It had an extremely rough launch, with bugs all over the place. Falling through the world, animations going awry (probably the most notorious), and several others. Also the writing was considered a major drop in quality compared to the prior games, despite a few good missions here & there
Worse still is that, while I think they tried to patch up the worst of those issues, they abruptly cut support for it, meaning it would never see the extensive reworks that might have salvaged it into something better

I know they didn't entirely know which way they were taking things with Andromeda for awhile, but that could have helped substantially.

The raid description was just trying to get towards a better sense of what I meant. Basically just a more crafted, structured world that feels compelling to explore, rather than (to the best of my knowledge) some otherwise forgettable open spaces that you just revisit to grind trash stuff

The first destiny is one of my favorite games, i have almost 800 hours (almost the most of any game for me) 4 400 characters (i deleted one and made another), got all of the dlc the second they came out, everything. Destiny 2 had a great main story, but not enough exotics, no weapon rolls, not enough legendaries, not enough strikes, and the raid was terrible, and it was the first raid my team played through a raid blind, yea, none of us looked up anything. D2 was disappointing, the Curse of Osiris DLC was just bad, and Im glad i never got the season pass, mabye the first big D2 dlc will be like the Taken King.

While it's not great, it's still pretty good. The animations for the enemies are top notch, and gathering junk is wonderfully streamlined. You don't have to pick up each individual thing on a shelf, just press the use key/button & it sweeps it all up.
I also swear there was a moment in playing it where a bandit hid behind the corpse of their fallen ally as cover to then leap out & try to kill me again
