It's an open world exploration game where you do some very light quests for folks to collect gold bricks to unlock more & more features & world sizes until you become a Master Builder, which is basically just: ya got all the things, now have fun building!

That's actually what killed D1 for me. I'd never played it before and I hopped in with the deluxe edition, it gave me the level boost so I popped it. It marked EVERYTHING on my map and I just got confused and didn't play more than maybe 15 hours
