PSA: Humble Spring Sale is going on for the next two weeks. NMS is 64% off.
yiss
Ohey, and The Flame in the Flood is free for a bit!
It is. Grab it if you want it.
๐คฆ Humble still doesn't have a sort option in their wish lists
I think I'm going to grab Red Strings Club and play that tonight.
๐คท I'm not giving it much thought beyond 5.14
Which obviously just means Prey DLC release Monday
I wish
Hey, it was decent
Great, nah, but it played well enough for the dumb shoot'ems it was going for
i wish ES VI could just be announced already....
If it's like Skyrim & Fallout 4 it'll be a rail-shooter pretending to be an open world action game, lol
every other bethesda ip besides fallout and ES IMO are obselete as all hell
lol no
imo
them as devs
Ah yeah...What else do they even have?
dishonored for example is great, but they published that
Arkane is โค
i thought bethesda published rage..?
might be wrong on that
developed*
not published
id developed it
oooh
I think it was their last big title before the latest Doom?
yea, sounds about right
Do you think they'll use a 2 that looks like an R for the name? 2age
Holy crap, Bethesda Game Studios literally doesn't have much of anything outside of Fallout & Elder Scrolls, lol
lol, I hope not Dev
Scrap Elder Scrolls VI, we're going back into drag racing!
Looking into this I now realize why it's hard to keep Bethesda sorted. The first couple Elder Scrolls they released as Bethesda Softworks until they let that become the publishing arm while they went off as Game Studios, lol
That'd be a huge E3 announcement
Yeah. There are multiple Bethesdas to keep track of.
only thing from bethesda i will ever want them to do, is give the next fallout game to obsidian
would be heavenly
Even with that though, there's not much else Bethesda developed. Not recently anyways.
overall, #1 thing from E3 i want is another animal crossing
Agreed. Animal Crossing and IHRA Professional Drag Racing 2019.
I've only played the Gamecube and DS games.
hot damn Abutchera, that's some dedication
Yeah but NES games in your house
I dabbled a bit with Animal Crossing but never had it click to where I was like, "Y'know, I wanna play it again."
But I liked that it was super chill
that happened to me with stardew
I have a KK Slider amiibo. He's cool.
i would get into it for a little bit, but my stardew hours didnt get past 20
I feel like if I were to really settle into Stardew I could maybe get into it more than Animal Crossing
But I really liked diggin' up fossils in Animal Crossing
there is more to do in stardew, but also kinda overwhelming
Ohh yes I forgot about that one
Have nier
Probably going to put money down on dark souls remastered
Prepare to die
Lol
It never ends!
I'm trying to decide whether I want Lumines Remastered for Switch or PC.
I'll probably go PC though.
I had never heard of it, but looking it up, that looks like a good switch game
The type you'd want to have on the go
Anyone else find it hard to predict what game is going to hook them?
It used to be, when I was a kid, I could play anything
Now I either get bored of a game or am into it until it's done.
Either I put 10 hours in and just stop playing or I play it for 200 hours
And it's often hard to know what game is going to fall into what category
I play a little of everything & have trouble sticking with any particular one, but not due to lack of enjoyment
It's more the retraining/relearning process for every game that kinda wears on me
So many games drag that out
Also I always feel I have to play games on the hardest difficulty because if I don't, halfway through the game it gets way too easy. Unfortunately, this means I usually get my ass beat for a couple hours.
So that probably contributes.
It's often either they drag it out or just dump you in the deep end & let the game kick your ass for awhile, lol
Dark Souls, babyyyy
I also play a bit of everything. Some games that are hugely popular and well reviewed just don't draw me in (Stardew Valley, Breath of the Wild) and a couple of the games I've played a lot of don't have great reviews (NMS, Master of Orion).
Last game everyone liked that I didn't was Titanfall 2
This is probably why I tend towards games that are pretty streamlined, not overly simple, just that they only need you to know a few buttons & basics & let ya go
Last game people don't like that I liked was Mad Max
I didn't love it or anything but I beat it.
I don't beat the majority of games I start.
If I get through a game, it was pretty good. Or it was really short.
I still don't know how/why exactly I find RTS & basebuilding games enjoyable ๐ค
They have many elements I dislike in RPGs, just...Decentralized
But yeah, I haven't really had any games grab me lately that were very long
I don't like shooters and I don't like competitive multi-player games, so there goes like half of the popular titles.
What about PS4 games that are 20-30 dollars? That eliminates games I really want (persona 5, god of war, monster Hunter) and leaves games I kind of want (Witcher 3, watch dogs 2, Dishonored 2)
Anyone played Dishonored 2 or watch dogs 2?
Already have Rocket League?
Yes
Man, I don't know what games are at what prices atm, lol
I used to play it a bunch but got burnt out
Until Dawn?
I loved Prey
Dishonored 2's clockwork mansion area is supposed to be wild
I assume you've played Bloodborne
Bloodborne was what I bought a PS4 for, many moons ago
10/10
Damn it I almost want to get Bioshock collection but I've fucked with those games so hard that's probably a mistake
I've heard Abzu is cool but I haven't played it
I didn't like Abzu, personally
I enjoyed Journey okay and thought Abzu was weaker than journey so it just didn't do it for me. I actually had one of those rare moments where I felt dumb playing a video game
Like what am I doing
Sitting here watching a dude swim with fish
And I was stoned!
Not stoned enough, apparently
Isn't everything
I think Journey was a neat game but it's really overrated
Journey was absolutely phenomenal for what it was
But yeah, Abzu tried to repeat its success and that's not at all easy
I don't get emotional reactions to video games unless the gameplay becomes ingrained
It's a good game. It's a good concept. But some people act like it's the greatest game of all time and eh.
Kind of weird. Ive known people who cry at the end of a story, or really care about characters and I just don't experience that
To The Moon is the ultimate emotional pixel game.
I've gotten emotional playing Dark Souls though. Different strokes, I guess.
I'm kinda the other way, yeah. Gameplay rarely speaks to me in any sort of emotional way.
Probably means god of war will disappoint me, despite the praise
Yeah. Gameplay might get me in the zone (Tetris, Lumines, DDR) but it doesn't do much for me emotionally.
What worked so well for me with Journey was the free feel of the movement, combined with the visuals and the audio. If it had been off in any of those the impact would have fallen entirely flat.
Abzu didn't match Journey because it faltered in the feel of the motion for me
^
Tbh I think the only reason I like the Souls series & Bloodborne at all is the eruption of the score during boss battles
Slightly OT but anyone else really disappointed that FF7 Remake isn't turn-based?
Combined with the tight gameplay, mind
But that soundtrack, especially redone, is going to be ๐ฅ
Good battle music and score in general can add a lot to a game.
I'm mixed on that. If it takes notes from Final Fantasy Type-0 it could be pretty interesting
I haven't played that.
I just don't want it to be like hack and slash or Kingdom Hearts style.
It has active combat that allows you to bounce between characters if memory serves
I'm just excited for a remaster so I can see what the fuss is about
Will probably hate it
Going into it expecting the best game ever is probably a great way to be disappointed
Oh yeah, you have trouble going back to older games, yeah?
I don't like anime style in my games
Then Final Fantasy probably isn't your thing, lol
Keeps me from getting persona 5 even though looks cool. Still trying to get into nier even though nier is interesting to me
Played ff15 and hated it.
Those fucking obnoxious pretty boys
Try FFX-2 ๐
I'm going to have the same reaction
And that cringey car mechanic chick
Haha oh my goodness her
Lol. Yeah X-2 is a great non-anime entry point. XD
And I think the story is a pointless derivitive ball of yarn
Her entire design is so bad, such obvious fanservice...
Creeps me out.
Same thing with Quiet
In metal gear
Kind of liked that game for the crazy gameplay but I hated her.
A beautiful woman that needs to be naked to live AND doesn't talk?? She's the perfect woman!
Sex appeal only works in proper context otherwise it's just garbage marketing, lol
Bayonetta is great because she's sexy & she knows it now check this crazy ass battle
like Heavy Rain
If I had to pick least cringey video game sex scene it would be the Sims
Even a great game like the Witcher 3, the sex scenes are absurd and funny
Sims it's like woohoo, under covers, sure. At least I don't have to watch them struggle to animate what the kissing while humping looks like.
Yeah but this is less sex and more about conveying sexiness
At least how I was thinking about it
Like games convey sex terribly and sexiness

Damn WEEBS!

Im surrounded by anime nerds.
I haven't played Bayonetta but I'd like to
Especially the sequel
it's really good, but you gotta be crazy good at comboing
guys you know what game mastered sexuality in games? The playboy game
lol, i'm still shocked those stupid games came out for some reason
of course they would, but if you're me you're like, "but all the approvals, no one had second thoughts about how dumb it was? why, how."
Probably because they were so cheap to make, I bet
And executive was like "sex sells!" before he was fired.
Even people wanting to masturbate to a video game were like "this is beneath me"
lol, pretty much
Man, if retail game stores had held on longer, there's some weird chance there'd be adult video game stores, lol
Fingers crossed for the death of retail stores meaning esrb loses all power
Agony, that game about being in Hell or whatever, had to trim itself to avoid Adults Only
but apparently they are going to release a free patch to put the naughty back in
"wait, they can do that?"
Like an option
Where you can turn on the extra smut/gore
lol
I can't remember, is Agony going for a horror vibe? I want to say it was, but I glanced at it and thought it was a joke at first
Yes, it's actually a pretty damn clever visual style
That Gieger look
Where structures are made of bodies
Flame, demon boobs, shin bone as a weapon
I should probably give it another look, but my initial impression was, "I can't be scared when everything is blood and bodies, that's just the norm here"
Hellscapes
Ya but it looks cool.
No video game can scare me
A video game has never so much as slightly creeped me out. So it's just about what horror is entertaining or grotesque or interesting or artistic
Yeah, but the point was to be spoopy or somesuch...It's great to look compelling but...I dunno
I have to basically psyche myself out for a game to spook me, lol
The moment I think about it all it falls apart, but that's across media, for the most part
I cannot be frightened by movies or games
Not since I was like 12 or whatever. That's why I love playing horror games with my 18 year old sister
She will scream and legit be like "nope, have to stop playing". In other words, the reactions the game maker wanted people to have
I've seen all the most disturbing movies
and watched a lot of the shock internet stuff. Desensitized as fuck.
So Resident Evil 7 or Agony isn't going to do it.
Bet VR could make me jump though.
Would love to try.
I've tried VR stuff & it's just eh to me
Good efforts, to a degree, but none of it has made me really uneasy yet
Also not sure what to make of this just yet:
https://youtu.be/_tEgeZrOOHM
More content on http://mundfish.com/atomic-heart/ Atomic Heart is an adventure first-person shooter, events of which unfolds in an alternate universe during ...
Oh, I heard that was cool looking, stylistically
Duuude
I dunno. Looks pretty sick.
Yeah, art direction is compelling, just wonder what they're going for narratively
Definitely doesn't seem to tell much. I had to watch without sound though cause my sister is sleeping
World in ruin, robutts trying to smash you
Bet it's going to be the usual world gone bad thing. Seems to be light on characterization.
Kind of gives me a BioShock vibe.
If I had to take a shot in the dark, narratively.
Silent protagonist?
They don't say anything, but it's more into this track playing over the action than any game audio so far as I bothered to notice, lol
Here's what you should do btw:
-wipe your memory of having played Prey
-Play Prey again
Prey 2017 right?
Hey, whichever ya like. ๐
Why?
๐คท I mean you could replay it with memory intact but then it wouldn't feel as fresh/enjoyable
Haha
I feel that way with Bioshock
I liked the ending of Prey even though the robots decision was horrible
And the loading times on PS4 made all the traveling through the station almost unplayable
I was actually going to replay Prey until I realized the loading times would just be too much.
If I get my life together and get a PC, I'll replay Prey and play the old one
Did they never patch that up?
Of course, if I get a PC, I'll basically never be able to play all the games I want to because everyone dies eventually
Nope.
Worst load times on PS4
I've ever had
Definitely. Also, with pre patch bloodborne, you only experienced the loading if you died.
Still sucked and just staring at the name of the game for 2 minutes was bad
But going down the stairs (load) into elevator (load) upstairs (load) all of those being one death load time of pre patch bloodborne is much worse
And if you die, (load) obviously
Hmm, are the areas just that dense in Prey? I've had it stowed away to play at some point
It's actually a really cool level design. The ship satellite you're on is like a vertical skyscraper of levels
So it's not that they are dense, it's just that using the elevator that's in the center of it all requires 3 load times
for a one way trip
So if you need to bring something from the bottom of the ship, and you're at the top, it's three load times to go to the bottom, and three load times to return to the top, as well as running through reasonably long corridors and convoluted levels.
It's awful.
It's only worth playing once on PS4, imo
wh...why? Does it do a thing where it shows the level briefly as you pass by it to demand that or something? O_o
That's just so weird. I feel like they should be able to skip over & only load the selected area.
I don't know. The elevator rooms take a load screen to get into.
Then the elevator takes a load screen
That sounds like some definite backend wonk or somethin'
Basically, they should have just slapped a fast travel mechanic
Halfway through the game
It sucks too because it's actually really cool getting to learn the giant ship
Eventually you have it all mapped out in your head, great level design.
Overwhelming at first, but you learn it. Like old games
It can make backtracking not a problem since new things happen as you backtrack, you find shortcuts, get abilities that open new paths
All that work, wasted by load time problem.
On PC, eliminates the problem of load time but three load screens is still immersion breaking even if it's only seconds
Heh, makes me wonder what they built the game on
Huh, weird that that info's not available for Dishonored 2
But same time, I think to some extent it was more a design issue than entirely a tech issue, unless the tech awkwardly compelled that design
Ya nevermind
I mistook it for a different engine
I don't know.
Definitely must have been a design problem.
Games, whaddya gonna do
Also a post release problem
They should have spent a little time at least improving it.
But, uh, yeah given that they have ya backtrack & all...Yeah
Isn't there going to be prey dlc??
They've sorta been teasing it but only just that
Man, if they are planning a dlc while the game is this slow, that's kinda fucked up
I mean, I'll still buy it.
But I'll complain.
I would love a prey dlc
One of my only big criticisms is enemy variety
and a little bit enemy design. If dlc gave you things more fun to fight to use the super fun combat design, I'd be into it.
I love the left hand does a kooky thing, right hand shoots gun/swings weapon
Which... I just realized is Arkane studios specialty
GotY
Even if they just made some improvements
Just cut it half, would help so much
considering how much loading times there are
This is where Kaz has refrained from reminding us that all our tech talk is not at all how this works, ๐
and yes, you can fix loading issues in DLC
but they could lower the load times
It would be better as a patch to the game engine itself, but no you can do that in a DLC
Haha, it's all good Kaz, I just saw you typing for a sec & had to be silly
The game isn't designed to actually let you go through a door into elevator room, but if the loading time into the elevator room wasn't a minute or longer
that would be great.
Just improve performance.
That's what baffles me...A loading blip into a transitional space to load into other areas, just wat
They had to have known there would be tons of backtracking. I guess they just didn't expect the game to take so long to load
And then after release just washed their hands of it
Moved onto Dishonored: Lady Edition
I did not know that
I just forgot the name of the one after prey
Should I get Dishonored 2?
If ya liked the first & Prey, then it's probably worth it
I never finished Dishonored but I didn't give it a fair chance.
I didn't like the blocky people
Like Bioshock Infinite
Bioshock Infinite is the worst Bioshock.
Bioshock 2 is sometimes almost better than Bioshock
Fite me.
Oh, well, it's still in the same vein artistically as the first so I dunno
If ya couldn't get past that then ๐คท
Ya but I think I just didn't play it long enough
Maybe I'm a little tired of stealth too
I'd recommend giving the first another go if ya still have it
And forget stealth, just be chaotic
I don't but I'm thinking of buying a game
17 bucks
Ohhh dang...
Might be getting dishonered 2...
For cheap games, Watch Dogs 2 pisses me off because of the attitude and characters
wha
but that's what makes it better than the first, even if it doesn't commit to the cheesiness as much as it should
Although I would like it if they'd try the serious take again without being a stupid edgelord about it
I just don't like the banter and hacktivism and cool guy stuff
And super cool likable handsome fingerguns type thing going on
Watch Dogs 1 had a cool premise that they totally squandered
Didn't play that one either. Though I didn't like trench coat dude either
Aiden?
Maybe I just don't like hackers.
Which is better, watch dogs 2 or Dishonored 2?
Damn, Dishonored 2 did better than I thought in reviews
It really depends on what you're looking for out of a game atm
They're just so tonally different, both in narrative & gameplay
Watch Dogs 2 is playful fuckabout, Dishonored 2 is thoughtfully playful fuckabout
Which is better Dishonored 2 or watch dogs 2 or Witcher 3 new game plus
lol
Are there difficulty levels in watch dogs
I can't remember tbh
<--- masochist
I played only a bit of the first & none of the second so can't comment much on it
So much of what I'm saying about it is going off what brief research I did on it around its release
Ya, I'm mostly just really not sure how to spend my money and can't decide
Sucks that Monster Hunter World isn't cheaper as that'd probably be right up your alley
Oh wait, how much is Nioh going for these days?
I suck at Nioh!
I restarted the game like 3 times
Always getting fucked up by that bat lady
FINALLY beat her
Next boss comes right after her at the beginning of next level
Lightning bolts me into oblivion
D=
Gave up.
Only game I've given up on in ages for being too hard
I suck at it.
I think my thousands of hours in dark souls games is handicapping me
It's like I can't stop trying to play it like dark souls
It took me so long to realize you can block and take no damage
Blocking is a huge part of Nioh
and chaining attacks
Oooh
I'm so used to roll dodging and taking precise strikes and moving on
In nioh you're supposed to block and chain attacks and use combos
That has me more interested in it now
I like it, I just can't do it. I'll try again one day.
I enjoy the Souls style, but I also really dig chaining attacks
Great game. Just can't.
I think that's why I loved the threaded cane in Bloodborne
Very underrated weapon.
Very strong. I usually pick that one at the start nowadays because it's so fun
The other two (or however many) just felt too blunt to me, and as dumb as it may sound, the cane just had a finesse to it through and through
Also, there are two types of enemies in bloodborne (some don't have a category) called Kin and Beast
Cane is the only weapon in the game that gets a bonus against both types
Whip hurts beast
Cane hurts kin
Which is really fun to play with
You're skilled if you use cane though
It's hard for beginners. I always recommend new players use Hunter axe for spin to win
Haha, maybe. I just like to think of myself as persistent
bloodborne!?!?!
Best game.
Ive been trying to beat it without dying while fighting every enemy in my way
Farthest I've gotten is Rom
I actually killed Rom, then one of her babies headbutt slammed me while I celebrated
Dead.
i could really use another Armored Core tho tbh
Hmm, I dunno, I was kind of worried when we thought Miyazakis next game might be AC
I've never played them, but I hear mech games can be pretty hit and miss.
If he makes it I'll play it though, and he says he plans to make it eventually
Mech is life
hey guess what
Days Gone is still going on:
http://www.gameinformer.com/b/features/archive/2018/05/10/watch-the-first-hour-of-days-gone.aspx
In this exclusive video, sit back and get an extensive look at the first hour of the PlayStation 4 exclusive Days gone. Enjoy!
๐ค there should be a skyrim mod that's just a total conversion Dwemer all the things
Oh dang I heard
footage was coming out today
I'm gonna watch it later
I'm off to GameStop to spend what little money I have on games I don't need while already owning games I haven't finished
story of my life
That does sound pretty familiar.
you guys get the feeling when you sit down through a entire playthrough on a live stream and then you're like
why buy the game now?
That's why I try to only watch streams of games I consider bad
I don't watch live streams of games for the most part.
Also I didn't have the guts to get an untested game and just got the Witcher 3 again....
Ooh yeah, you're the person that talked about trading stuff in, right?
That's right. I don't trade in games anymore, for the most part. My reason for trading games in the past was that money could be very, very tight at times. Sometimes I couldn't afford to buy new games and still pay for rent and food so I'd trade in a couple games for one.
Let's hope it never again comes to that.
Yeah, still, given the circumstances a smart move
And hey, given gambling disappointment over a certain enjoyment, revisiting a prior game's good too
I should pick up Witcher 3 at some point, probably
Did you beat it?
Lol, don't have it. Haven't even finished the first two, although I know that's not absolutely essential
I could get into Witcher
By the way
whoever thought it was a good idea to bind the ignite/extinquish candles button to the action button
You can go fuck yourself
No, it does open door, open chest, speak to people
Guess what's often by doors, on chests, and next to people sitting down?
Fucking CANDLES
It's medeival times so candles are everywhere and hundreds of hours into the game I'm still always accidentally putting out candles
I'm actually debating starting a new game which is risky considering the story is 200+ hours...

I don't know if I'm man enough.
it wouldn't be so bad in FF15 if the interact was based where your character was pointing instead of where the camera is looking ๐ซ
So I'm gonna be a shill here but for those that follow the Waking Titan ARG, A&S is having a free weekend and sale on their own project on Steam :3 https://store.steampowered.com/app/349220/The_Black_Watchmen/

Still pluckin' away: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/joshparnell/limit-theory-an-infinite-procedural-space-game/posts/2184159
I'm so glad that guy is okay, he was having a lot of issues a while back.
Always loved watching his update videos
were you a backer?
I think I missed the Kickstarter but stumbled across it afterward and have tried to keep up with it ever since
It put me in the mind of a more space focused NMS in terms of ambition & that's kept my attention throughout its dev
Plus they were a fan of Freelancer so y'know they've their head in the right place
Yeah I missed out on backing, but it's always really impressed me. I'll probably buy it when it eventually gets released.
I've been watching this game for a while, despite slow progress: https://store.steampowered.com/app/824070/Objects_in_Space/ finally has a release, but it's early access

Jun 2018
Ah yeah, I saw that, but then also Early Access, so I was like, "Try to remember for later."
Should probably wishlist/follow it to ensure I actually remember
Yeah that's exactly what I did
I'm a lot more liberal with adding games to my wishlist these days
My wishlists are overflowing, lol
But it's for the best, as anytime there's a sale I can get an alert, or just check'em to be like, "Now I can get this!"
Yeah, too many games to be buying em all full price lol
Hmm. Was Space Colony any good?
It hurts me a little to pay $48 for a new Switch game, and that's using the Prime discount. On PC, I rarely spend over $20 for a game.
I haven't even heard of Space Colony, it looks kind of neat
๐คท Neat...? Won't be sure what to think of it until they release more info
idk what i want for the setting
on one hand i been watching a bit of WW2 stuff and thinking about that in BF seems cool
is that a joke ๐
i mean, you know how battlefield started, right?
ye
gimme a sequel to 2142 pls
isnt everyone still burnt on that from cod
that's not really the same at all though
future setting tho
let's go even further back to the revolutionary war
or to romans
"never be the same" is an awfully bold tagline
I've not played any of the Battlefield games, as most of the series hasn't really interested me, so I'm not sure what they could do with it to interest me
Their strength seems to have been their multiplayer but that's not my thing, and the campaigns haven't been all that notable so far as I've read/heard
the bad company games were the best story-wise as they were more than just standard war fare
i just accidentally made a pun
Yeah, they're the only exceptions I've heard in the series
But they're still tied up in the military thing, so it's kinda ๐คท Which is really what's put me off from the entire series, same with CoD
u dont like military shooters?
I'm still baffled that we went from whacky multiplayer FPS games like Tribes, Unreal Tournament, and Quake to dull stuff like those series
Not really, no
They're just terribly unimaginative to me, for the most part
i dont think theyre meant to be particularly imaginative
just deliver on an experience
Maybe, but it's basically a repetitious experience
Popping this here for E3 reference. Could be useful to us all!

Ooo thanks Matt, very useful
Wedontknowifitwillbewithanyone
what
ok so in that e3 schedule, how does it work?
it shows so many cities
are those cities mentioned for time zones?
yessir
yep, so find your city, then cross reference the time and color for day

If Rage 2 is just a weirder Doom-riff I'm down
Beginner's Guide is $3.59 on Humble right now. If you haven't played it, drop a few bucks and check it out.
๐ค I just had a sad thought. Since I don't think there's a way to share Doom '16's maps outside of Bethesda's network funk, whenever they decide to shut that stuff down they'll go too.
Which for a large amount of the maps is whatever, but there are some gems that would be lost alongside those.
lol, I just reviewed the support FAQ stuff for SnapMap outta curiosity & gave them some feedback, because they just seem to assume that on consoles PlayStation Plus/Xbox Live Gold are a given for network features, but that's not helpful at all when looking for info. Gotta tell folks outright what those subs are needed for, jeez
no you won't bioware stop being silly:
https://www.vg247.com/2018/05/11/anthem-story-choices/
oh bioware
Why even leak this when they were already going to release it today, feel like that has to be a faked leak
And talk about a bland teaser, "Look at these whacky postapocalyptic punks, how coooool"
Trailer or gtfo this is your chance Bethesda, lol
Take this unintended initial response to throw this up because why not then also a proper trailer
What if I told you there are games other than Fortnite, PUBG, and Overwatch? ๐ค
Like roblox
Minecraft?
Subnautica?
Bad Rats?
bad rats is all you need
subnautica great game
destiny 2
Is that out?
it's still in open beta
ohh
no man's sky 3
What happened to 2?
it was that good they skipped it
Joe Man's Sky: Danger Rises
Yo so it turns out Avalanche is working with id Software on Rage 2. This has me much more interested now.
I didnt care at all for rage...
they better have something more people will give a shit about at E3
Working with Avalanche is already a promising move. The first was iffy because they tried to do open world sections but id Software hadn't really done those before, so they just felt lacklustre
With id's experience with satisfying weaponry & Avalanche's experience with open world designs, it should hopefully be much better
the only post apocalyptic-esque game series that works for me is fallout
unless rage 2 proves me wrong
Fallout's lost its way since Bethesda started working on it tho
They should really remaster both Fallout 3 & New Vegas, tbh
Fallout 3 runs like absolute trash on modern systems
Not in the sense of performance but in the sense that it crashes all over the place
F3 has a special place in my heart, but it really hasnt aged well
Once I was able to get it up & running I liked what little I played of it, but I couldn't stand worrying about if I would lose progress due to some dumb crash
same thing happened to me when i got my laptop 3 years ago
My first impression of the game was absolutely worst case scenario. Get out of the Vault finally & go to check out a house: "Bzzrt, crash"
I don't know why I gave them another shot after Morrowind, which pulled similar garbage
But it was worse because it was even less predictable
if obsidian enhanced F4s engine and made a game like New Vegas, (NV 2) Hooooo boy i would lose my shit
thats if bethesda would let them work on the fallout
What are they working on now, anyway? ๐ค
Oh damn, they just released Pillars of Eternity 2, lol
I totally forgot they were behind Pillars of Eternity
PoE is ok
ive been trying to play fallout 3 since last night and now its working but am too angery too play it
i played it on my laptop at 20 fps with really bad graphics but i didnt know what was going on and i dont know if i beat the game and i didnt do any of the dlc so i want to play it again
Uematsu is working on the music for FF7 Remake
Hype get! 2023 is gonna be a great year for games. XD
yeah by then we'll have that & probably Cyberpunk 2077 ๐
Hey, maybe even Star Citizen!
uematsu hhnnnnnnnnggggggggg
star citizen is like the adult version of NMS
'vaporware fornow but someday
willl be awesome
Squadron 42 will hopefully be good enough on its own, Star Citizen's too much of an online experience for my tastes
Guys! I made a game. Anyone wanna play it? ๐
Also holy crap does NMS take some notes from Out There. Finally came across another ship & it makes you repair inventory slots ๐
I called it "hacker: data recovery mission"
It's a simple password un-scramble game
you have to solve 18 anagrams, but the theme is that you're hacking into 3 different targets, each with varying difficulty levels
i repaired one ship wasn't worth it
turns out farming living glass and straight up buying ships is easier
and moreconssitent
Oh damn. It sounds like the shutdown of Bosskey Studios (guys behind LawBreakers & Radical Heights) was a surprise for some (perhaps all?) of the employees.
That's just shitty as hell
yeah, saw about that too
literally within an hour of the lead producer saying they're still working on female characters
like holy crap that's bad
Seriously...I hope the employees are able to find new jobs without too much trouble
Despite their games not doing well, it's clear they had some solid talent there
Yeah, that's been my impression of the situation too, just terrible business handling
I'm pretty sure that many of these old devs have literally no idea how to run a business, and just got incredibly lucky early on
"i want to make another billion dollar ip"
sure you do cliffy b, sure you do
N O N E O F T H A T S I X T Y D O L L A R M U L T I P L A Y E R O N L Y B U L L S H I T
cliffy b is just the strangest man
I'm sure he may be an okay guy, but also seems like the dude that gets way too amped up about stuff & won't listen when you tell them that, "No, Cliff, it's not a great idea to try to do dirtbike tricks without a helmet when you've never ridden dirtbikes before."
And similarly, "No you've never organized this sort of competition you probably shouldn't take out that big loan, what are you thinking"
i mean yeah, he definitely has an ego on him
This is totally his time to shine in esports tho
"my idea is great and you all just don't understand it"
I betcha he'd net a stupid amount of followers on Twitch, lol
So uh... any thoughts on the rumored Star Fox racing game?

i'd play it
if it was better than the last game sure
i bought zero, beat it, then returned it almost immediately
it made me feel kind of bad
like, if it had regular controls then it'd be decent enough, if underwhelming, but with the way they decided to do controls it was just...not good.
the cockpit view should've been additional, not mandatory
star fox adventures remaster or bust
we do not S P EA K O F T H A T
YES
B AD
i mean i'd be totally content with the inklings but that would be good on top of it
Star Fox: Nebula Waker
lol
the tiny girl thats okay because she's actually like 100 trope

EXACTLY
nah yeah paya can be an assist trophy at the very least
paya and inklings only playable characters as far as i'm concerned
maybe mr game and watch for good measure
actually according to the trailer
Hmmm
return of subspace emissary pls
Bubsy for Smash 5
if we got sonic we can get duke nukem
Remember when people thought Bubsy was going to be in Sonic Forces?
but why would you want duke nukem
i wouldn't
Any of you ever played the Duke Nukems that were third person ?
were there ones that weren't platformers?
Yes
This it just the first fifteen minutes of gameplay in Duke Nukem: Time to kill on the PS1 as played on a PS2 with texture smoothing on. Dubbed "Duke Raider,"...
I forget the name of the other one
But they were a lot of fun :p
woah
Land of the babes was the other one lol
Unlike Duke Nukem 3D and Forever, Land of the Babes "earlier known as Planet of Babes" is a 3rd person shooter game released in 2001 for the PlayStation, con...
It looked pretty much the same but it didnโt have the Time Travel aspect I think
Oh wait it did lol
There were stripper pigs in them lmao
Finally a reason to dust off our Vita! If you have a PS4 copy of Stardew Valley, you get a free Vita copy on May 22 ๐
Now I'll be able to farm on the terlet.
Lol
And collectors
Mhm
I got Rocket League free with my steam controller
Rock League is a good game. When I mine a rare mineral, I think to myself: "yes". When I mine coal, I think to myself: "no".
Are you ready to rock? ๐ธ

HITMAN: Definitive Edition is OUT NOW on disc for PS4 and Xbox One! This new release brings together all of the episodes and locations from HITMAN Season One...
Yeah...Thanks Square Enix
arent they indie or something, EIDOS i think
This is IO Interactive, and they're now their own thing, yeah
@light cairn omg:
https://twitter.com/KazHiraiCEO/status/996556896072069126
@jasonschreier This is your most despicable act yet, Jason. You killed Vita. You killed Life.
This entire exchange is glorious
oh my god
but also i am sad
i love the vita, despite its flaws
and physical copies kept me from having to buy memory cards
for the most part
yeah, i'm honestly surprised they're doing that considering it is afaik still popular in japan
They could totally snag the market if they released a new handheld with proper sd card support & actual goddamn online network infrastructure
vita was awesome, killzone and gravity rush are great
and the ps4 remote play was tight as hell
PLUS MGS2 and MGS3 were on there
Like think about it for a sec, what does Switch not have? A good online experience
boom
What does Sony have? A competent online experience at least
splatoon is stale, and MK8 is ok every now and then
Release another handheld with proper online play and fuckin' win
if the switch got like OW thatd be crazy
I swear man, these companies sit on treasure troves waiting to be tapped but they do jack shit with it all
hey i love Splatoon
but yeah, i don't think Switch will get nearly as many niche weird japanese games in the west
mother 3??
although they did surprisingly release galgun
i actually beat mother 3 last week
Imagine if Sony released a new "Vita" and you could run Fortnite on it, insta-money, lol
portable fortnite would be an insane system seller
iphone.....
Right? And Sony has the online infrastructure to support it
if it can run on mobile it can run on switch
it'll only be a matter of time before it ends up on it
A shame Nintendo doesn't know how to online well
^^^^^
they have no idea what they're doing
duuuuuhhh use your phone for voice chat... GENIUS
"Uh, so pass me your friend code & uh hold on let me get the phone app thing & uh, wait fuck why don't I just call you?"
it's because they're still the only games company where their primary market is still Japan
so they're stuck in that mindset
That doesn't make any sense tho, Japanese gamers love online stuff too, lol
not all the millions that ride the train for 4 hours a day
tru
Arcades are still huge there too (which i wish they were everywhere else still)
Arcades suck now, all of them are, hit the button at the right time huhuhuhuhu sooo cool! arcades used to be emptying your pockets for quarters for hours trying to beat space ace with your friends
their all luck based now
the original free to play mobile market ๐
they're*
uh, what?
what do you mean they're all luck based
oh, do you just mean the prize machine style?
in which case yeah those suck hard
almost any modern arcade is full of prize machines, there terrible
its expensive too, 1$ for a prize your probably not gonna get
1$ over time is alot more than you think
its like gambling
actually
it is gambling
it totally is, with just an itty bitty technically bit of skill
but not really tho
exactly
i'd much rather spend a buck and play an actually enjoyable game than waste it on 30 seconds of misery
pachinko what even is that
pachinko is huge
c'mon fall into the right spotssss
technically not gambling!!
MGS konami pachinko machines make me cri
ugh yeah
HIT THE LEVER
i'd be damned tho if some of them don't have stupidly polished visuals for like anime based machines
I wanna make them have to hit the lever every meter just to go anywhere
"You're not playing for money, you're playing for pachinko balls. It just so happens that next door is a place where you can exchange those balls for real world items."
Btw the Dark Souls remaster clears up Blighttown right?
yep
well fuck
?
no i wasn't actually lol
I spoiled myself way too much watching a friend play so I had to put off playing it myself until most of it was a vague memory
Which is conveniently kind of now
But now I have these old copies of the game that have that jank I could easily avoid if I just...Get it...Again...But fuckin' hell
ยฏ_(ใ)_/ยฏ
Daytona USA 8 player races at the arcade were always fun
finna get a dreamcast so i can play that
nice
Whoops. Collapsed in the river in Story of Seasons. I think my dude drowned. RIP
Well...
The latest is that Nintendo has registered the two rumored names as trademarks
the names sound really dumb
Agreed
Yeah no
WOW on PS4? Nope. Announce FF8 remake while 7 is probably still years away? Well it is Square so maybe. But no.
obviously clickbait
@jade lake The OW SP game would likely talk about the lore of the game and where the organisations come from
Judging by the title in that fake E3 thing, looks like it focuses on Talon and Overwatch orgs.
Ofc they still have Omnic and Blackwatch to talk about, but that'd probably be involved in other titles, or tied into that game.
ye
I think it'd be a cool game. I think it's an attempt from Blizzard to fix the current state of Overwatch as a competitive game, by turning the casual players towards the lore involved in the SP title.
brigette broke OW
The game's been broken for a while
Smash Switch test run on June 17, 23, and 24
Oh yeah, she's broken the meta and turned it super stale. But the game needs more than just hero balances
or the japan expo thing
They do these demo/server test things for an hour or two at a time
your thinking of mario tennis
That one is earlier in June
there are no test server things for smash
your thinking of this
ye
I'm excited to hopefully see more of it at E3 though
you fookin wot
oh lord
OVO
didn't buy B1 but I've always liked Battlefield games
V for Vietnam?
ono
Heard this game is suppose to introduce some "groundbreaking" ideas to the FPS genre
exclusively battle royale
isn't battlefield battle royale but teams and half the size anyway
ye
B A T T L E F I E L D B A T T L E R O Y A L E
battlefield royale
I wish companies would make something other than FPS games and 3rd person open world games.
field royale
i mean, there's lots that aren't
that's what indies are for (i don't have a GW emote of the guy tapping his head)
:tappingheadman:
Can't accidentally shoot your teammates if you don't play the game. :tappingheadman:
Must have consulted with XBox's numbering people.

IndieGala's hump day bundle has a game from my wishlist in it. Might have to throw $4 their way.
which game?
@light cairn Far From Noise
ah
Some kind of contemplating life and death game
for the connoisseurs of the arts https://www.fanatical.com/en/bundle/anime-chest-bundle
Anime chests ๐ค
"treasure chest"
sure
"treasure" chest
Anyone know of a discord server for trading games ? like R/Gametrade
There's a game called Action Henk that seems an awful lot like Joe Danger ๐ค
Side note: IndieGala has a game called Intake for 99 cents (90% off) right now... and I actually really enjoyed it for a couple hours.
So it might be worth a look.
Oof, sounds like State of Decay 2 isn't too unlike its predecessor in terms of being buggy:
https://www.usgamer.net/articles/state-of-decay-2-review-round-up
Btw if any of ya own Doom '16 you should give SnapMap another go. There's some great stuff out there now, especially as the lazy crowd has largely left
It takes forever to load
The whole game does for me so I know that feel
But once I get into it it's not too bad
But yeah, still not great =/
Doom '16 is def. still solid gameplay-wise
More games need to let enemies burst into gibs
