Oooo.
1
But in 4 when you go back to shadow Moses.
That hits me in the feels every time
@winter yew 2's my personal favorite, but followed by 1 and 3, then 4. 4 is underrated as hell man, the ending is so fucking good
mate, most of very good games are underrated and take for example FireWatch, VERY OUTSTANDINGG GAME ❤
firewatch had its moments, but was kinda underwhelming IMO
@rigid haven I wanna finish Signal From Tolva but it’s got some weird performance issues for me, like a kind of stutter sometimes. Not sure why, my pc should be able to handle it just fine.
Maybe try turning down the shadow settings? It seems to not handle those very well at least on my end
I love that Ghost Recon Wildlands lets me dress as a Division agent because I own that game
yes
When that happens to me, And damn right it does, I from and bear it
Then there's the RuneScape stutters, where it randomly decides to quit using your gpu and 'hang' for a millisecond:
.>

On top of temps above 80c, when you max it out:
Solid 60fps is a pipedream, even with overkill hardware.
It's just such an old game, with so many inconsistencies.
LOL
@blazing torrent Uh... wait, what. It's none of my business, but may I ask why you're not a mod any more? I noticed matthew wasn't either, but now it's both of you.
Sorry. I should keep my nose out of other people's business.
Lmao no one seems to care about gal
4?
o.o
Well, the minimum ram is 4GB, so... maybe you should be running in minimum.
You only have 2GB.
Well, ram is weird. Everything can be running great, and then when Windows doesn't have enough memory to do something, it borks.
Do you know the specific error it threw?
The words on the blue screen.
I actually didn't read it, damn. I'm sure it was the usual "Windows ran into a problem"
Well, that error can help diagnose the issue.
Time to try that again 😅
When you get back on, would you mind running the windows event viewer?
Windows event viewer? Uh, I don't really know what that is, But sure
This section, either under Critical, or Error: https://i.imgur.com/DDmLSXW.png
Ah
Yeah, Probably. That's, like, the third time total that that has happened
When you find it, right click it and select this: https://i.imgur.com/29D4AKA.png
That will bring up a new screen, which will have all of the blue screens listed.
Ohh, right
Clicking on the top one, will show exactly what caused it.
In my specific one, it shows this: https://i.imgur.com/zZJfSG0.png
I didn't even know that was a thing before
Well, you learn something new every day lol.
Welcome to Windows debugging.
Did you find it?
Yup, thanks, just waiting for it to pop up
o_o
Slow computer life ftw
It should have been instant.
Another happy landing
Wow.
"Adding snap-in to console"
Um, what? o.o
No clue
No, I mean where did you see that? Lol. It shouldn't be saying that in the event viewer.
It has nothing to do with it.
It was on a loading thingy
o.o
Ah, It's reading Data, So it should pop up soon
Erm..
Ha, It did it
Woop, you really need a new pc lol...
Yup
Atleast something NOT Celeron.
^
Celeron
Anywho, let me know when you get to that blue screen error message.
@rigid haven Oh, woops. I forgot one thing due to assuming you know how to operate it.
Oh?
Once it opens, click this: https://i.imgur.com/LF7ThlZ.png
That will show this: https://i.imgur.com/BbpJMK3.png
Then expand the "Critical" [+] thing.
Oh yeah, I got that
Just gotta open up discord on my laptop and I'll show you the thing
Under the details or the general tab?
Much like a flower in spring, discord is taking blooming ages to open
Oh
That's a power loss error.
C o o l
@rigid haven, try going here: https://i.imgur.com/g03lZtS.png
Is there a red (x) thing in that list?
Oops, red (!) thing.
Hmm
Well, either way... I'm inclined to believe it was either from overheating, or not enough ram.
Rs3's minimum ram requirement is 4GB, and you only have 2.
Um, the SynTPEnh.exe is the touchpad.
The thing you use to control your mouse.
"synaptics touchpad"
Oh
touchpad ran out of ram
No, lol.
i was joking
Nope, I use an external mouse
Well, then yeah. You can get rid of it if it's causing crashes.
It seems that Windows tries to update that driver at the same time as windows, so it may have replaced your old driver, and broke it.
That's the issue I'm seeing by Googling.
Oh
i think its strange that the usual troubleshooting sentence, "try turning it on and off again" has the timeline backwards
if something isnt working you should turn it off, then turn it on again, instead of trying to turn the device on while its already running, then turning it off, right.
I say the opposite, but yeah. I've seen people say it that way too.
i usually see people say it that way lol
@rigid haven https://i.imgur.com/iwgpV6d.png
I can't seem to find the "minimum" specs, but 4GB seems to be "recommended".
Also, worth looking at this since you're on a laptop: https://support.runescape.com/hc/en-gb/articles/205979101
Nice!
👏
@rigid haven, I poked one of the NXT people for you: https://i.imgur.com/lOH1ayF.png
Would you be okay with doing what he suggested?
Lowering the gameworld render to 75%, which would make it look a bit jpeggy.
It would help performance a lot.
Oh? How can I do that?
It's a matter of editing a value in the cache, via 'DB Browser for SQLite'. This: https://i.imgur.com/iL3nIle.png
Huh, alright, I'll see about doing that
Make sure you click on this, after: https://i.imgur.com/b09btMC.png
Alright
It's not technically an "official" feature yet, and is hidden away along with some other features inside the cache files.
Like DoF and GUI scale.
Those are things too? Neat
@rigid haven https://i.imgur.com/DcHB8mD.png
Ah, right
Ooh, this is pretty cool: https://twitter.com/GOGcom/status/984814887766577153
dragon
Ohwowah
anyone tried everspace? 🤔
Wanted to, but haven't picked it up yet
night!
Night Dragon!
anyone here played earthbound
Oversized 2h sword, anyone? https://i.imgur.com/82MLpz2.png
Pshh, That's barely a normal-sized one handed sword
For some reason I'm desensitized to swords the size of the character wielding them, lol
@rigid haven https://i.imgur.com/p09M6X4.png
@rigid haven, this is the current largest sword ingame: https://i.imgur.com/Ff3cDAL.png
Makes the other one look like a stubby dagger, in comparison.
It's a white 2h
Woah, I really like your big sword
It has the same bonuses as a black 2h sword, but for an unknown reason, the white 2h sword is very large compared to the black 2h sword, and is the largest 2h sword in the game.
It's a monstrosity of a sword.
The white one is bigger than the black one
That's a very nice sword
Here's the black one: http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Black_2h_sword
I prefer the white one for sure
The tiny size makes the model's appearance, irrelevant. It's soooo small.
Well, it's not size, it's what you do with it
Oh damn, that is small
Let me grab one ingame.
It's still a pretty big sword
Here, I dropped them both on the floor for a better comparison: https://i.imgur.com/o7QSVLp.png
That's the top down view.
Personally, I think it has to do with the White Knights of Falador; they're so full of themselves, and think they're better than everyone else lol. The "white" equipment is their equipment.
So, they probably made it larger on purpose.
They're a corrupt militant group who seized control of the kingdom.
Wait hold on
The White Knights may not be as pure as they seem. Also, the Burthorpe Imperial Guard believes the White Knights have illegally taken control of the Kingdom of Asgarnia when King Vallance disappeared.
Yup, they're puns.
Every last one of them.
RuneScape is full of puns, and Monty Python style humour.
Oh... Good god
The mightiest tree is the Grand Tree in the Tree Gnome Stronghold.
Yes, Tree Gnomes.
.>
25 hours in \o/
Running around doing fetch quests 😓
Yup! Which is quite good
On another note... really wish I could play maxed graphics, without my gpu overheating. It's sitting at 86c right now.
Damn, I wondered why you didn't use ultra graphics, with a rig like yours
Yup, it's my own stupidity for buying a Founders Edition card.
They run way too hot no matter what you do.
Damn
I mean, at least I know what I'm missing out on: https://i.imgur.com/mAcQ2hc.png
FE cards are bad.
^
Fact
Irrefutable fact.
They run hot, and perform far worse than any third-party ones, like ASUS.
I'd kill for a DirectCU II cooler right now.
As far as I'm aware, ASUS doesn't make those any more.
Something about them being too expensive to produce.
They were the king of the hill for air cooling, though.
Ha, My cooling system is me blowing into my keyboard and hoping that it goes through and cools down the internals
@rigid haven, honestly... I would suggest just playing Osrs indefinitely, until you can get a better laptop/pc.
Rs3 is going to be really hard on it.
It's horribly unoptimised, and inconsistent.
Yeah, that's probably the best thing to do
But hey, This thing and I have gone through a lot together
It should be able to magically run it occasionally
Osrs was built to run on machines from 1995 - 300MHz processors and 256MB of ram.
Oh wow, Specs that I beat? I didn't know those existed
For ancient games, yup.
RuneScape is one of the oldest MMOs in existence.
In the top three, for sure.
Ultima Online has it beat by a few years; I can't think of an older one than that.
Damn, It just hit me that it has been running for more than 20 years
Ahh, right
And that's only if you want to be technical.
It was called "DeviousMUD" in 1998, and renamed to "RuneScape" in January 2001.
MUD means Multi User Dungeon.
Huh, Today I learned
MUDs were the grandfathers of MMOs.
Really? I've never heard of them before. Neat!
good ol' multi user dungeons
@rigid haven, from that Wikipedia article:
Games such as Meridian 59, EverQuest, Ultima Online and Dark Age of Camelot were routinely called graphical MUDs in their earlier years. RuneScape was actually originally intended to be a text-based MUD, but graphics were added very early in development. However, with the increase in computing power and Internet connectivity during the late nineties, and the shift of online gaming to the mass market, the term "graphical MUD" fell out of favor, being replaced by MMORPG, Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game, a term coined by Richard Garriott in 1997.
Woah, History
@rigid haven, if you play Osrs, you can enjoy music like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BJhF0L7pfo8
Ooo
Or, masterpieces like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JkR7zClEkAo
The Rs3 music just can't compare to the originals.
So, I play Rs3 muted. >.>
Haha, And put your own songs on while you play?
I put on these good old .midi soundtracks; this specific channel has a massive playlist with all of the old music.
Ah, right, Sweet
.midi
I wish I could get "into" Terraria. The two dimensional side-scroller thing is a major put-off, though.
The game's depth really intrigues me.
I'm usually the one toting around the saying "Graphics doesn't matter" and "content is more important", but Terraria is just too far backwards for me.
It's like minecraft with a more, uh, PvE feel
It's fine, though. I think a few people are kind of put off from terraria for a multitude of reasons
lol
Terraria's fantasy vibe (i.e. no scifi tech, instead magic & the like) is kinda what put me off from it
Although if memory serves it does have a sweet as hell vine grapple thing
the grapple hooks in terraria are great
terraria is amazing but it does feel kinda small to me personally. THere's a lot of gameplay depth and all that but not a lot of space, and the 2D can be off putting. but it's still a great game
dunno, for a second i thought you meant small content-wise, since there was tons of updates since launch
Do you think video games will eventually look this good ?
Someday. :P
I'd rather not
I love terraria
Got my first ever "valuable" clue scroll reward: https://i.imgur.com/oADOPMi.png https://i.imgur.com/wxIjdFy.png
Woo! I don't know what it is, But Woo anyway!
Nou
@rigid haven, it's an extremely rare reward, with an excessively rare "drop rate". It's the most common one out of the five Treasure Trail dyes. http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Barrows_Dye
The drop chance of Barrows Dye is approximately 1/8533 (0.05858%) per reward spot from hard clues, and approximately 1/8389 (0.05959%) per reward spot from elite clues.
It's basically an item that's consumed, to dye a piece of equipment.
like how ramsey doesn't like his meat
new Indie Game! http://www.mobiusdigitalgames.com/outer-wilds.html
Indeed !
Oh wow, that sounds cool
Though also kinda stressful if everything starts changing with time
Kinda like that one FMV game thing, Night Trap, was it? Trying to see the story whilst making sure you don't lose is...quite a feat
What i like so much about Indie Games, it's mostly a new IP a new start of something new.
^^
Night trap is really silly
Yup, I prefer Her Story in terms of FMV games
I'm glad #other-games has been added, whas awhile ago but still enjoying it xD
I'm not really sure if it means there should be no game talk in general or what, but I, too, am quite happy this is here
game talk is fine here too really 😃 #other-games is there for more concentrated talk, but anything goes here xD
#other-games is probably to prevent invasive talking about one specific other game like players
that play League Of Legends a lot xD
haha, it was mainly for the minecrafters when that went big
Haha, i remember that
It whas getting out of hand, the NMS vibe almost went gone or whas gone actually :p
I didn't mind it at all. There's a lot of likeminded people here
I joined the minecraft server and there was a lot of hard work in there
Ah, i see xD
i almost thaught it whas for No Man's Sky or something
Kind of an official unoffical server for NMS fans 😃
Oh, Any of you heard of Piku Niku? It's a new game that Devolver is publishing
What game should i play rn
welp
Well, there's Runescape
my message got deleted?
Oh, It's cheap enough during steam sales, Don't do that
Yeah, uh,
That's not exactly on the legitimate side, if you get my meaning
Hmm, What games do you usually play?
Osu is a neat free rhythm game, but it's not really for everyone
There's some good streaming sites that will give you a ton of games (some of them even have free trials).
Rime normally turns up on those - it's a great game and a vast change from FPS - great for just relaxing with
Uh, Hmm
I can't seem to think of many Free to Play games
You Have 10 Seconds is free, and is kinda short
(and I'm in the credits
)
Ohh, what are you credited as Woop?
Oh right
I gave the dev a few ideas, and since it was only me and him, he decided to make credits
That's so awesome! nice one !
Most of them are him, I think I'm under "Additional Help"
Markiplier played it, too. My phone exploded with messages from the dev once that happened
Oops, I'm bragging, Anyway...hmm
Toribash is a thing
Oh! And Awesomenauts
haha, no harm in some bragging 😏
As for games that you need Money to buy, There are a ton that are really super good
NieR Automata, Va-11 Hall-a, Red Strings Club, Cuphead, Crypt of the Necrodancer, Shovel Knight
Cave Story is free, the original one, at least
I hear so many people raving about Crypt of the Necrodancer
I haven't checked it out yet
It's on switch now too
Yeah, It's great if you're into dungeon-crawling and rhythm games
The music is kinda great, too
Haha, You should check it out one day, whether it be through a video or playing it yourself
Ohh, yeah
Orwell is great
I know a lot of good games because somebody kept telling me about a ton of neat ones
I got Orwell, but haven't fully started it yet. It looks great!
Yeah, It is! It's more of an interactive story than a game, though, so keep that in mind while playing it
Oh yeah for sure, like TBW
rythmn game?
You know, Do things to the beat of a song
DDR and such, but in more unique ways
Yeah
In Osu you click circles, COTND can be played with a dance pad, but is a dungeon crawler where you have to do inputs to the beat
Anytime!
Yup! Everyone who was toxic was filtered out due to the, uh, less than optimal launch of NMS
yeah i heard about that launch
Though we have had some people here who were slightly undesirable
Oh, it's alright, they're not here anymore
One of the most notorious is a shitposter who goes by the name of one of the days of the week. Rumour has it that, if you say his name 3 times in the mirror, he comes out and spams you with all sort of nonsense
We owe the niceness of the community to the mods, though, They're great!
Yes thank you mod
Oh yeah, Oneshot is a thing, too. It's awesome. Pick it up when you have the chance!
It's kinda like undertale but with no battles and a focus on storytelling
Paid also?
Yup, But it will go on sale occasionally
Actually, Try Mad Father
That's free, and great
Sorry, Once I get started about games, It's hard to stop 😅
nah its fine
someone name some games with good osts
Hmm
Bastion too, but transistor has the best out of the three supergiant games imo
Just about any persona game
I think Supergiant as a whole make good games
I really have to get those
I do wish they made more stuff
Bastion especially
I'd love to own transistor
Maybe you'll get lucky in the whole GOG thing tomorrow 👀
Oh shoot, I need to fill in that wish list
Then again, transistor was a 2014 game or something, no?
Yeah, I think so
Oh, man, I still haven't played Oxenfree
Oh, Undertale has a nice soundtrack as well
Uh, though I don't doubt you've heard of that
The people at Night School (oxenfree devs) have a new project coming
I forgot the title, but it sounds like they're gonna up the comedy a little bit and make your choices matter more. We'll see 😛
Oh yeah, wasn't it that hell one?
Haha, I always have the time
I know the question was posed a damn while ago, but Furi has a neat soundtrack, too
"Thus begins Afterparty, an adventure game set around one debaucherous night of a pub crawl in Hell where your ultimate goal is to make it to Satan’s exclusive afterparty, convince him to challenge you to a drink-off, and then subsequently defeat the Prince of Darkness in said drink-off"
Afterparty is starting to sound amazing
wonderful*
Make boats and sail them. Build, explore, expand, discover. Sail your ships through changing water and wind inside the eye of a storm. Snap together planks, poles, sails, masts, jets, propellers, balloons, sparklers and more. Take care that it...
$19.99
This is one of the games from one of the WARE indie partners
It looks pretty awesome! 😮
To the best of our knowledge, just part of the ARG
I mean the tech is also just way out there anyway
Oh woah
Ooh, if you want a solid local coop game, this is a great deal: http://store.steampowered.com/app/394510/HELLDIVERS/?newsId=39105
HELLDIVERS™ is a hardcore, cooperative, twin stick shooter from the creators of Magicka. As part of the elite unit called the HELLDIVERS, players must work together to protect SUPER EARTH and defeat the enemies of mankind in an intense intergal...
$9.99

83
Oh, I remember when that was free on PS+ or something
It has some weird global thingy
I own Helldivers @cinder vessel it’s pretty funny but challenging
That's part of the fun 😄
Yea
I played it on my vita for a tiny bit
Got kinda discouraged by the difficulty curve
Reminds me of Alien Swarm on Steam
holy crap, the final area of the Witness is intense and super fucking cool
like no spoilers but
it's honestly kinda what I'd like if my "puzzle dungeons in NMS" idea ever came to fruition...except with more than just line puzzles 😉
Oh hey, neat!
https://www.fanatical.com/en/bundle/fear-bundle
I remember seeing Fear as a kid, It scared the absolute everything out of me
I was scared of the dark for a while after seeing a few spooky bits
spok
Witness kinda bugs me
fear 3 is a decently fun coop game, but the original game is legitimately fun
Original is amazingly crazy
Especially when slide kicking in slow motion as you shoot your way through the enemies
dual pistols all the way, man
I enjoyed it a bunch but...can only vaguely remember much of it? 🤔
the gameplay is the biggest part, slowmo and melee in it are so good
I hardly remember finding those all that necessary
It was just kind of, "These are here...Use'em if ya want, we guess?"
that's like the whole point of what makes it fun
also the AI is actually really really good
like still better than a lot of today's stuff
I guess? I just never felt any need to go, "whoa slowmo!"
It was just as quick to shoot'em normally, lol
It makes for cool action sequences
And the fact that the bullet holes left over weren't even decals
Like, you were actually chipping away at the walls
you ever get stuck on a puzzle, and you know exactly what the end goal is, but you can't quite figure out how to get it
because I'm there right now
and it's physically painful
^
slider puzzles are just
This is the end result:
ouch, not a good time
@rigid haven You know that dye I got from that clue scroll? I had to go through innumerous puzzles.
@rigid haven Sorry, had to go afk. No, I have little to no patience, and an extremely short fuse. I know I was called (by innumerous foster parents) "that demon child", because I was always extremely angry and upset, and destructive. Violence was always my first choice. I was shipped in and out of so many homes, because of that - I was a "problem child". No one wanted me, and the ones that did eventually got sick of me, or scared of me. Sadly, it was only recently (maybe 2014) that I stopped destroying my own stuff. It was my stupid anger, that made me realise I had to learn how to build and repair pcs... because my anger made me wanting to own a computer, a very expensive upkeep. Lag? Computer gets a quick flight lesson, where it inevitably smashes against the wall. Idiot decides to be rude/mean? Keyboard, and tower likely suffers damage. Disconnect? Everything gets destroyed.
Now, stack all of this on top of an extremely low IQ, and you have someone who wants to do the puzzles, but is mentally incapable of doing so. Every slider puzzle for me, is multiple hours of stupidity-induced rage, where I stupidly refuse to give up, but stupidly can't solve it. This wouldn't be the case if these puzzles were always the same and had reproducible steps. I could easily look up a guide and just follow it in a matter of moments. However, this isn't the case and the puzzles are randomised every single time. It's different for every person. On top of this, closing out the puzzle erases your progress and randomises the pieces.
God damn. I'm the same with slider puzzles. They're so bad but really hard to stop just in case you magically find a way to solve it in the next couple of moves
And don't even get me started on the times when you have it all perfect except two pieces which should be in eachother's place
RubixCube.jpg
I've had 3 rubix cubes
It does seem like there should be some kind of algorithm for those puzzles
There is?
That Wiki link is the page that describes it.
I just rotate the pieces around the centre and hope it all works out
@primal inlet https://i.imgur.com/ZHKp3QQ.png
Isn't a good sliding puzzle algorithm just a set of steps to get one piece to another place?
Yeah ok
Ohhh
Rubik's cube, there are a bunch of little methods you can do to get X piece to Y spot
This is the chart and colours those instructions are referring to:
Yeah, you posted it earlier. God damn, that's really helpful
should be similar here, but I guess nobody's developed the exact methods
I'm sure someone has.
Rubix cubes have been around too long, for there not to be guides.
Again though, those instructions depend heavily on one's intelligence. For someone as stupid as me, you might as well be speaking chinese.
I'm sure Woop can do it, though.
Aww, you give me too much credit
Computers and the like are waay out of my grasp, but I was rewarded as someone who knew what to do with them because I got lucky. Everyone has things they're good at, though
Heh, maybe you should take up coding or something. You might be good
Intelligence is not the same as knowledge. An idiot (me) can know how to type properly, and know how to build a pc, and learn about computer hardware. That doesn't make me "smart". It makes me knowledgeable about those topics.
Intelligence is the ability to piece things together on your own, improvise, and that sorta thing.
Ohh, right. People have said that intelligence =! Knowledge, But I never got that until now
Yeah, I'm far from smart
And no, lol... coding is the bane of my existence. I've tried to get into Java, and HTML, and CSS, but it was like beating my head against a brick wall, for all the good it did.
Always in one ear, and out the other.
Ah, right
Hardware is my thing, whereas software might as well be an alien language.
Huh, yeah, that's, uh, my weakpoint
I could probably throw together a computer, sure, but I wouldn't be able to tell you what specs are good specs, or anything like that
it's that big number
did you know FFXV is the best Final Fantasy?
'cause big number
The first Final fantasy on the NES, from 1987 is the best one. >.>
nah it doesn't even have a number
Haha, Somehow I expected you to say that
best game is pong end of
I've only played 7
@rigid haven, regarding the computer hardware stuff again, my knowledge about hardware is self taught, with no actual classes.
Idk proper names/phrases of a lot of things, and explaining stuff to people is extremely difficult without the help of Google. When it's in my hands irl, I'm fine because I know where/what everything is, and how it functions. "This doohickey goes here, and does this. That thingamabob connects to that." kinda stuff.
Also, the majority of my hardware knowledge is mostly Intel and Nvidia, so a lot of AMD's stuff (unless it's much, much older) I tend to be ignorant about. Back when AMD was actually able to compete at the top levels, I used them and knew about them. A lot has changed since then, and they're only at the mid, low, and "lower" high-end areas right now. I know bits and bobs about motherboards, psus, and other components, but it pales in comparison to what I know about processors and graphics cards. So, one could say that I'm kinda ignorant about anything other than those two categories.
I think somebody once told me that a static shock can destroy an entire motherboard, So I can break a computer pretty easily, That's about it, though
Um... an actual shock can cause problems, yes. Like say you rubbed your socked feet on the carpet and whatever on purpose, to try and generate a charge, before touching something. That can cause a temporary "failure". As in, it won't function at all, until the static dissipates.
The whole thing about having to wear gloves, and not touching the metal bits, is a load of bollocks.
Same with the wire management thing.
I wish people would quit spreading that rubbish around.
Haha
...I thought it was just a lucky miracle that my PC has worked for a year straight
welp, good to know
i've accidentally shocked my front panel and it restarted my computer
^
pro techies know that frequent shocks to PC components keep them running longer 😈
Lol, if only...
I'd love to give my old Prescott 2M Extreme Edition a shock, to make it live again.
Poor thing burned itself out, from too much usage.
you just haven't given it a big enough shock
Better overused than underused, I guess
holds back joke
.>
a little bio-shock
My warped mind already thinks it knows what you'd say.
Oh skip, you're such a merry prankster!
i'm 100% sure no one could guess it
The internet has ruined me.
fucking hell, Witness is just
amazing
Puzzles are stupidly hard, but they keep surprising me with interesting twists
and it's all line puzzles
The art is good, the whatever the fuck it's trying to say is whatever
I haven't gotten to the end yet but I've heard it's barely less disappointing than NMS
some of its puzzles piss me off because they expect correct color vision & good hearing
The former fortunately I have, but the latter is a bit...Iffy, like I can hear pretty well, but some of it is stupid subtle
I still haven't finished the (implied) puzzle set based on sound because the one I'm on is too confusing
Worse still, some of it seems to just appear outta nowhere, with no prior link to other puzzle solutions
So you get to it, and it's just like, "Wait what am I even doing here?"
And your only real solution, outside of using a FAQ, is to just beat your head against it till you catch the dumb unique thing
the sound area is a pain in the ass
But it's not just the sound area, it sort of reemerges elsewhere
And it's way, way fuck you
The Witness really comes across as one big fuck you in terms of some of its gameplay
Which sucks because the island itself is fucking lovely
I can think of a single puzzle that's solely, entirely, a massive "fuck you"
I'm probably missing some though
jon blow is unforgiving
Have you found some of the side/"secret" puzzles where it hides the lines and some of the dots from you (if I remember right)?
Jon Blow is an ass, lol
...There are some puzzles like that in the finale, but I don't remember any in the rest of the island
Jon Blow can definitely blow something....
IIRC there's a particular puzzle in Witness that requires like half an hour of waiting for the right moment
god damn
What really started to kill the Witness for me was recognizing I was solving puzzle after puzzle for next to no payoff
shh i still need to watch that
I mean, I just like seeing what comes next
The only real area where it goes "here, have a bunch of puzzles to """"test"""" your """"skills"""" lol" is the town (and a secret place™)
Everywhere else, it's constantly iterating on ideas and mechanics
I don't even understand half of the puzzles
I don't care much for raw mechanical iteration without much narrative unless it's an arcade style game
yeah, the witness is more for hardcore puzzle fans
who for just the act of solving is all they need
I had hoped there'd be a mystery or narrative to it =/
Like the Talos Principle?
Talos Principle, from even the demo alone, is so much better than The Witness
oh, FUCK OFF
._.

I think I just got a big fuck you from the witness

Jonathan Blow hates everyone
Braid was good
I looked up half of the puzzles in the Witness lol
it's too fucking hard
I don't have time for it all
Every one of Jonathan Blow's games so far is a plus in terms of the artwork, and in Braid's case art & music, but not too much else, lol
i got stuck in one point in braid cause i too big a dumb for him apparently
The gameplay is always just, "Let me just take this much further than any reasonable person would"
I mean, I like that, it's just that it's also painful
i don't think it teaches the player properly a lot of the time (braid, and the witness at times)
It's pointless most of the time. It's not like he's pushing some tech that others could use
Mhmm
I got that one laser thing working, and everything else went downhill from there
I wouldn't be so rough about it, had it some narrative context to make it more interesting 🤷
The island does seem like it's got a narrative thing going on...until (I'm unfortunately aware) it doesn't
Like you almost think the statues are a hint of some weird incident, but the more you notice they just fold into puzzles the more you're like, "Oh fuck off"
...Well, the finale area too
I liked the meta ending though
Then again I also didn't care for the inclusion of random ass videos
Cool art, cool art, brrrpt, "Hey here's video from reality"
Didn't mind those as much
Just wondering, because that's actually my thought exactly
the videos are also really fucking long
yeah
also there's a puzzle in one of the videos that also takes a fucking long time to solve
Audio blends better than a sharp cut to video with a completely different visual than the game
The Witness to me is largely:
-Beautiful island
-Some clever puzzles
-Okay you've overdone this
-Where's my fucking payoff Jonathan Blow, what's even going on with this island
-Oh fuck me you're really doing this stupid intelligence fetish thing to the core, huh?
-This is going nowhere but deeper up your ass, fuck off Jonathan Blow
lol
That was Yahtzee's description, wasn't it? "Slowly crawling up a very nicely decorated and interesting ass"
I dunno, I don't follow Yahtzee
Either way, it says something that two people would use the same turn of phrase to describe the game
I just know the more I played of The Witness, the less I appreciated the cleverness and the more pissed I was that the entire island felt like a hollow idol to a superficial admiration of the pursuit of knowledge
It offers numerous perspectives on that pursuit but says nothing itself, so far as I could tell
That all said...Gemini Rue and Primordia are fun puzzle games
And they try to say stuff
Ah
the one that resets?
Yes
yea streamer I watched had the same reaction
I mean, the cinematography was cool, but I want answers
it resets!?!?!/
It puts you in a new save, but you can go back to your old one with a single click
oh ok
yea
like I immediately did
haven't done four of the lasers or most of the secrets
Oh, but the meta ending is cool so far
at least the way they've done the credits
...I'm not entirely sure that this isn't a W/ARE tie-in
the witness?
yes
didnt it come out awhile ago?
I know 2 years
the long con
is it spoilers to talk about an ending with no leadup or foreshadowing?
well, it's an ending, is it not?
I suppose
What a good game
❤

Subnautica is legendary
I agree
Huh, You know, wizard man spouts some truth
Urgh. the Witcher 3 is chock-full of the exact same graphical flaws that Skyrim has, with high resolution texture packs. Like they slapped high res textures on it, and didn't think about the clipping.
Looks nice, as long as you don't look too closely.
Oh, you got it?
Neat! I've kinda been put-off because of the "3"
HALF LIFE 3
Turns out I was right.
The screenshots and videos told the whole story.
Kinda disappointed, but I expected this.
@rigid haven: https://i.imgur.com/JFmdfyb.png
So far, what Leon said is right.
Subnautica is best game
that has been established, yes
too bad it's like a really good cake
munch it & savor it...Then you have to wait awhile before you can make it again & enjoy it as much as before
unless you're one of those mad people that can replay stuff right after thoroughly playing something, in which case, props to ya
This kinda stuff in rpgs, annoys the hell out of me: https://i.imgur.com/Lq2utAf.png
I don't want to say the wrong thing and get reprimanded or whatever.
I'd choose option 1
Idk anything about the story though.
If it's against his character.
oh don‘t worry, you can miss out on stuff in the witcher 3 by picking something over the other, but there‘s no wrong choice
There will always be something to it, not like the game ends cause you made a „wrong choice“
Well, I've a few nitpicks with it so far, but the game is ... enjoyable, so far. I can't say I don't like it.
I haven't played 1 or 2, either.
Biggest nitpick so far, is the movement. It feels so clunky and unresponsive.
Especially in combat.
It's gonna get me killed, eventually.
Yeah the movement is difficult
Try using the alternative movement response in the settings
That helped me out a lot
But movement can definitely get you killed in The Witcher; got me killed a lot
Good idea then 🙂
But yeah I played the shit out of TW3
I ended up finishing it at NG++ and at level 100 with all dlc done and the ideal route complete
Who did that react I’m on mobile I can’t see
It was the person
Woop
You know, that person
@iron inlet https://i.imgur.com/juO9sxT.png
Wednesday is here? 😉
Open mouf
Oh dear, I've been revealed!
Woop it was you and Leon too
Lemon
Both of you
Leon was the original, I'm simply a copy-cat
Ahh okay
Also, you can see who reacted on mobile
Lies
I don’t have that option
Are you clicking a message with reactions on it?
Huh
Gaff
Odd
Giff
@rigid haven Try it now? reminded me of this image: https://i.imgur.com/WmDlHoS.png
I've actually never touched cow
TOUCH IT OR YOUR FAMILY DIES
I don’t know if I’ve touched a cow ngl
I mean
I touched one of my exes
Does that count?
🎮
Don't moan the control
games we game you game that game
W/RE - Moan Better

no see that's B/-RE, Oh Better

can't just repeat moan
haunt haunt
👻
Haunt the haunt
Taunt the Haunt
Hmm, 'standard' movement is even worse than 'alternative'.
@iron inlet, is there any way to turn off the auto-run when holding W?
It's kind of annoying.
do you have a controller? If so, I found that playing tw3 with controller works better than kb+m and I normally don‘t like playing with a controller
Yup, just a cheap xBox 360 "afterglow" controller. It's a knock-off one, not a MS one.
I'd use it, but the bottom stick is heavily overused.
It gets stuck.
And it sits slightly off-centre, so the character will list a bit no matter what.
I think you can change walking speed with ctrl if that‘s what you mean
No, it's not what I mean at all lol.
When I hold the W key to walk somewhere, Geralt automatically starts running without any other buttons pressed.
I want to walk.
Not run.
I think what he does on w is just his running, and if you press ctrl on a default setup it should switch to walking
Yeah, geralt is pretty fast, but at least there‘s a lore explanation for it
Cause he‘s an enhanced witcher and all that
Urgh, so much clipping...
Ran through some doors, and my screen started flashing/shaking until I turned the camera.
It got stuck on the door.
These doors: https://i.imgur.com/SstQ3bP.png
@strong hazel https://gfycat.com/ObeseSatisfiedGalah
Why does this stuff happen...
Oh wow
Never seen that
I don‘t know a lot about software and all that but could it be that your graphics drivers aren‘t up to date? I had a similar problem in AC:O and it was fixed by updating my drivers
Nope, I've the latest driver: https://i.imgur.com/U3uhqNV.png
I've been having tonnes of graphical bugs like those doors; not just door related.
Damn
Movement is horribly slow to respond, and has almost killed me twice now. It's literally an exact replica of GTA V's movement system. That disgusting "realistic physics" thing, where it tries to act like irl.
I only ever had one floating drowner in tw3 and no other bugs, have you tried revalidating the gamefiles yet? Maybe that helps
Validating the files was the first thing I did.
Oh yeah the movement delay on turning is strange too
If you use the updated movement option it should adjust it a bit
They implemented that to help with the delay while still keeping the turning animations
huh
Yeah alternative is still different to a lot of games but you‘ll get used to it quickly. But it‘s probably more noticeable with kb+m than with controller
Cause kb+m are way more precise
Well, first impressions so far is pretty bad. Lots of issues, lots of annoyances, and disappointment galore.
Also, idk what "kb+M" means.
Sorry.
Keyboard+mouse
Oh
but yeah, that sucks... hope you can fix it or it fixes itsself, cause the story and world is amazing imo
The graphics are especially disappointing. I was led (misled. >.>) to believe they were "amazing". Turned out - even in max - to just look like Skyrim with a high res texture pack slapped on it. The models are clipping with the textures in all movement.
You don‘t like the graphics? I always thought they looked pretty good
The faces are horrible, too. Everyone looks like they've had a high injection of botox to make their faces look stiff.
They barely respond, and the lips are so stiff and out of sync with the dialog.
huh
Never noticed the lips out of sync, but I guess I‘m used to that cause I don‘t play everything in english
But yeah the faces aren‘t that good, you‘ll also notice a lot of npc‘s looking similar
I hope you can still enjoy the game even though it does seem to have some bugs for you!
I didn't like the witcher 3
Hahaha
Yes
... and all of a sudden, my HP started draining of its own accord. Nothing was attacking me, I wasn't in combat, and I hadn't been anywhere near anything hostile. Yet, it just randomly started draining at a steady rate and killed me.
I'm done.
you might have been poisoned or something
There's buffs show at the top of the screen if you're infect irrc
There've been enough problems so far (up in chat history), that I just don't want to have anything more to do with the game. It's to the point where it's too much, and making me angry.
Waste of time and money, but oh well.
Aw, damn! Sorry you don't like it 😦
But if it's making you angry, you're right to get out of there lol
Yup!
okay
my laptop is too shitty to run fortnite
fortnite needs an intel HD 4000 as a minimum GPU
my laptop has a nvidia NVS 4200m
and apparently
the NVS 4200m, a dedicated GPU, has a worse performance than the Intel HD 4000.
Just get it on that, then
i do
Fortnite seems like it'll have very limited appeal, anyway
I have it on that, but I was just pointing out that my laptop has a GPU which is pure shit
it was fun for a while, then I stopped playing for a long time.
Short lifespan I expect
I still like the whole hero shooter genre, even though I don't play any games of it much
it’s not really my type of game, but it can be fun
This is possibly the most terrifying creeper texture bug I've ever come across:
Good God, that is horrifying
Oh, neat. I found a screenie of my first "big" castle, from 1.2.5, in 2012: https://i.imgur.com/NXCdrDW.png
1.2.5 was my favorite era
Oh my god. I've always tried to make giant castles but I'm never creative enough to do so. That's awesome
CnU?
Well, I was bored and decided to build something within MCL+'s creative world out of boredom. It turned into more of a mini-project, and I began to enjoy it....
Context: https://i.imgur.com/8gmzM7o.png
Haha, This is amazing
I remember building this scrawny boye ages ago
Lmao so many lighting glitches and the colors are so bad
Oh woah 😮
7 year old walks in “LETZZZ PLAY STTSTHOME MMMIIINNEECCRRAAFFTTZZZ”
let's not
Riff Racer on sale for $2.50
so worth it
that's not ridge racer
No it's not. It's a race your own mp3s game.
Although it's more about drifting and catching air than racing.
maybe i'll check it out
If you've got a bunch of mp3s on your PC, I'd recommend it.
I'm honestly surprised nobody's partnered with Spotify and made the ultimate music powered procedural generation game yet
I mean you can find the MP3s for most any song with enough effort but
no
Yeah Spotify integration would be awesome
Audiosurf 2 does YouTube and Last.fm (I think), which isn't bad.
Maybe that's what what it is. I only use my own songs and YT on it.
you can partner up last fm and spotify
Yes I was looking at Riff Racer but it just reminds me too much of DISTANCE
Which has a slightly different concept of ‘generated’ tracks.
seeee
I never played Distance but I remember looking at it.
Rather than making tracks based off of the music, the game’s visuals play off the beat of the music
👀
The tracks are generated by seeds like Minecraft worlds
That's kinda cool.
So I could put in ‘devinup’ and get a track that might be cool :p
