like, so that it doesn't feel too stupid easy if ya try a lower setting.

The way it works though, is the first time you cut off an armor piece, you get a blueprint for it. Beyond that, if you cut off something you already have the prints for, it gives you a basic mat common to that type of armor (i.e. the same across all arm pieces). Stronger sets require higher tier mats though, going up to I think tier V (5) in new game
